A list of puns related to "BitTorrent"
During my internship at Nautilus Cyberneering GmbH I've worked on a suite of open-source BitTorrent software, called "Torrust". Project Torrust aims to provide an easy way to host your own (private) torrent indexes/trackers. Most of the project is written in Rust for its memory safety and similar performance to C/C++. The Torrust project consists of two parts:
A feature-rich BitTorrent tracker: source (Rust)- UDP and HTTP (with optionally SSL) mode- 4 different tracking modes (Public, Whitelisted, Private & Private + Whitelisted)- Optional time-bound authentication keys for Private/PrivateWhitelisted modes- A REST API to easily manage the tracker (whitelist torrents, issue keys etc..)- Implemented BEPs: 15, 23, 27, 41,48- Amazing performance thanks to Rust!
A torrent indexing website: source (Rust + Vue)- User authentication- Torrent uploading/downloading- Torrent searching/filtering/ordering- Basic moderation tools (torrent deletion & user banning)
NOTE: The tracker can be used standalone, but the indexing website currently only works with the Torrust tracker.
I'd love to hear your feedback !
EDIT: New contributions (be it in code, documentation, logo etc..) are very much welcome! You can open a pull-request or contact me on `mick@dutchbits.nl` or Discord: `Warm Beer#3352`
Nice one, btc huge gains and btt new like a stone, going down on a big up day...
Reformatted my old mac and lost my BitTorrent web app. When I tried to re download the web app, it says itβs no longer compatible.
Iβve been looking for an old compatible instal file but canβt seem to find a source.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm 26 and must have started using BitTorrent when I was 12-13. My mom worked for Raytheon at the time. I remember she used 2FA for her laptop and consciously encouraged me to understand the internet and PCs (now 56 she has since defected to mac and has a hard time using a firestick). That being said I was trouble for my parents. I created labyrinth like directories and file stores with hidden files and such to store my treasure (no pun intended). I had over 5,000 Lil Wayne songs and never missed a new album but was always intrigued by the idea of banned or hidden knowledge; the esoteric if you will (on that note, I felt like one of the early users of 4chan and am shocked at what was available for browsing back then!) Fast forward 13 years and I am amazed by how the internet changed, but thankful for the community I have found here in Chia that actually educates me, in forum, on the future of the internet and seems to effortfully dissuade scams. I wonder how many here have a similar narrative and how many have found equal interest and passion in a community that I feel like I've been a part of for a long time?

Does anyone know what is happening with BTT? My account still shows my coins but the value is $0. It also changed to BTTold and there is a BTTC. Thanks.
Appreciation to developers!
Hybrid option is excellent.
I'd like to see a modern bittorrent client that uses modern Windows design language (Mica, Acrylic, etc.)
I wonder if anything like that exists? Thanks, have a great day! :D

Hi, der BTT Token ist ja vorerst eingefroren. Wie bzw. Wann wird es weitergehen? Wird der coin automatisch in den "neuen" geswapped?
In my wallet I have my BTT coins but for two days now it's showed it's price as 0 and cannot access the BTT chart?
So say I've got a lot of large files (50-100gb+) that rarely change I need to make available to users that are potentially remote. Many of my users have these files already. Peer-To-Peer file sharing via BitTorrent seems like a nice solution to this, that potentially decentralizes the network requirements. For example, I could set up a seed box in a remote office that a few people use and they will have a much better experience getting these files than if they had to download them over the internet. I'm also hoping such a protocol performs much better over WAN/VPN links than the performance we get out of SMB right now.
I know there are other techs, like DFSR, but these all generally require enterprise equipment and licensing. I'm also aware of some things like rsync, but these don't handle the last-mile to windows desktops I think.
I've never created a Torrent, so I don't know the typical tools involved yet, but I wanted to ask if anyone has ever done such a thing, or has any thoughts on this. Specifically regarding the client software and configuration up one might use, and any considerations I am maybe missing that would make this sub-optimal. I think I'd like to restrict the traffic to our VPN if possible, to avoid any issues with firewalls in hostile environments (we use a Peer-to-peer VPN solutions anyway, no real servers, just a few routers here and there).
Hi everyone! Sorry for the long break, but I really needed it!
I'm a senior developer on VLC 4.0 and I've been working on this innovative player designed to stream videos from a single query. It streams BitTorrent and supports a variety of video backends. All of this while serving your best interests at all time.

Version 1.3.0 is an important milestone for the application. Adding Youtube and Twitch live streams along with Chromecast capabilities. Not to mention the updated torrent search with multiple queries at the same time. It's the most universal player out there and we're just getting started -- But I need your support and I want your love β¬.

The first ever DEX is launching on BTTC.
You who know I'm always looking for that next one. I think I've found it, here's a breakdown I did, make your own decision.
Here's what I learned yesterday:
HURDLES
There was one part of the process that could have been easier, though it's not the fault of the TorrentSwap team. It's just difficult to get bridged over to the chain. You have to start on TRON and buy a little TRX for gas, then buy your BTT tokens (needed for gas on BTTC). Then you have to put in your wallet settings in (most likely) Metamask

Dear BitMart users,
BitMart will support BTT migration and provide users with a swap service, so users on the platform can complete the exchange without any actions. The detailed arrangements are as follows.
BitMart will suspend BTT deposit, withdrawal, and trade features at 5:00 AM on Jan. 17 2022 (EST). BitMart will distribute new tokens (BTTC) according to the ratio afterward, based on the snapshot records. The conversion ratio is 1:1,000.

In case you guys havenβt heard, Tron and Bittorrentβs Layer 2 cross-chain solution launches today! It will bridge the ETH, BSC, and TRX networks and allow for interoperability and communication between all three chains. They are also planning more bridges in the future including HECO and other blockchains. Their aim is to provide fast (up to 7,000 TPS) and cheap (avg. $0.01) seamless transactions between these blockchains. Hereβs to hoping that all the blockchains can work together to build a better cryptoverse for all!

Hi, I recently exchanged my old for the new Bittorrent, but don't know how to track the new one in CoinMarketCap as BTT (new) is untracked. Any suggestions?
Bittorrent clients require efficient and random file IO on small to extremely large piece sizes. Since its difficult to know what pieces will be requested by other peers or which pieces you will next receive, it seems like a difficult problem to perform optimized IO.
Usually the strategy (from what I read online) would be using memory mapping but to me it seems like memory mapping would be difficult to use due to the size of bittorrent files, and tiling the memory mapping would not achieve much faster speeds as pieces can be randomly spread throughout any possible tile with similar chance.
The alternate approach I would think would be to use some kind of buffered writes although for this approach I have a hard time seeing how that would be implemented.
Additionally I would be curious to know how threading/multiprocessing/event loops would help achieve greater throughput.
I am most interested in the theory although examples/information specific to C/C++/C#/Python or other languages would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Is there a BitTorrent client that is feature rich specifically for making torrents? I don't want to upload to a cloud storage service as a torrent is faster and takes less time to create.
