A list of puns related to "Box girder"
I'm a junior structural engineer. I would like to study the analysis and design of post-tensioned box girders used in bridges. Can anyone recommend any books or online references related to this topic?
Thanks.
Iβm running a FEA analysis of a box girder with βdiaphragmsβ (see image) using solid elements, but Iβm concerned that some stiffening effect could be happening because the software always shows the following message:
βCertain parts of the model are extremely thin, which can lead to long meshing/solution times and numerical instabilities in the results. Please use careful judgment when interpreting the resultsβ
Iβve seen some papers where shell elements are used for this kind of analysis, but I really donΒ΄t know how to model the so called βdiaphragmsβ using shell elements.
What you guys would recommend me to do? Perhaps refine the mesh enough and continue using solid elements?
Or is it better to use shell elements for this analysis? And if so, how could I model the diaphragms using shell elements?
P.S: The image is a half section view of the box girder
Thanks.

There are a lot of somewhat subtle references in the series, but I've never been able to suss out if this was a reference to something in particular, or if it was just Adams being silly.
Link for anyone who doesn't remember.
An elevator stands alone in the depths of the woods.
The sound of its low, electric hum grows steadily louder. Itβs subtle at first; but it rises to join the soft crunches of the sticks and ferns beneath our feet. The tiny fine hairs on the back of my neck raise up in response.
There are no birds now. No insects. Just the crunch, and that soft, steady hum.
The elevator stands as a steel obelisk in the centre of a small clearing. Pine needles litter the ground. They are illuminated in faint blue and neon green from the elevatorβs two small lights in the darkness.
There are no buildings anywhere near here. Nothing urban or man-made. Just endless, dark forest⦠Leaves, pine⦠and this elevator.
The doors are closed, and thereβs a single, shiny silver button embedded into the frame.
I come to a stop; anxious, but trying not to show it. James and Maya stop too, though James steps the closest. Ever the bravest, ever the dumbest. He takes another step, then another, and places his hand on the elevator door. He turns around to grin at us, the side of his face illuminated in the green glow.
βItβs warmβ, he says quietly, his grin widening. βAre you guys ready?β
Are we readyβ¦
What seemed like a great idea in the middle of the afternoon now seems foolish and dangerous. Hell, scary too, Iβll admit it. I glance over to Maya. Iβm not going to be the one to suggest we chicken out, but if she brings it upβ¦ well, then Iβll back her.
I silently hope that she says something.
β¦But she does not. She only shifts silently from foot to foot.
And James takes our silence as a response.
He turns back to the elevator and presses the button.
For a moment, nothing happens. I realize that I am holding my breath and we wait, and we listen.
A soft whirring joins the rumble beneath the ground. An LED β-Xβ appears above the elevatorβs doors on a dusty screen, then it quickly changes into a -4.
Then; -3.
-2.
-1.
β¦And 0.
With a soft βdingβ, the elevator doors slide open, revealing a pretty standard inner-compartment inside. We look back into our own faces in the mirror that covers the elevatorβs back wall.
Behind us is the illusion of the eternal forest.
James claps his hands and breaks the tension.
βOkay ladies, here we go! We goinβ downβ.
βJamesβ, Maya murmurs, βI donβt know about this. This thing could go anywhereβ.
He sighs. βDonβt go back on me now, girl. Itβs okay, weβll all be together! Weβll just go down, check it out, take some picsβ¦ Maybe a video

Many of us have followed the case since the first announcement that they had gone missing, others came later on, no matter when you began to become interested in this case, we all have one thing in common. We want to see Justice for these two precious children who were on the cusp of high school and the dreams of College and the world beyond.
For those who may be brand new to this case, Abby and Libby were two best friends who went on a hike to a trail in Delphi, IN on a crisp, clear Monday in February in 2017, the 13th to be exact. They would be dropped off at 1:37 by Libby's older sister Kelsi with the plan that Libby's father, Derek, would pick them up around 3:00 or 3:15pm. The girls went on the trail and ended up on the Monon High Bridge, a deck girder bridge with trestle tower supports, sitting on concrete and cut limestone block piers, sitting 60 feet in the air. It was built in 1891, and was part of the former Monon Railroad's Indy to Chicago "Air Line", this is one of two large bridges of similar design on this route. Owasco is the other. It was abandoned in 1987 and the rails were removed. It has sat silent over Deer Creek all of this time. The girls planned on taking photographs at the bridge. Libby actually uploaded a couple of photos to Snap Chat that day. The last being at 2:07pm of Abby standing on the bridge. At some point after this the girls ran into a man on this bridge coming towards them from the north side of the trail. They were alarmed, quite possibly because of how quickly he was approaching them, it was fairly well known you normally would wait for someone to get off the bridge before beginning to cross. Because of the narrow deck and people not being comfortable, so it was like a courtesy thing. What transpired is the horror we only think of in nightmares. The girls were ordered "down the hill" on the SE side of the bridge by this man. Libby had to for thought to not only capture a photo of him but also she turned on her video capture of her Iphone6. She would be hailed a h

