A list of puns related to "Digestive enzyme"
I have ibs c and was taking 2 pills of enzycap daily, which are probiotics with digestive enzymes but recently it has been very scarce and prices have soared $1 per pill.
Background: my gastroparesis is more mild/moderate, I can't tolerate some foods but avoid them, and it just seems to flare up randomly now and then. My flares are usually nauseating, around 12-48 hours, intense stomach cramping. I've ended up in the ER a few times but there's never anything they can do, just pain meds, IV zofran and fluids.
My ex had to take digestive enzymes for a while after some health issues had him on a feeding tube during a few month hospital stay. Made me wonder if taking digestive enzymes was ever something people with gastroparesis cases like mine have done. When I have a flare it feels like my stomach goes on strike and causes extreme cramping, all the while with the food just sitting in there like a pile of bricks. Perhaps it could help move things along during a bad flare, or maybe even I could utilize them to be able to eat some foods that are too hard on my stomach now (like cruciferous veggies?)
His digestive enzymes were prescription I believe. My GI hasn't mentioned them. Was prescribed reglan in the past but broke out in hives so they assumed I was allergic. However my case didn't appear to be one that necessitated daily meds- I just mostly need help during flares. Suggestions welcome!
Does anyone have any experience with taking them and having gallstones/biliary dyskinesia? I have dyskinesia (38% EF) and am having symptoms like food showing up in my stool undigested, very foul smelling gas and burning pain on my upper right side and upper left side. Is there any products you guys would recommend to help me out? My surgery isnβt scheduled until February 24th and I really need some relief because Iβm almost at the point where Iβm not able to eat. Thank you so much in advance!
Iβve been hearing about digestive enzymes lately unrelated to gp and was wondering if anyone here has tried them. If so, how was it?
I consume all the above listed in abundance, and I mean a lot. I enjoy fruits and vegetables a ton, but grains and beans are a very large portion of nutritional intake for me because of the value they bring to the table. Theyβre also insanely cheap. Are there health risk concerns with consumption of these foods or is it nothing to worry of? I feel like I canβt win for losing, the deeper I dive into nutrition by this time next year Iβll be eating bowls of air for three square meals a day.
Hi All
After 10 years of bloating/diarrhea/cramping a GI recommended a colonoscopy/egd as my symptoms didnβt seem to correlate with anything. They wanted to rule out celiacs/crohns/colitis and get a definitive βibsβ diagnosis.
All my tests came back normal. Until my digestive enzymes came back. My lactase level was at 4 (apparently they like it >14). And my sucrase, Maltase, palatinase, and glucoamylase were also all low. Has anyone else experienced this? They think because my lactase level is so low it somehow affects my others. Iβm not sure.
Also this means a new lactose intolerant diagnosis for me. This is going to sound childish because it could be so much worse, but I feel like Iβm grieving the lose of dairy! It seems so overwhelming to monitor labels and everything. They told me because my level is so low I likely wonβt be able to get away with even small amounts π
Thanks for reading my novel π€£
Has anyone taken any of these for SIBO and if so, have they been helpful? Also curious if anyone has had a histamine reaction to Sibb Zymes specifically, Vitanica Bitters or Pure Encapsulations Magnesium Glycinate?
Has anyone found success taking digestive enzymes while on treatment? Also if you're enzyme levels seem to be normal any benefit in even taking them?
I believe I read someone on here recently saying that they take more digestive enzymes than the normal dose to help with fat absorption? If that was you, how much are you taking? Thanks!
Hello all! Long time listener, first time caller.
Long story short, I want to see if digestive enzymes might be helpful for my gut issues. There are so many out there and Iβm kind of overwhelmed. I was wondering if any of you have recommendations? Iβm broke af and trying to keep costs around $40 or less, so if anyone can steer me towards some they are using that has worked for them, in that price range, Iβd be most appreciative.
Also, Iβm somewhat afraid to take stuff with bromelain in it because pineapple makes my eczema flare so badly. (But that may be an irrational fear and the reaction may have nothing to do with bromelain.)
Anyway, any help would be appreciated, thank you.
Yβall iβve had maybe the most normal poop iβve had in so long itβs amazing. only started taking these digestive enzymes about 3 days now after breakfast and my gas, bloating and terrible constipation is nearly gone. Itβs worth a try!!!
The ones I tried were the Nature Made Ultra Strength 12 Strain from Target!!!! Amazing results from a multi-year sufferer.
Hey guys, So basically I believe digestive enzymes are one of the most underrated supplements in bodybuilding. To keep it short, a previous study demonstrated an almost 3 fold in total serum amino acids compared to control in young men who consumed 50g of protein, as well as a large increase in nitrogen.
To make it longer, I made a video explaining it
Iβm not sponsored by anyone affiliated with digestive enzymes, Iβm posting this literally to help you guys increase your gains :)
Has anyone else tried broad spectrum digestive enzymes to combat migraines?
So I have struggled with chronic migraines for decades. I tried pretty much everything. Meds, massage, acupuncture, elimination diets, chiropractors, supplements, etc. Finally I stumbled across a book that promoted a low carb paleo type diet. I tried it, and my migraines disappeared for a while. Carbs in general seem to be a big trigger for me. But then I had my son and found a low carb diet was hard to stick to all the time with a picky toddler and my migraines popped up again.
