A list of puns related to "Chaosium"
In particular the ones available in physical format.
I'm thinking of ordering "Beyond the Mountains of Madness" and was a bit intrigued if any of the other books available on sale are worth picking up or if there are any one should really just avoid since they are fairly cheap and there's a chance that they disappear in printed form.
An example what I mean would be Arkham now, which I've seen described as having not so much mythos and a bit too much meta in it for me.
And of course, if there are any stand outs in the PDF department I'd be happy to hear them as well.
Had a lot of fun doing the Storytelling Collective's Writer's Workshop! 'His Master's Voice' is now live - "There is a voice in the current!" Set in September 1925, this scenario takes place near Millers Falls, Massachusetts and the fictional community of Shadwell. A community of patients who have been transformed by an experimental electrical therapy and live in a mothballed cannery are trying to bring about the second coming in a soon to be electrically powered mechanical body. An escapee from the community sends the investigators a cryptic telegram compelling them to find her and avert tragedy on the day the community of Shadwell is to gain electrification. - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/378913/His-Masters-Voice
A few that Iβve come across: Yith Cycle, Hastur Cycle, Nyarlathotep Cycle, Ithaqua Cycle, Innsmouth Cycle, Antarktos Cycle, and probably many more
Hello all,
I'm a rather experienced CoC keeper but fairly new to RQ and I had a few questions regarding older Chaosium material being adapted into RQG.
Does RQ Classic translate well to RQG on a mechanics level? Eg. Is it as easy to adapt and run using RQG as old CoC material is with CoC7e?
Secondly, if my group gets a solid handle on RQG, how difficult would it be for us to run straight RQ Classic? Would it lower the learning curve? Are they monstrously different animals?
I hope this makes sense! Thanks for any and all responses! :)
I'll be at https://www.chaosium.com/chaosium-con-2022/ 4/8-9/2022!
Malleus Monstrorum: this slipcase set is just so awesome! Call of Cthulhu is my favorite RPG and I', always trying to get more people to play it.
I'm not afraid to make my own monsters or import ones from other editions, but I'm glad book 1, in this 2 book set not only gives us more monsters to use as keepers, but gives us clear cut rules on how to make our own.
I like book 2, the Deities book, because it helps me better implement my elder god into the game without overwhelming my players. Yeah, it's something I learned on my own, but there rules are nice even for a veteran and it'll be great for a newbie Keeper. I'm also giddy about how it helps you run the cults in your game, so the game feels more alive and not as generic (as I tend to make my cults).
I made a video here on YouTube with the intent of more people getting the books. I'm not paid by Chaosium, I just think these are great books to grab as a Keeper for your next Call of Cthulhu game.
What's your favorite part about the 2 book Malleus Monstrorum set? Did you think I did a decent elevator pitch of it in my video? Have a great October everyone!
Does anyone know if there's a place where one can check next releases and their dates, of CoC material by Chaosium?
[Edit: just as I clicked "post" I thought I should have put a question mark on that title. I'm afraid the current title might imply the thread contained information on new releases. I'm sorry for that.]
Hey, so i am a relatively new Keeper at COC and so far my games have been...disasters. More or less. We have been playing Corbitt house and Terror on the Thames and both games ended with either TPKs or the party, understandably, running for greener pastures.
Soo...do published adventures need to have their teeth pulled a little? Or is this just part of the design philosophy and we should find another game to play.
We've announced the inauguralΒ Chaosium Con will take place in Ann Arbor MI next April, and we hope youΒ save the date.Β Here are some answers to some initial questions about the event:
Why In Ann Arbor, and not X or Y?
We know the area, it is close to several of our team, and is near a major international airport (DTW) and several major highways. Sure, there are MANY other places we could host this event at, including many overseas locations, but we have to start somewhere.
What about future Cons in other places?
That's certainly possible. This first con is sort of a proof of concept. Based on the success of the event and what we learn from it, we may have similar cons at different times and places, including overseas*.
Why April, 2022?
It's a decent time of year weather-wise in Michigan and not during peak travel season, so hotel rooms are more available and flights aren't as expensive. It also isn't competing with too many other cons.
Will a lot of the Chaosium team be there?
Yes, many of us already have it on our calendars. We are still working on the Guest of Honor list, but it will certainly include a number of people you think of when you think of Chaosium.
What kind of events will the con feature?
The focus will be on all of Chaosium's games, past, present, and future! Lots of games, freeforms, and seminars. It's your chance to meet many of our authors, artists, and editors. Feel free to contact us with event suggestions, especially if you want to help run them.
Will Chaosium be selling products and merch there?
YES. Rick is saving up POW to create a Great Market, as well as a special Chaosium collectables auction hosted by Mason & Meints. More than that? Other vendors? We'll see.
Badge and Hotel Costs? Transportation?
How can I find out more?

*What happened to Chaosium Con Down Under?
We intended to holdΒ Chaosium Con Down Under in Sydney, Australia in May 2020 but unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That event was going to be our first 'proof of concept' for a Chaosium convention, but
... keep reading on reddit β‘I was wondering if anybody know if there were any news about physical release of Alone against the Tide and Does love forgive ? I did not come across on any info about this, anybody else knows ?

In my last post, I stated that I had a vague idea for a Call of Cthulhu one-shot that I would probably write after my sequel campaign to Blackwater Creek was finished, and last week, we finished that one (which ended epically and tragically and may lend itself to another sequel scenario with new investigators).
I took what I learned from writing that scenario and applied it to the new one, called "The Observatory," made it tighter and more bizzare. Looked at Delta Green's: Observer Effect for any overlap or ideas that I might be able to toy with to create something that was unique (which, you guys were right, it's an awesome scenario), but besides the time loop mechanics, I wanted my one-shot to be more cerebral and dreamlike. Basically, I pitched it to Mike and Co that this scenario was like exploring an M.C. Escher painting from hell, where the clock ticks at its own whims and where even the investigator's memories aren't safe.
And he got back to me and said it would take about a month to give me an answer!
So, wish me well on that front. I don't know if I can share that document with everyone here since it's in submissions now.
But I am editing a new version of the Mother's Gifts scenario, the second draft of which I'm going to share here soon for you all to try if you'd like (since I don't feel comfortable submitting that one, as it's a sequel to someone else's very popular work).
