A list of puns related to "Batter (walls)"
Is there any good reason at this point why it couldnβt just be made into an optional, symbolic/ceremonial exercise? It just seems so weird for a guy to hit a ball 450 feet and be called out because he didnβt touch 2ndβ¦
Edit: I guess I should specify what I mean by βpractical reasonβ, because as many comments have correctly pointed out, sometimes rules are just rules because thatβs the way the game was created. This is true, however Iβm thinking of an actual, tangible, potential for an undesirable occurrence should the rule not exist.
For example: There is a practical reason the rules stipulate that a runner must tag up on a fly ball and cannot advance until the ball is caught or hits the ground. If that rule didnβt exist, you could have runners scoring from first on a tall routine pop fly. Which is not super exciting, and cheapens the value of a run.
The infield fly rule is another example, if that rule didnβt exist, youβd have the potential for cheap double plays every time you had runners on first and second.
In many locations, among others the Wikipedia article of the battering ram and this post on this very subreddit, I see it mentioned that battering rams were used to break down walls, in addition to gates.
While I have no problem accepting the fact that stone isn't very flexible and will crack when struck very hard with a heavy object, I have my doubts that a 'normal-sized' ram (like the one seen in this Youtube video) would be able to break through or significantly damage a 15 meters high, 3 meters thick wall in any realistic time frame, that is to say: before the ram itself, in spite of any protection on it, is destroyed by the defenders. I'm not referring to any specific wall, here, just extrapolating dimensions from looking at the Wikipedia article of known dimensions.
Of course, there were monstrosities such as the ram of Hegetor, but given the ridiculous dimensions of that thing, I wouldn't necessarily call that a standard ram β although of course, I could be all wrong on my assumptions on the size of a standard ram.
So, to reiterate my question: could a standard ram really break down a fortified wall? (Or for a secondary question: are my assumptions of the dimensions of walls and rams anywhere near accurate?)
A baseball batter goes (SMACK) AHHHHHH a skydiver goes AHHHHH (SMACK)
So I went through the new time-based UI to setup our rates and schedules, it worked great. During the day it will sometimes power the house from the grid so that 100% of the solar can be used to charge the battery quickly. Great! However, now during on-peak times (4pm - 9pm) the battery isn't being used! I'm so confused. Granted, during this time of year, the difference between on-peak and off-peak rates is $0.02/kwh, but if it's not going to pull from the battery during on-peak, what's it saving it for?
There's no Storm Watch warning or anything, so it doesn't appear to be saving up the battery in case of emergency. It just sits there at 100-99% all day and into the night.
Screenshots showing usage at 5:48, right in the middle of on-peak times, as well as my time-based control config: https://imgur.com/a/2BbGxzO
I currently have the buy and sell rates set to the same amount, maybe this is having an affect? Tesla thinks I can somehow *make* more money than it would cost me if I just maxed out the battery and sent all solar into the grid? I'm going to try setting the sell price to $0 and see if that makes a difference...
Hey everyone, been playing for a few seasons (very casually). I have pretty low Edit sensitivity because Iβm horrible with wall edits; specifically corner edits, my sense is 1.1, it was 1.6 which I love for stairs, floors and cones but I canβt do any wall edits at that sense. Any tips to increase my sense?
