A list of puns related to "Banya (sauna)"
Hey all.
I'm looking for a classic Russian sauna (banya) - you know the one where you're being gently hit by hot, leafy birch branches as a form of spa service.
I could only find some incredibly trashy places, unfortunately.
I'm a love of all things sauna myself, and I'm very curious what traditions and customs different European countries have. Do you drink alcohol before/during/after? Tea? Do women and men have separate facilities, or are they integrated? Is it a rich person's hobby, or does everyone do it? Is it more a family affair, or are public saunas popular?
Thank you!
So in Slavic and some European countries sauna/banya is a big thing. You rent one, go there and drink with your friends, make shashlik, do therapeutic stuff like hit eachother with branches, jump into the snow or an ice cold pool or into an icy lake after being in the super hot sauna, etc. Is there anywhere in MN that you can rent a sauna and have a similar experience? I know there are a lot of people with heritage from Sweden, Ukraine, Russia, and many other countries that practice this. Surely someone has already filled the niche?
Does anyone know if such a thing exists here? Willing to travel for this quite a distance too.
I love saunas, but surviving the Russian one is completely a different thing π I had to run outside and jump into snow π then run back inside π and you know what? I liked it!
Are there any Russian banyas (saunas) in the area? It doesn't even have to be Russian, it could be Japanese, Korean, Chinese or Finnish. Obviously the more authentically Russian the better. I keep reading about this Russian banya experience where you go in all hot and then quickly outside in the cold icy water to refocus your brain.
So in Warsaw on an extended trio. It's freaking cold and I really want to get a decent sweat on. I kinda thought that by now there's be like a banya, Turkish bath or steam/sauna to go sit in for a few hours. I can't seem to find any. Anyone maybe now of somewhere hidden. I'm a dude btw, want a sweatbox, not a pampering spa.
I'm trying to get my banya on this holiday season :) Can't think of many ways I'd rather kill an afternoon than hanging out with friends whilst drinking vodka, sweating, and eating pickled things. Thank you r/StLouis!
I've only ever been to the Russian and Turkish Baths in Manhattan (East Village). I'm looking for a similar spot - please include pricing for general admission. I really want to Shvitz. Thanks in advance.
Do you know of any Russian steam baths, often known as banyas, that are metro-accessible?
The closest thing I found online was the Korean bath house Spa World. That place sounds great but it's all the way out in Centreville, which is impossible to get to without a car. Apparently local Russians go there because it's the closest they can get to the real thing.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a sauna/banya in Denver? Good/bad experiences? Thanks!
Not looking for normal saunas. If I can't get beaten with some birch by a stranger I'm not interested.
I have a coworker who has been sick this week and was telling me about when he was younger, that every Saturday his grandfather would spend all day getting a Banya ready. Up until he left for Canada about 15 years ago, every Saturday it was something he would do. Long story short, is there any place in Calgary (or area) that does Banya?
For those of you who want to know what it is, check this out
Personally, I don't know if I would find it that enjoyable, but he was really enthusiastic talking about it, and how much he misses it.
I love a good sauna but not sure if there are any commercial saunas in Anchorage. I have full day left in my trip and I really want to get a good sweat in. So do you or someone you know have any leads on a sauna that can reach up to 240Β°F?
Hot springs are fun too but I don't think I will make it out to any of the ones in Fairbanks.
Sorry for posting so much in your sub. It will be over soon.
I am a relaxed, humorous, talkative and a chivalrous white man, just turned 30. Many times I've been to Archimedes Banya, I've really enjoyed it.
It's a very classy, clean, coed Russian bath with many saunas, pools and a rooftop deck.
Already in a long distance relationship, I'm just looking for platonic company. I enjoy listening to others stories and debating anything and everything under the sun.
Hello dear friends - hope you are having a really good and pleasant day!
I really am into the sauna / banya culture and there is nothing like it when it comes to health and relaxing benefits. To me it is one of the best ways of how to calm down and get my energy back after after a hard shift or so. Paying 15β¬ That's why I have been thinking about getting a banya of my own. However there is one big obstacle I have to overcome - the price. I mean it is not that hard to build it if you have enough money but honestly I am not that rich to buy this fancy kind of stuff myself. This also did not stop me from thinking further. How were / are the people living in the small remote villages back then building their own banya? I doubt they had all this modern technologies and the money so maybe they were keeping the things much more simple and cost effective. People back then were also much more smart about DIY and some tips and hacks how to do something without risking the results to be too expensive / complicated. Do you have any tips about how to build a real (and hopefully cheap) village banya for myself? And yes since we live near the forrest I have some means of how to buy some building wood cheaper.
Also if you have any materials and sources (even in Russian) do share them!
Thank you a million times!
What is widely considered the best day spa in the city? I know that there is one Banya (haven't been yet). So looking for recommendations
Has anyone been to Chicago Sweatlodge before? What was your experience like?
Hi,
Does anyone know if Russian banyas in the area? I can only find one on google and itβs in Detroit. Other ethnic bathhouses like Finnish spas and Turkish Hammams are fine too, I just prefer Russian.
I donβt want some bougie new age crap like Oasis. Just give me a hot room where I can whack myself with some sticks.
Does anyone have much information on Archimedes banya? Thinking about going but hearing different thoughts on the place thank you in advance
Never been before but always wanted to try it. Fingers crossed for a relaxing experience! Weβll seeβ¦. May post a review afterwards.
I've been looking for a gym that has a sauna I could use whenever they're open, or similarly, a spa like Archimedes Banya that's reasonably priced and doesn't require hands-on staff like a massage spa service does.
Basically looking for an easy to access sauna I could use several times a week. Anybody have any advice or suggestions?
(Btw: I used to be a member at the City Center gym over in Oakland but I'm really looking for something on the Island, and I'm not a fan of how they tried to charge membership fees while they were closed during the pandemic.)
