A list of puns related to "Asset stripping"
By offering steam deck optimized settings developers could add to their games, we could get games that launch out the gate with the best settings to hit 60 fps with the best quality. Still would have tweaking of graphic options, but it would reduce a lot of friction for more casual gamers/ people who want a more console experience.
Secondly, and imo more importantly, they could offer downloads of games that remove the higher resolution assets and 4k textures as those take up a huge amount of storage. If they only included the 1280x800p assets they could reduce a lot of games sizes by over 50% if not more. This would really help with the FUD around if the lower storage options are viable for pc gaming. The switch is able to offer smaller games for this exact reason. It really seems like these two things could make this device even more perfect than I hope it will be.
Obviously they should still allow the ability to download the higher resolution assets for people who will dock to external monitors, but by providing it as an option it could really optimize the storage space they have given us. I really do think these two features should be a must by the time the deck launches.
let me know what you think of these ideas and maybe we can show valve how popular these features would be and how it would let users get the most out of their steam decks.
All the signs are that Stillfront/GGE seem to be taking as much from the game as they can before probably winding it up, or doing something drastic, and close to it.
Many are noticing that with the massive and costly changes to the Master Blacksmith which was one of the last remaining things they could class as Free to Play, in as much as you used in game rewards and tokens to pay for extra items and equipment. Stillfront followed these removals and changes by flooding the in-game real money offers with these same removed items thus further making the game a pay to play.
Stillfront should be disgusted with this slap to the free to play players, and be forced to remove the games status as free to play. There has to be a minimum level within the game that the owners can say is free in order to be classed as F2P, and I feel that now no longer exists. I know that many people try the game, especially the younger generation as they see its advertised as F2P, and that is drawing in players illegaly, now after so much of the F2P part of the game has been removed. Whether this makes it a case for trading standards or one of the gaming commisions, someone should look at it and act.
This should also be done as the owners no longer enforce their own Terms and Conditions when it concerns, multiaccounts, and shell accounts, and of course what goes hand in hand with these breaches, fraud and money laundering. Even though against Stillfronts T&C , accounts, stolen castles and Ops are sold openely on the internet, and nothing is done despite how large this has got and the money involved. All this as it affects stillfronts revenue, and this is the reason they won't act on their own T&C.
Alright so I have a crazy theory but I think it might be true:
I think I know whatβs happening at this club and Iβve seen it before. I think Fisher is asset stripping, and hear me out.
This is defined as when an owner of a company or organization (e.g. Quakes) βsells each of its assets separately at a profit without regard for the company's (or organizationβs) future.β
I know it when I see it because Iβm also a Southampton fan and our owners have been doing this for years. Consider all the assets that Southampton have sold in the form of players: Lallana, ManΓ©, Van Dijk, Clyne, Shaw, Lambert, Lovren, Schneiderlin, Wanyama. Even Gareth Bale in the 2000s. All these players were sold for immense profits with little regard for the teamβs future, and Southampton went from pushing for Europa League to fighting relegation.
Now consider whatβs happening at Quakes:
If the Eriksson transfer goes through, that will mean three valuable Quakes βassetsβ will have been sold for the purpose of profit and with little concern for the well-being of this football club. And if Southampton is any indicator of whatβs to come, this might be only the beginning.
I see a lot of people online who take large issue with PE firms who buy out failing, undervalued businesses and sell off the parts for more than people expected them to be worth. Why do people seem to get really upset at this online? Beyond the closing doors of beloved brands, I mean. It seems like people think of this as capitalism gone off the rails, but to me it looks like buying a junk car and selling the parts for profit. What am I missing?
Are we witnessing the asset stripping of the club in real time? Are the Dave's pocketing the money to then leave us in the lurch? Β£-15million net spend? No longer own ground?- Looks like it to me.
