Workers at the Casa Batlló monument in Barcelona have been waging a tough struggle against wage cuts, hour cuts, covid, and for ending the fake temporary status of contracts.
In response the S.U.T. union has been facing cop repression, scab labor (purchased, because 100% of workers joined the strike) and violence likely from company thugs.
Now, 42 days after the strike started, the company is suing the S.U.T. union for the outrageous sum of over 90,000 euros based on fake allegations of union members having caused "damages" in the building.
This is hardly something the strikers can easily afford after weeks of a small union leading a few workers in bad conditions on strike. Of course, it is very possible that the pro-employer courts rule in favor of the company, no matter whether such allegations are fake or not.
The company first published such fake allegations days ago, and it is now that they are suing. The S.U.T. union, days ago, posted a statement (English machine translation here) refuting these fake allegations and detailing how it is the strikers who have been targeted by the company for violence.