I started to wonder why my body couldnβt process carbs correctly, and was there a way to help my body process carbs? Then I stumbled across the topic of digestive enzymes and decided to give them a try with each meal. Within two days, my migraines and all related symptoms (fatigue, congestion, wooziness, brain fog) were GONE. And for the first time as an adult, I wake up feeling energetic and not dragging. And as long as I take a sufficient amount of the enzymes (2+ pills with each meal) my migraines are controlled again. 5 months later, I am still doing great and can eat some carbs again. I asked my regular doctor why, and she had no idea. I asked a naturopath, and she had no idea, either, but said that this is a very low impact treatment and to continue. I have no idea why it helps, and theorize that maybe itβs a leaky gut issue, or maybe a yeast imbalance issue or even that my body no longer makes enough enzymes that break down sugars/starches. I have tried several brands of enzymes and they all seem to work fine. Apparently some enzymes are created from molds and wonβt work well for those with certain mold allergies. I would love to hear if anyone else has tried this, and if they ever had migraines pop up again while taking enzymes with each meal.
Not DAO!! But like a broader spectrum digestive enzyme -has anyone tried them?
I posted a while ago about how a supplement called zymex II helped me come off ketotifen.
An MCAS friend of mine reacted to that (not surprising -Iβm actually confused that I donβt bc the first ingredient is almond) so he tried other digestive enzymes and now he can EAT WHATEVER he wants!!! π€―
Has anyone else tried this!?
He also says DAO helps now when it didnβt before. Iβve taken 15 DAO at once and nothing but zymex? Got me off ketotifen in a couple days!
Hope it helps!
UPDATE: He recommends these enzymes BUT ALSO, he recently ran out of the pure isolate CBD that he recently started taking and all his symptoms came flooding back... so it might be the CBD and not the enzymes that gave him food back or the combination. He's going to wait till his not reacting again to try the CBD and not enzymes. I'll report back when he does :)
How should the digestive enzymes be taken for maximum efficiency? Before, while or after eating food?
Especially after or during a heavy meal? And is there any research that backs up the effectiveness of digestive enzyme supplements?
Im trying out Digestive Enzymes which are sold in germany as "Enzymatin". I will edit this post as soon as i see any improvement or none improvement.
EDIT DAY 1: I dont know if its the enzymes but ive taken them 3x before a meal and feeling much better now. I'd say 40% improvement
Day : 2 forgot to take them yesterday and i feel shit
Iβm about to start my treatment for my gut and was wondering if I should I continue taking these supplements with meals? If anyone knows about this I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Digestive enzymes have helped me come off ketotifen AND even cheat on my VERY limited diet some (so exciting). My ND thinks I might have enough enzymes but lack in the stomach acid necessary to "activate" the enzymes.
I'm thinking of bringing these questions to a GI specialist to see what can be quantified and was wondering if any of you had any experience with these ideas.
Thanks!
Iβve read they have other benefits like blood flow or anti-aging.
Curious if anyone noticed anything different that wasnβt digestion related.
Disclaimer: I have a message in with the GI but wanted btdt answers.
I had my gallbladder removed on Thursday. I keep seeing that I should begin bile salts/digestive enzymes, but a medical person has not mentioned it to me. Should everyone take it who has had their gallbladder removed? How do I know which one is right for me?
Hi!
Would really appreciate some suggestions for digestive enzyme products...
Been vegan for 5 months now and my gut still hasn't adjusted very well. Eating well, almost zero processed foods, and I'm tracking both my macros and micros so I'm pretty healthy in that aspect but my gut is still not a happy bunny...
If anyone uses digestive enzymes please let me know which ones you take!
Thanks!
I often have brain fog and feel sluggish after having a meal. I guess since my stomach lacks normal lining it requires more energy to digest food. So can good digestive enzymes help , if so kindly recommend a good one.
Apologies if I posted this before.
Has anybody had experience using both bile salts (ox bile, Tudca, et al) and digestive enzymes.
If so: which of the two did you find more useful?
Anybody who has taken both at the same time?
(Please only reply if you have tried these supplements which probably means that you're also having post op digestive problems. If you aren't, you've probably had no reason to look for things like this!)
For the people that are on enzymes, how long did you use them for before your body started producing them again? I have been on mine for 2 months and still feel like I have to rely on them.
So I have had migraines for decades. I tried meds, chiropractors, acupuncture, massage, elimination diets, naturopathy, homeopathy, you name it. I finally went low carb and found that carbs/sugars seem to be the biggest trigger, rather than any one food like wheat or dairy. However, itβs a challenge to stay low carb and it got me wondering why my body wasnβt tolerating carbs. I stumbled across the topic of digestive enzymes and decided to give them a try. I take them before each meal. Itβs a brand with a variety of enzymes, to deal with most foods and several kinds of carbs. Within two days, all my migraine and headache symptoms were GONE. As long as I take enzymes, I feel fantastic and pain free. My theory is that perhaps I have gut permeability (leaky gut) and/or low enzymes and without extra enzymes to break carbs down fast, they leak out and cause inflammation. My doctor said it was a good possibility but had no other suggestions except to keep taking the enzymes. While I can happily take enzymes for the rest of my life if it means I continue to feel this good, why do I need the enzymes in the first place? Anyone know of test that can help for any of this? I have an appointment with a new naturopath/functional medicine doc next month and I can ask.
For example, photoestrogens are a hormone that is in soybeans, and it can decrease testosterone if consumed regularly. How is this possible? Wouldnβt the hormone be completely broken up when it hits the stomach? The same thing goes for cows milk. Iβve heard that the hormones in milk can cause acne, but how is that possible if your stomach would be digesting them?
