A list of puns related to "Acceptability"
(apparently /r/ShowerThoughts doesn't accept puns)
Currently using the word 'acceptable' to describe an automated process that ingests data.
Acceptable has many negative connotations- and what is 'acceptable' to us from a process standpoint is not what should be acceptable to the people giving us the data.
A word or phrase mixing 'correctness' and 'fit' (how well data matches our format)... but again without the implication that their data is 'wrong' and 'bad'.
Politics. Sigh.
Thank you!
Please let me know if this should go in a different sub:
Is there a range for projects that are generally accepted by PDs for research/poster/presentations? I have not completed any since starting med school but worked on several going as far back as undergrad (15 years ago). I am hoping to push a couple research projects this next year as well as writing case reports during rotations, but not sure if I can include any earlier work. Any suggestions?
So I was talking to my therapist last week about my whole history of body weight. I realized that even when I so thin that I could see my ribcage, I still had people telling me I had a huge butt. Proportionally though I did. That's just where the fat on my body mostly sits, similar to women with huge chests and very little body fat elsewhere. Society tells people like me that we either look gross or like a caricature sex doll. That's a huge source of my ED.
So people such as family, friends, doctors, sidewalk doctors, etc. have always looked at me and told me I needed to lose weight. But there's nothing I can do to change my proportions. No matter what weight I am, it's never enough.
Sooooooooo technically if I can never achieve society's expectations then I shouldn't even bother. I can just focus on other things in life. I realized this is probably the backdoor of body acceptance (pun intended), but I think it's going to work for me π€·
Do y'all have a similar experience or loophole?
We have friends that have a 4 year old named Herman (thatβs not the name but similar idea). They arenβt close friends, they live near us and are related to good friends who live in another city. But we like them and have a 4 year old too and so we hang out and see each other at least a few times a year. We are thinking about naming our kid Herman. It is the name of a beloved family member on one side of the family and one of the few names weβve both liked. But it feels pretty awkward because itβs not that common a name and we obviously know they named their kid Herman (and Iβm pretty sure Iβve told them before how much I liked the name). Weβre not copying them for no reason or just because itβs a nice name; it has meaning. But not sure if that matters. My question is, would it be socially acceptable to name our kid Herman?
Is there an etiquette for this type of thing or a consensus thatβs been developed in this sub? Iβm positive they would say they were okay with it if we asked but maybe just out of niceness.
I have seen posts like this before but they werenβt easy to search for so I thought Iβd ask and give my specific situation while Iβm at it.
A. I just found the solution to how to transplant the lung into the patient possible.
B. I just found the solution possible to how to transplant the lung into the patient.
Maybe are both A and B acceptablely correct English?
I'm not quite sure especially whether the sentence structure of B works.
I think that B flows better because since "to how~" is too long, it seems better to put "possible" in front of "to how~", rather than after "to how~".
the solution + "to how"+ possible vs the solution + possible + "to how"
I was mostly out of work in 2020 and I'm pretty sure that I watched every Bitesize video now. Im deep into the Cobraverse and it's broken my brain. I used to look at people and compare them to my prior standards of social acceptability and judge them if they drank too much, or ate food not prepared as well as I thought it could have been, dressed poorly ect
Now that Josh has become my new standard of judgement pretty much everyone I see is acceptable;
the majority of homeless people in my city are much more put together than Josh
the semi-alcholics I know have full time jobs and wives so much better off than Josh
-my roomates "cooking" which used to gross me out is Gordon Ramsy level compared to the Bacon cheeseburgers I've seen
There are countless more examples I can come up with but I guess I'm wondering should I be thankful I am now technically a more forgiving person or angry that my standards have been moved so low? Has anyone else have this happen to them?
Praise Cobras Magic obviously
It was the age of wisdom.
"And that's where Dick ends," I say somewhat sadly. I am the narrator, but also part of the conversation.
"I thought that was the beginning?" she said hopefully.
"No, that's it."
"But I had such Great Expectations!"
We laugh uneasily - it is an acceptable pun, but neither of us have another in mind. We have no way to end the joke. Something with A Christmas Carol? We stare into the stale silence. Nothing. We finish our drinks and leave.
The bartender cackles triumphantly. "Olive, or Twist?" But the bar is empty. It is the age of foolishness.
With me so far?
Okay so on that note: Snapchat filters.
The summer before last, the not-Covid summer? Lots and lots of Snapchat filters with different styles of masks.. Iβd say the first βproofβ (saved photo) of me with the mask filter was from a dentist appointment early summer 2018.
Thoughts?
I am conducting research into a potential new form of treatment for depression known as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). tDCS is a non-invasive brain stimulation method that has been shown to help to improve depressive symptoms in individuals suffering from depression. This research is looking into what are individualsβ views about the potential treatment.
You will be asked some general questions regarding demographic information such as your age, gender, and ethnicity. Please be aware this is an anonymous study and you will not be required to give any personal details such as your name or contact details. I will not be able to differentiate individuals from the data. Prior to the study, you will be required to read a small information sheet regarding tDCS, following this information you will be required to answer questions. The experiment should take no longer than 10 minutes approximately. I only need 6 more participants.

I am in the process of trying to install the Construction Set and have that working, but only the vanilla version. The patch for the Construction Set can't find files, and a lot of stuff is just not working with libraries and what-not. Anyways, I don't want to do that. It's just a simple house/NPC meme mod. If I make it using just the basic vanilla construction and Oblivion.esm set will it still work with all of your script extenders and fancy whatevers? I haven't touched the CS in at least 10 years until I had the idea for this mod.
Comparative efficacy and acceptability of 21 antidepressant drugs for the acute treatment of adults with major depressive disorder: a systematic review and network meta-analysis
This is an very informative study from a medical journal The Lancet. The best part is this table in which they have a comparation of 21 drugs with respect to their effectiveness and tolerability:

For example Amitryptiline is on top of the list for effectiveness and Reboxetine is at the bottom. On the other hand Agomelatine is at the top of the list for acceptability (least side effects) and Clomipramine at the bottom.
Iβm a masterβs degree student and Iβm currently gathering data on what peopleβs perceptions are on carbon cap and trade systems. The survey is very short and I thank in advance anyone who fills it!
