A list of puns related to "Anglo America"
Several users have asked me to set up a Discord for this timeline. While I do use Discord, I'm really unsure about whether it's worth setting one up - especially as it's often quite a time sink. I'd like to know how big the interest really is before going down that rabbit hole.
Also: I honestly don't think I have the time to administer a discord in addition to this sub. If this idea gains traction I need a helping hand with that and would probably approach a few of the more active and (hopefully) reasonable users of this sub ;-)
Fucking who gives a shit. Tequila at 122 pm. I'm offended that Nick has not mentioned these and done accompanying impersonations. Put. Me. On. The. Fucking. Show. Or you're still gay. Bet. (For Adam)
Since a clear majority of two thirds was in favour of setting up a discord for this timeline, I went ahead and did just that. It's a bit barebones right now, but might grow over time. Please feel free to use this invitation to join:
Please feel free to ping me on reddit if it's not working or if you're having trouble joining, as I've never set up a discord before in my life.
Probably a stupid question but I'd like to if they're more powerful or less Powerful as the United States irl.
Following the success of the recent poll on how to develop Northern Brazil in the Anglo-Dutch America timeline, I decided to put another question to you. I'm completely undecided on how Japan should end its isolationism, as this was historically achieved by the USA and the Perry Expedition. Obviously, there's no USA in this timeline, so this begs the question how Japan opens up.
The three basic ideas I could come up with are:
u/Free-Horse-8311 proposed an interesting idea, to turn (part of) Brazil into a multi-lunguistic country similar to the CAS. I spent some time reading up on the Dutch-Portuguese War and believe that it could be possible for the Dutch to hold on to the northern parts of Brazil due to a combination of luck (winning the first and/or second battles of Guarapes), John Maurice of Nassau being allowed to stay in Brazil longer and the discovery of gold in southern Brazil happening at bit more early, switching the Portuguese focus to that area.
All that being said: what should happen to (Northern) Brazil in the Anglo-Dutch America timeline?
I love the Anglo-Dutch America timeline and am considering making something like it for my ongoing Eu4 centralized Holy Roman Empire colonizer run.
How do you make maps like these? https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/mhraf0/north_america_in_1900_anglodutch_america_timeline/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Any software or any templates which you can provide?
There is something strange that I have noticed about Germany in the world of Anglo-Dutch America
It is very strange that the United Kingdom and the United States would agree to divide the German Empire with the Soviets, especially since they might see it as a useful ally in the anti-Soviet Cold War.
Or they could, at worst, make a government like Japan (the Kaiser's survival with a neutral government like Switzerland and Austria and a democratic constitution like Japan after the war)
So I find it strange that Germany was treated like the Nazis, but less cruel
I've heard some people mention that East Asian men and Southeast Asian men have a better image in the Eastern Europe and Latin America compared to Anglo countries and Western European countries. Considering how most Eastern Europe countries(Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Greece, etc) and some countries in Latin America (Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, etc) are predominantly white and even less racially diverse than those in Anglo countries and Western European countries, why would they be somehow more accepting and tolerant of East Asian men and Southeast Asian men? Wouldn't the white beauty standard prevail there as well? Hopefully it's not just wishful thinking among some people
Plus, I heard anti-Asian sentiment is becoming more prevalent in Eastern European countries and Latin American countries as well due to the increasing popularity of American media in these regions. In addition, I encountered Asian men of various nationalities(Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino) complain they experienced lot of racism and hostility when they traveled in Eastern Europe and Latin America because they were mistaken as Chinese and they were invisible to Eastern European girls and Latin American girls though the Asian guys were reasonably attractive.
If this is any indication, it seems like the perception of East Asian men and Southeast Asian men isn't much different outside the Anglo countries and Western European countries. So what is the reason for this supposed better image of Asian men, if any?
It is so stupid...
Everyone knew Rome is a world power during Roman times. Why nowadays no-one is using "Anglo-America" as world power and only narration is "US did this..." ; "UK did this...". If the rock shall hit the stone, shouldn't vast majority of human population know what is it hitting at the moment?
It is a joke. Also looked at wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-America.... The term has nothing to do with jws sick world view.
Title. There's no doubt a lot of accounts that completely mess up our timelines of history in our heads.
I'm not talking about "Egyptians are old" type of posts I sometimes see, I mean "gunpowder was invented before composite bows" (I have no idea, that's why I'm here) or something like that.
Edit: "What other some others" lmao okay me
Edit2: I completely know and understand that there were people in America before the Vikings came over to have a poke around. I'm in no way saying "The first people to be in America were European" I'm saying "When the Europeans discovered America" as in the first time Europeans set foot on America.
