Okay so I’ve always thought of BSP as a top tier album. It may just be because I got really into Mac when it came out and it could just be nostalgia, but I love that album and I thought we were all on the same page. Now with all these rankings being posted I’ve realized BSP is one of the overall least favorites and I really just want to know why. I’m not hating lol I’m really just interested. On the other hand, I want to know why everyone loves Watching Movies so much. I know it’s a sin lol but it’s always been my least favorite. I just can’t get into all the features and I guess I just don’t relate with the lyrics as much as I do with other albums. Also, Live From Space is probably my favorite album, which I know is very unpopular.
I don’t know how controversial these takes were - I’m hoping no one gets upset. I’m a long time machead. I genuinely love the guy more than most people I know irl, so please be niiiice :) I just think it’d be interesting to share what our favorite and least favorite things are about each album and why. I might make separate posts about each album, I just didn’t want this post to get toooo long.
I think it’s be interesting to hear how everyone “hears” the albums differently I guess? Like we’re all one in the same but it is cool to hear how different we listen. I’ve been very consistently listening to Mac for a little over 10 years, but I really didn’t care much for GOOD AM until about 3 months ago I read someone take on it on this sub and immediately got obsessed, listened to it on repeat for like a month and now I love it. I really want to like WMWTSO, hoping someone could give some cool insight. And very curious to see how everyone hears the albums differently

On November 8th 2011 Mac Miller released his debut album ”Blue Slide Park“.
Although it did not receive great reviews and therefore was never critically acclaimed, it is still a nostalgic roller coaster ride to listen to 10 years later and really puts Mac‘s growth in perspective.
What are your thoughts on the album? Favorite songs?

So I’m a huge Mac fan. Listened to everything even projects that aren’t on streaming; but never Blue Slide Park. I think it this is due to both its reputation (a mediocre album by Macs standards) abs I’ve kinda held onto it being one the project i never heard so it would always be “new content” whenever I decided to listen. Today for the albums 10 year anniversary I decided today was the right day to give it first listen. Was still very impressed and great listen.
Anyone else think Blue Slide Park is actually a really good follow up to the KIDS, ILL, BDE run? Idk I feel like it’s got a good mix of all 3 projects and you can hear macs maturity but also that original sound he was running with. There’s also definitely some experimental shit going on with the beats in BSP that kind of hint where he was going to take Macadelic. Idk the album definitely seems like it gets way too much hate and/or is underrated. Definitely has some bangers IMO.
I see blue slide park talked about as the worst thing in his discography, and I don’t know why, I freaking love this album. I think people don’t like it because it’s cringy I guess, but I don’t see that. I love it just because it’s not really about anything, it’s just fun to listen to. Idk why people rank it so low in his catalogue
