A list of puns related to "Correspondence chess"
The Master Games tab on lichess is extremely useful but not so much in finding the line between practically and playability such as some sharp lines in the Botnivik Semi-Slav that score pretty much 50% in games but is pretty much 100% made up of ICCF games which I check with ICCF games database. Any tips on filtering or finding a database on just human master games to get a better feel on positions?
Correspondence chessΒ isΒ chessΒ played by various forms of long-distance correspondence, traditionally through theΒ postal system. Today it is usually played through a correspondence chess server, a publicΒ internetΒ chess forum, orΒ email
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correspondence_chess From wikipedia.
How it usually works is that a player decides on one move and sends a email that contains that move to the other over a day. So 24 hours to decide a move I was interested in seeing if anyone wanted to play over email! Would be fun
Now for the non chess lovers, Heyo 21 year old literature enthusiast from India, would love to give wholesome company to you in your dark times. I listen to tons of music and read tons of book so if you're interested I'll be here <3
Hey guys, how ya doing. Some time ago I was looking into female chess players, some of women's chess history, and things along those lines, and I remembered something- correspondence chess. I know of some OTB players who sometimes played correspondence, but I don't know really know about any players who mainly play correspondence and play OTB on the side. So I decided to ask reddit, cuz yall know everything somehow. Can you guys give me some names or games I could look into regarding this? I believe that Steinitz played Chigorin in a short match by correspondence, so I wanted to find more like those. Is there any match between a strong OTB player against a strong correspondence player? Thanks for your time
I have a very restrict time to play and sometimes I cant guarantee 15~30 min. to play non-stop. I was thinking about playing Correspondence but I wonder if it's not a cheating party.
I really want to play against other humans so I can properly learn and improve in it, and in case I didn't mind playing against a AI, I'd rather just play against Stockfish at my own pace.
That being said, what's your opinion about Correspondence these days? Are they worth the time spent?
And would you recommend Lichess or Chess.com for Correspondence games?
note 1: I am a 9LX player. 9LX convinced me to try correspondence 9LX/chess: chess960 correspondence?
note 2: this doesn't replace the regular correspondence. it's just another option.

Question 1: Why isn't there like this? (Or is there?)
Question 2: Would you like something like this?
i don't really wanna play correspondence as is because it's like the winner is whoever puts more time into playing the game (instead of more time into training for the game)...in the following sense:
correspondence currently is like...0 units of time + 3 day delay + 0 units of time increment. there's not quite an incentive of moving early. people see the move and get 3 days to think.
however, i wouldn't mind getting 3 days to think BEFORE you see the move: you have 3 days to think BEFORE you see the move and then you see the move and play. i believe it's very different because you would have to prepare for several moves. in ordinary correspondence you 'postpare' after seeing only 1 move.
what i'd like is for a different correspondence option have like adjournment/move sealing (like possibly for chessboxing see here or here or here) and like normal time controls eg 10min+3sec (rapid) or 3min+2sec (blitz) like this:
for example if i go to this site and click games with position? or just look at common moves in general. https://old.chesstempo.com/gamedb/opening/463
How do I go about finding an inmate to play chess with me by mail? I was wanting to play some correspondence chess by mail. And I think it would be nice to help pass the time for them.
I've had a few drinks, enough to be blacked out. I've won 201/200 games (was so good chesscom gifted me a free win). I'm decently rated at correspondence (1 day) (~16660). Basically, I wake up 6 hours before I plan on making my move, and drink nonstop while calculating all possible lines. After making the move I continue to drink to celebrate my brilliant move until I go to sleep to prepare for my next move.
I feel completely relaxed after my family that would constantly berate me for my drinking has finally left me. I can now follow my dream of becoming a chess master. The complete state of intoxication allows my brain to not only see tactical patterns unrecognizable to mere mortals, it has allowed me to develop new opening theory capable of fooling even the most seasoned grand masters. The feeling of delivering checkmate while throwing up on my monitor is AMAZING!
Hello, I have a friend who's going to be going away to basic training and we have entertained the idea of playing correspondence chess through the mail.
Is there a resource available with several printable sheet styles? I've seen a few, but I figured the pair of us would look through them together. I've looked around online, but most of what I'm finding is either a single style, online services, or a link to purchase preprinted sheets.
I'm looking for a opponent to play correspondence style chess (i.e. days per each move, not minutes) via JS8Call on 40m (or maybe another band, but I've been hanging out on 40m a lot lately). I am located in DM78 Colorado Springs, about 70 miles south of Denver, Colorado.
Standard correspondence rules would apply (opening books/databases are allowed; chess engines are not allowed) except there would be no time limit per move - it wouldn't be fair to lose a game because the band conditions were crap for a couple of days in a row.
Moves would be transmitted using algebraic notation, i.e. "1. e4 Nf6 2. Nc3 ...", and could be sent direct or via relay and left in the receiving station's message inbox.
Oh, and I'm not particularly good at chess, but I do enjoy the game a lot. :) Any takers?
With the increase of online chess, rapid and blitz are replacing classical time format. To keep up with this trend, I propose that correspondence games also allow for blitz time control. All moves should be faxed to the opponent within 3 business days. No more month-long waits for moves to arrive by mail!
Similar to the move-a-day against stockfish that weβre doing? I posed this same question to them, if you both accept Iβm sure we can set something up with the mods
I swear Iβm not a karma whore but please upvote so people will see this
UPDATE: So the polls are looking pretty well received. If this trend continues (roughly 90% in favour on each sub) over the next 24 hours Iβll randomize whose white and post the first move.
Update 2: It begins
Would anyone like to start a couple of unrated correspondence games through the mail with me? If youβd like to message me for details
I played for a while as a kid but in the last 10 years I have played only about 5 games.
Wondering if anyone still plays CC via snail mail. Been a dream but no idea how to meet anyone to play, much less without computer assistance. Any tips?
Know there are some sites online, but what I've seen they all use email which defeats the purpose for me. There is something special about looking forward to something in your hand.
My pen pal wanted to play correspondence with me. He's rated 2300 and I'm rated 75. What gives me the best shot at winning?
I'm really enjoying Lichess correspondence atm, and am looking into playing "proper" correspondence chess. To those who do play this, is there anything you would recommend I do?
I just want to slap the books out of those dork's hands.
