At the risk of being called an amateur and having my competence as an engineer questioned, here is my question:
Has anyone designed a bolted field splice according to AASHTO LRFD that has to carry torsion/Mx, Mz, My, axial/Fx, Fz, and Fy? Yes, all 6 degrees of freedom.
Specifically, I'm curious about the interaction of axial and shear force in the same splice plate.
Don't ask about the project, you don't want to know.

There are a lot of somewhat subtle references in the series, but I've never been able to suss out if this was a reference to something in particular, or if it was just Adams being silly.

Shot the goons, grabbed the grapple, got to the first set of platforms and got the hook attached, But all I can do is to swing parallel to the next set of girders (or swing into them). I believe I need to get to the next set of girders but can't make the rope go in that direction. What am I doing wrong?
