A list of puns related to "Crème de violette"
The Aviation is my favorite cocktail, and I’m obviously not going out to get one any time soon. Anyone know where I can find the violette? Thanks!
I love an Aviation cocktail, and I've seen some interesting riffs I want to try, so I was looking to get a bottle of Creme de Violette for my home bar. The Bitter Truth, Giffard and Edmond Briottet seem like they have good distribution here in the UK, but I'm open to any brand.
Does anyone have any preferences/recommendations?
I made some Aviations and my liquor store didn't have crème de violette so I bought a spirit called liqueur de violette by Tempus Fugit spirits. The bottle says that the liqueur has a lower sugar content than the crème. The final cocktail results in a rose-tinted aviation instead of a blue aviation.
So for the cocktail experts out there, what are your thoughts on liqueur de violette instead of crème de violette? Did I lead myself astray and should I go hunt down some true crème de violette or is this substitution appropriate?
My special lady friend loves Aviations, which I've been dutifully making for her since getting the crème de violette. But at this rate the bottle will be in my bar for the rest of my natural life.
What else can I make with this stuff?
Would be forever grateful if you could share some of your favorite uses for Crème de violette and Maraschino liqueur. Obviously doesn't have to be together - I just want to use them more (not to knock the lovely Aviation, but I could use a change).
Hey, It is not that easy for me to get my hands on crème de violette, but violette syrup is easy to find (Monin), and not that expensive. Would that be a good substitute for an Aviation? If so, how should I change the ratios to counter the fact that the syrup has no alcool. Thanks for the answers, have a nice day!
Playing around with some rothman & winter creme de violette. Wondering if anyone has a great spring time, warm weather, sunny cocktail that they use this for. I know it works great with a classic like the Aviation, but I was hungry for some clever thoughts and spins. Tried 2oz dry gin, .5 lemon juice, and .5 cointreau tonight...thought that was a bitter so I added about .25 simple, that helped quite a bit, but definitely felt like it was missing something. (maraschino liqueur isn't available to me).
I have been looking for some Rothman & Winters creme de violette for ages, and it just seems absolutely impossible to find. No online supplier will even ship to Canada.
If anybody around the world can pick up/order a bottle, and ship it to me, I will cover all cost, plus compensate for time spent.
I'm looking for this brand, specifically:

Thanks so much!
Last time I was looking for it the R&W was essentially the only brand available in the US and even that was very hard to find, but it seems like in the intervening years a more products have been created or started to be imported to meet the increased demand for it. Anyone familiar with the options or have a link to an article that discusses them that's been written recently?
