A list of puns related to "Arkham Horror"
So I'm running through Pandemic Legacy: Season 0 with a full 4 players right now and it's fantastic...but the entire game always feels like it's right on the brink of spiralling out of control. Arkham Horror LCG also gives me that same feeling of "Ok, everything is bad. How do we get out of this terrible situation suffering the least damage?"
"Oh shit, another cultist?" - It makes these games tense, exciting, and puzzling. I truly don't think they would work as well as they do without it. Pandemic without epidemic cards is boring.
...but sometimes I want the exact opposite feeling in a gaming session.
What games do this for you? When you're playing, you feel: "Oh look at my abundance of good stuff!" Doesn't have to be co-op.
I've been reading through a bunch of posts and the pinned guide, but their all pretty old at this point and outdated. Also there are so many different opinions it's a bit confusing on what to buy. I added a couple things to my cart based on the pinned posts and people comments...
So far I have in my cart:
Is this what I should buy as an absolutely new player looking to get into the game?
If not can you share a list of what to buy? (like literally tell me "buy x and y and z").
Thanks,
EDIT: It seems somebody really needs to make a new beginner guide, the one in the top pinned post is TERRIBLE. It tells newbs like me to buy multiple expansions and investigators before even attempting to play the game. The comments in this post are 1000% better and more helpful.
EDIT 2: Shout out to user u/zacharylky , who updated his pinned guide based some recommendations I and others gave here. It's now so much easier to understand and very helpful!
To better define, Pot Of Greed is a simple card that is so powerful it got banned from tournament in YuGiOh, with that being said which card would you think is similar to pot of greed?
This is a game where you have to explore various spots of a small town to uncover clues. Youβre picking your action and rolling dice to determine if you succeed or not, all while a doom counter counts down.
Yes, there are similarities to other games (like Clue/Cluedo), but playing this cooperative game definitely gave me vibes gameplay-wise. Also you donβt have to explain what an βancient old oneβ is to your preschooler, which is maybe a plus in the long runβ¦.
After yesterday's post asking the community what games you like and why, I became really excited about Arkham Horror LCG.
I am very interested to get into Arkham Horror LCG but I am also aware that the cost can be quite hefty. If I am not wrong, there are around 8 expansions currently. If I only buy the Revised Core + 1 Deluxe Expansion, I have the following questions:
Thank you for sharing!
Thinking about trying Arkham Horror. I see multiple core sets available and I'd like to start with the small to see if I like the game. If it tuns out that I like it can I expand to the full core set by purchasing add-ons, or does the big box have cards that I couldn't get any other way?
I also know it's a game of surprises where the first playthrough is the most fun, so is the smaller set missing any of the best elements of the full set? And are there any booster packs/character decks that you would recommend picking up before playing?
Arkham Horror has some great narrative driven campaigns with consequences of your results from one scenario affecting future scenarios.
I appreciate that AH is a very different game but it should be possible to create something similar in MC.
Just spitballing designing a series of scenarios using the existing card pool, preferring to use would minimal custom / new cards.
Just putting the idea out there for discussion / design ideas.
Recently got into the game and had been disappointed to find out that the novellas weren't available anywhere for a decent price. Put some restock alerts on them on Miniatute Market anyway on the off chance they ever came back in stock. Imagine my surprise when I got an email this evening letting me know the Gloria Goldberg novella was back in stock. Ordered one myself, and the site says there's still plenty left (20+). Thought I'd post here as I hadn't seen anyone else talking about it yet.

So, I don't know about everyone else, but I really liked the tri-class cards added in Edge of the Earth: Antiquary, Bruiser, Crafty, Prophetic, and Sleuth. They were not only new in class access, but enticed players to build into or around a few specific card traits. Of course, taking full advantage of any one of those cards was difficult, but it made me think: "What if each card had an investigator perfectly suited to use it? They would neutrals (which are vastly underrepresented), but not with full class access a la Lola Hayes." Thus, these investigators were made. Hope you like.
Games all in very good condition. Local pickup or buyer pays shipping.

