A list of puns related to "Constituent assembly"
'On the 1st of December, the Commission of Fundamental Rights received the president and secretary of the Chilean Basic Income Network (Red Chilena de Ingreso BΓ‘sico) Gabriela CabaΓ±a and CristΓ³bal Ramos. The intervention included the justifications of basic income as a right that should be guaranteed in the new constitutional order, as part of a wider re-articulation of the state. It also included legal considerations and different ways in which Chileβs current legal order supports the constitutional consecration of a basic income. The presenters also answered questions from members of the Convention.
The constitutional convention will present a new constitution for national approval via referendum next year. You can watch the full intervention (in Spanish) here.
Can someone help me understand the dissolution of the constituent assembly that was elected following the October Revolution? The constituent assembly seemed to be a very popular demand of the Russian people. Even Rosa Luxemburg, who was highly supportive of the Bolsheviks, seemed to view it as a cynical ploy.

The Consistuent Assembly elections of 1946 in Venezuela have ended and the results were unexpected. To no one's great surprise, Democratic Action achieved a resounding victory of one-hundred thirty seats, however the preformance of the Communist Party of Venezuela, who have achieved the second most votes with twenty seats in the assembly has upset the expected balance of power and will likely lead to a significantly more progressive constitution than was previously expected, the preformance of COPEI who until the recent broadening appeal of the Communists were widely viewed as the party most likely to recieve the silver medal have instead recieved only ten seats in the Constituent Assembly. The total number of seats in the Assembly are 160, with 130 going to AD, 20 to CV and 10 to COPEI.
The success of the Communist Party are widely viewed by both supporters and detractors to be thanks to the Central Committee's tolerance of divergent perspectives as the Party's membership rosters ballooned, the loosening of Party discipline, even if temporarily, proved to be a boon electorally. Nevertheless, because of the late entry of these dissident points of view all candidates that have been elected on the Communist Party line are associated with Las Moscovitas which will likely be a point of contention between the Party's rank-and-file and the Party leadership.
The election's tally was as follows: 999,601 or 71.1% voted for AD, 243,331 or 17.3% voted for CV and 141,418 or 10.1% voted for COPEI with 1,706 or .1% of voters casting invalid or blank ballots, voter turnout for the election was 86.6% of the population.
In the second amendment after the language issue, the Pakistani Constituent assembly after a review of the constitution by Jinnah, upon his return from the NWFP has found a major error.
The method of selection of a governor is unclear, it would therefore be decided that the governor must now be elected with varying powers and limitations to be imposed by their provinces.
The Government would also introduce upon the presidency the following:
-Election every 5 years
-2 terms of office
-In regards to succession: The Prime-Minister -> Chairman of the Senate -> Speaker of the National Assembly
The government would further impose the following upon the PM:
-The PM must be confirmed by the general assembly every 4 years
-Unlimited terms of office
Thanks to Jinnah, a major loophole that may have potentially undermined Pakistanβs democracy in the future has been closed. However, many disagree on the length of the terms, however for the sake of unity they have casted their doubts aside for now.
>in India, Bhakti or what may be called the path of devotion or hero-worship, plays apart in its politics unequalled in magnitude by the part it plays in the politics of any other country in the world. Bhakti in religion may be the road to the salvation of a soul. But in politics, Bhakti or hero worship is a sure road to degradation and to eventual dictatorship.
>In politics we will have equality and in social and economic life we will have inequality. In politics we will be recognizing the principle of one man one vote and one vote one value. In our social and economic life, we shall, by reason of our social and economic structure, continue to deny the principle of one man one value. How long shall we continue to live this life of contradictions? How long shall we continue to deny equality in our social and economic life? If we continue to deny it for long, we will do so only by putting our political democracy in peril.
The above two are of course still valid today and I feel that the Indian people really should keep them in mind but the this one below is what I am not so sure about.
> βWe must abandon the method of civil disobedience, non-cooperation and satyagraha [popular protest]β. Under an autocratic regime, there might be some justification for them, but not now, when constitutional methods of redress were available. Satyagraha and the like, said Ambedkar, were βnothing but the grammar of anarchy and the sooner they are abandoned, the better for usβ
I feel that in the backdrop of the time, a time of great optimism for the future and a general trust in the party that led the fight for independence and its leaders, it may have been valid. He believed the constitution gave enough provisions to the common man to be able to address his problems and so there was reason to abandon all means of popular protest including peaceful ones like satyagraha.
Personally I do not think that is valid today. We have seen many times, both during the Congress administrations and more recently and currently during BJP governments that citizens are unable to get the government to listen to them through constitutional methods, and it is expensive and extremely time consuming to go to the courts. What other option does that leave other than peaceful demonstrations and protests.
Do you agree with this assessment?

Following the end of the police and government worker strike on March 10th, and as the July 1st election date draws closer, the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League's unified popular front has broken. While overwhelming desire for independence remains, the San-Rance Agreement, London's confirmation of its approval for an independent Burma, and the desire of each party to succeed in the upcoming elections has led to the component parties of the AFPFL "splitting" and beginning their own, independent campaigning.
The core of the current Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL), are loyalists to Aung San, the popular party President. While other parties maintain staunch ideologies, the AFPFL at its core is Burmese nationalist and unionist - promoting the unifying of the various cultural identities into one Burmese state. To this end, the AFPFL holds an emphasis on cross-party collaboration and pragmatism, though holds a significant centre-left/left lean in its policies.
The largest breakaway group is the Burma Socialist Party (BSP), led by Ba Swe. The BSP is the most similar to the AFPFL in terms of being unionist, though the party holds a policy of non-collaboration with "imperialists" and "capitalist powers" - in other words, the main difference between the AFPFL and the BSP is the BSP's more direct left-wing and socialist policies, as well as the BSP's abandoning of the AFPFL's pragmatist priorities.
The Communist Party of Burma (CPB), led by Thakin Than Tun, is the primary far-left communist force participating in the elections. Following Marxism-Leninism, the CPB advocates for itself in the role of the vanguard party, the formation of a unified socialist republic, and the active persecution of "fascists, imperialists, capitalists, and any sympathizers."
Direct companion to the CPB, the Red Flag Communist Party (RFCP), led by Thakin Soe, is ostensibly a breakaway faction from the CPB advocating for non-participation in the electoral process and an immediate revolution against what Soe has termed a "half-hearted successor to British imperialism" - making the RFCP the sole party listed to actively not participate in the upcoming el

>"On the occasion of the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly for Pakistan, I extend to you and to the members of the Assembly, the best wishes of the Government and the people of the United States for the successful conclusion of the great work you are about to undertake."
