A list of puns related to "Christian Zionism"
After reading the article, βWhat is so American about the American Empireβ (by Srdjan Vucetic in the journal, βInternational Politicsβ), I learned there is more to the USβ strong ties with Israel than I had previously thought. Itβs not only about Islamaphobia and xenophobia and a strategic attempt to control MENA and itβs oil (not for American usage but as a tactic to exert power over the countries who depend on oil drilled from the region).
The article states that there was a whopping 25 million Christian Zionists among evangelical Americans at the time of publication (2011). It also says that Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, Patrick Henry βsome of the very founding fathers of Americaβ and more, all studied Hebrew at some point in their lives and were pondering making Hebrew the national language post-revolution.
They even considered making the US seal (the eagle clasping the olive branch and arrows) a symbol that portrayed Israelites crossing through the deserts of Egypt when headed for Canaan. The author states that such ideas were connected with the American Restoration Movementβ which was essentially a Christian Zionist movement headed by the belief that Jews needed to return to the Holy Land and establish their own state.
I feel like Christian Zionism is very overlooked and it is important to discuss when talking about the USβ unwavering relationship with Israel. Feel free to add more historical facts about this and let me know your thoughts on this matter.
Edit: The explanation of the American Restoration movement was my own, the author did not delve into too much detail other than to say it was an occurrence. The author did say
βBut note that neither restorationism nor philo-Hebraism necessarily translate into support for the Jewish state in Israel or contemporary Jews in generalβ¦ the ancient Hebrews are primarily valued for their spiritual qualities, not forβ¦ their physical presence in the Holy Land. Thus, evangelical Christians typically support Israel on the condition that all Jews will convert in the Second Coming. Americaβs support for Israel has more to do with this particular discourse of identity than with any other factor.β
Please and thank you.
Iβm literally too afraid to ask anywhere else.
How does it relate?
QAnon conspiracy theory's main tenet, that a secret world-dominating Jewish cabal is posing a danger to children worldwide.
But at the same time they want to reform the Jewish state because the bible says thatβs the sign of the end times?
So what are they actually against?
