Why is FAIRMormon so obsessed with the ancient Egyptian sacrifice in the BoA?
I'm not a scholar when it comes to the Book of Abraham but I have read quite a bit and also watched the entire Mormon Stories Podcast with Dr. Robert Ritner.
So why is this one small detail about human sacrifice such a big deal for apologists to defend? Proving human sacrifice proves nothing else besides pure luck. The evidence against EVERYTHING else about the BoA is so overwhelming that human sacrifice is like trying to put out a forest fire with a glass of water. Even if there's a small chance that some obscure part of that world did human sacrifice in my mind it is extremely lucky that Joseph Smith included it and just happened to be right in the most obscure sense of the word.
Being lucky doesn't mean Joseph Smith was right so why does it seem like they've chosen this hill to die on?
Did the ancient Egyptians ever sacrifice animals during religious ceremonies?