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
On an outer space adventure to research a strange energy source moving faster than light in an experimental rocket, four people got hit by cosmic rays. While usually harmless, the rays were affected by this energy source, changing the four forever in the most fantastic ways. Reed Richards is elastic, Sue can fade from sight, Johnny's the Human Torch, and the Thing just loves to fight (according to the intro song, at least, while his actual power is being made an orange rocky thing with great strength). Together, they use their power for good as the Fantastic Four, saving people from foes ranging from the Doctor Doom to Galactus to Puppet Master.
Really, they're the same group we all know going through the same famous stories, only animated in the nineties.

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

The Xiaolin Dragon of the Wind, Raimundo Pedrosa is one of the chosen heroes of Xiaolin Showdown, seeking the Shen Gong Wu, mystical artifacts of great power.
Raimundo was the Dragon most uncomfortable with the lifestyle, even betraying the team but redeemed himself and worked to never break again. This allowed him to become the Xiaolin Leader.
Note: Raimundo and the other Xiaolin Dragons get stronger each season, unlocking new powers and forms. The feats are labeled by season and in chronological form. Bolded feats are the best of their category. All links have sound.
Notable scaling: Jack's robots ("Jackbots") are strong enough to tear down trees.
Season 2 Clay can kick the Cyclops through several mesas. The Cyclops tanked it
Season 2 era Chase Young oneshot the Cyclops by kicking a helmet into its face.
Season 2 era Chase Young defeated all four monks at once.
Season 2 era Chase reversed three of the monk's powers
Season 2 era Chase caught Raimundo's punches and easily overpowered him
Season 1 Omi can walk around the center of the Earth
Early season 2 Omi can shatter a boulder and thick ice four times his size.
Master Monk Guan blasted Chase Young through a maze to KO him.
Hannibal Roy Bean negated three monks' powers in his first appearance.

We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
Note: This rant is not here to debate anything other than the notion that the setting of Final Fantasy VII is "street level" (whatever that means), "building level", "tied up by rope level", "subsonic", only "supersonic" or whatever else setting. Not the true power of Final Fantasy VII, how powerful certain characters are in relation to others, the validity of a certain feat of stellar controversy, or anything like that. Put it simply this rant will be limited and will not be about everything to to with this settings power level.
It will also only be using feats from the original compilation of Final Fantasy VII not the Final Fantasy VII remake, which I would not be able to comment on since I am unfamilar with. It does not matter anyway however since they are different settings.
Without further ado I will be adressing the arguments which some battle boarders use to dissmiss some of Final Fantasy VII's feats and downplay many of its characters to.
###"Everything anyone uses to argue Final Fantasy VII being whatever power level is just gameplay its not canon."
The "gameplay is not canon" and or the "game mechanics" argument, its not overly commonly now but still worth adressing. It relies on an incorrect definition of what game mechanics are, with game mechanics being arbitrary hit points, levels and other similar values which are not quantifiable and do not actually exist in canon unless shown otherwise. Any sort of scripted animation sequence done by a character in gameplay which is not related to the aforementioned is not un-cannon unless specified so. So none of this should even be needed to be stated.
However...
###Final Fantas VII actually has canon game mechanics.
For instance...
Leveling up literally happens. As shown when Zack references it in a DMW scene, which is not contradicted. Just do not jump to conclusions on how this may work for scaling since even leveling up does not seem to make Zack more powerful.
Zack said - "You bet I leveled up and everything!"
Save points are shown to exist outside of gameplay. With Zack attempting to save his progress at one.
The limit gauge more than just a game mechanic as it actually builds up over time as shown by a random girl who is able to use a limit break after being attacked by their opponent.