Iβve just completed night of the zealot part 1 - the gathering, ready to start part 2 - the midnight masks. Do I shuffle my discarded cards back into my deck or are they gone for the whole campaign now?
Hello, Arkhamites.
I'm new to posting, but after roughly one year of dabbling my foot in the pond of custom content, I wanted to present my play group as investigators to the community. Each is a pseudonym or alternate spelling of someone who is or was a regular in my gaming group. They have all been playtested, but I am more than open to comments and criticisms.
https://imgur.com/gallery/uIMMssI
The first 6 are relatively standard investigators. The second 6 are "promo" investigators where I got a little loose with the rules. I wanted to try interesting or odd design choices and see if they could remain balanced. (Edit: imgur has them out of order. Jennifer, Dustin, Mickey, Kristopher, Mark, and Daniel are the regular investigators. The others are the "promos.")
For those who are interested, here is a Steam Workshop link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2719373159. It should be coded to place all the cards in the appropriate placement for the Arkham Horror LCG Complete Edition on Tabletop Simulator. A campaign, complete with player cards, entitled The Lost City of Sarnath should be coming sometime in the future.
Edit: Seen some complaints about image resolution, so I have posted each character separately. Give the people what they want!

Guys I need some help understanding the issue. I'm really confused. So I got AH:LCG about 4 month ago, after reading all the positive reviews and comments about it. I played it(the core box) didn't like it, but the comments... All the comments online... They say it's like the best, top of the year, a game to end all games. I must be mad. I read forums, I read everything I can find on AHLCG. A theory emerges "the core box sux, dunvich is much better". So I bought dunvich legacy fully expecting it to change my mind. Nope, stopped halway to the end. Put it online to sell.
But I just cant get it out of my head. And not in the way like "oh, I'd like to try again, there were some fun moments", more like "it dragged like hell, it was repetetive, depressing and extremely punishing, and I was never in control of anything, why the heck people are obsessed with it"
I am a reasonable person, I can see other's opinions, I understand that I may not like what others like, but still see the fun in it. the issue for me is that in most cases my monkey brain is with the majority, "I like what everybody likes, cause if everybody likes it, then it's popular, and most cases popular=fun". But AHLCG Is. Not. Fun. And I dont understand why everybody likes it.
So basically every round you do 3 actions, most of them are skill checks, and they are not fun, cause you constantly fail. Sometimes you fail so much that you get damage. Sometimes you succeed, and find a clue, and then this clue is taken from you just because "screw you". Sometimes all you actions are wasted on failed skill checks. And, OK, sometimes you just succede, but purely cause you're lucky.
Sometimes you fight, and oh, what is it? Oh yeah, skill checks! Haha, i missed you old friend. So there is 1 strategy for fighting: try to disengage end kick it while it's on the ground. And sometimes you fail, all... 3... Checks... Not fun
Then it's monster phase, they just kick you, at least it's not a skill check.
Then there's some rest, you get this box token and a card, and it never feels exciting or helpful, cause you know what's coming next, yup, you guessed it, you get smacked on the head with this depression token (forgot what it's called) sometimes 2, and an enemie or skill checks again.
Basically if you want to get the feel of the game, just reread my rant 5-9 times and it'll save you some money.
And, I guess, I'll repeat myself, but where are all the negative reviews and comments, am I the only one seeing th

