It seems to be agreed upon almost universally by ML's that the Cambodian genocide happened. What makes the Cambodian genocide more credible than imperialist lies like the "Holodomor" and "Uyghur genocide"?

what group did this and what was their motive? and how did they spread this to the point khmers themselves believed it?
It's very simple: you urge your victim out into the Killing Fields at bayonet-point, then are ordered to shoot. You can choose either to kill the prisoner or shoot over their head. The epilogue provides info about the small number of Khmer Rouge soldiers that spared those they were ordered to execute.

Just to be clear, I think the accusations of Cambodian genocide denial are nonsense. My question is on Chomsky's response to Lacoteure's correction.
Pg. 283 Manufacturing Consent (he says in some speech elsewhere as well)- "Lacouture withdrew it a few weeks later, acknowledging he had misread his source (Ponchaud) and that the actual figure might be in the thousands".

I don't see where he says that the figure could be in the thousands. Is Chomsky referring to another piece by Lacouture, or did Chomsky misinterpret him?