For off-wishlist trades: Feel free to offer! Once I find some free time, I'll check out some videos/reviews for the offered game(s) and go with 1 of 2 options if I opt to trade:
For games I'm interested in enough to KEEP, looking for roughly equal value between the trade items (factoring in MSRP and game condition)
For other offers that I'd trade to RE-LIST, looking for slightly higher value on offers to compensate for work. Most of my trades end up in this category, so please feel free to offer!
I would much rather trade these (see below) but would be open to selling outright much more willing to sell outright locally.
Arkham Horror The Card Game $700 plus shipping
Essentially this includes everything but the newest core set and the newest expansion These is one set of promo cards missing as well. In the photos I have the complete list. Note it is two original cores but only one set of tokens. I have a draw bag, some 3d printed items as well that I will include if the buyer wants them. I will also include the artist case but realize that will exponentially increase shipping. This will not include the books just the promo cards that came in them. Any of the online stuff I have printed will also be included.
Shadows of Brimstone 200 plus shipping
City of Ancients, Swamps of Death, Frontier Town, Custodians of Targa with Pylons Enemy Pack, Outlaw Hero Class As can be seen in the pictures some of these items are painted, they were not painted by me I think they look fine.
Also have a fairly large Battlelore First Edition Collection if someone was interested in I would be willing to take a look at what all is in it and post here.
I would prefer to trade for comics. I would be looking for ASM, Wolverine, Invincible, Fantastic Four, X-men or Captain America, Nightwing or some others.
Would maybe consider a Nintendo Switch, or nice Vinyl Setup.
Board Game wise I need Fomula De tracks 19-20 and 34-35. Also would trade for Heroscape painted Marvel Crisis Protocol figures, or maybe Memoir 44.
I will work with the buyer on getting these shipped in a manner that is as cheap as possible to them while getting the product to them safely.
I know I should get Dunwich but we are at an odd point right now. The Expansions are getting re-released via the new distribution system. I don't really like the idea of getting an old version (which is hard to get as a complete cycle). After the hype of several playthroughs through the base, game waiting isn't an option either. So would it be okay to get Edge of the earth? Or maybe the investigator decks plus some side stories? Please help.
Have a few questions though - is it a good time to get into the game? Will there likely be a new edition coming out since its quite old now?
Can you store expansions and base game cards all together or do you store them separately like Arkham lcg?
Forgot where, but I heard there's a good updated mechanic that makes the game better. Is that included with forsaken lore or a separate box? Im planning to purchase just the core & forsaken but I'd like to get the expansion with the better gameplay mechanic too.
Does anyone sleeve their sets? Worth it?
Thanks!
My boyfriend got the game for his birthday. We love complex games (Spirit Island and Twilight Struggle are some of our favorite), but this one seems over complicated and just too difficult to start playing if none of the players know the rules already. How should we start?
Edited: I refer to the card game, NOT the board game (I did not know they were two different things)
So I just tried out Arkham Horror 3rd edition for the first time and was confused on the monster phase. Do investigators perform wisdom/strength tests to prevent damage from engaged monsters or do you just automatically take all the damage listed??
I am in the process of moving from DC to Portland and looking to clear out some games. Buyer pays shipping from either 20001 or 97205. Prefer meeting I'm person either before I leave DC, when I get to Portland, or along the road trip (St Louis, Denver, Salt Lake City).

Hi all, with so many questions from players new or re-entering the game again asking about what to buy to get started, I decided to write a Beginner's Guide to Buying Arkham Horror.
It is my hope that the guide will help new players get into the game. No spoilers included AFAIK with detailed commentary on all the products available online (official and some non-official). I've noticed that online resources on this are scarce and lengthy, so I have included a TL;DR summary on the first page for people who just want to know what to buy, no questions asked. Parts of the document are strictly my opinion, as a disclaimer. I will be constantly updating this document as and when needed.
Veterans to the game, feel free to comment here and discuss how the guide can be improved. Newbies are also welcome to give feedback on whether this document helps you or not!
Note: I was initially planning to write another beginner's guide on what Investigators to choose and how to get better at the game, but my day jobs are killing me, so I will probably do it only with popular demand and if given the time. Let me know in the comments if this is something that is also welcome.
Edit: Updated on 30th January 2022 to add a very straightforward buy guide for total newbies.
$70
This is the main box Dunwich Legacy expansion and all 6 mythos packs. The actual (flimsy) main box was tossed but I have the plastic packs for all 6 mythos. Includes instructions for the main expansion and all mythos. There is one card that has a pink mark along the front; happy to share a picture. Other cards are very well taken care of, played twice.
This feels like a slightly silly question to ask given that this game is mostly cards, but I'll ask it anyway seeing as this is my first experience with this game.
How should I be organizing things in the included organizer? I plan on sleeving the cards, but do not plan on getting other card packs for the time being.
I assume the sleeved cards won't fill up the insert. Are there any tips on how to organize things? Pictures?
Thanks!
So I've played the game with my wife three times in the last week and we're really enjoying our time. I got the folded space insert to help with organization/setup (though I may have outgrown this already as I grabbed the expansions) and was wondering what other things you guys have gotten for the game that you really love.
Looking for the games listed in the title. Ideally I'd like to trade and save some money, but I am also happy to do partial trade/$$ if not too expensive. Trying to avoid shipping to West Coast just cuz the cost is so high. Thanks!
