A list of puns related to "Aaliyah discography"
EDIT : "No Days Go By" has been included in the "One in a Million" section, thanks to u/mjfan147.
EDIT 2 : Thanks to u/MadSpecialised, the entire "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack has been added. "Messed Up" has been shifted into the "Miscellaneous" section.

Re-upload of (most of) Aaliyah's tracks released from 1995 up to 2002, with the release of her only posthumous album to date, "I Care 4 U" (for this one, not every single track on it was ripped, as some of them reappear on the previous studio albums). Also, various tracks (taken from a selection of late-90's soundtracks) are now added and saved in the "Miscellaneous" section.
All the listed songs are missing from streaming services, and were never properly re-issued either on CD, cassette or vinyl during the last decade.

The youngest child out of ten in the legendary Jackson family.
At the age of seven Janet was already performing at the MGM Casino in Las Vegas and acting in the The Jacksons variety show.
At the age of eleven she got a starring role on the sitcom Good Times (1977 - 1979), along with roles in A New Kind of Family and Diff'rent Strokes (1980 - 1984). Her last television acting role would be on the show Fame (1984 - 1985).
Janet Jackson & Dream Street (1982 & 1984)
After doing a TV Show "[she] absolutely hated doing" at the age of 16 Janet Jackson was forced by her father to start a music career. She released a self titled album 'Janet Jackson' where she had no creative control over. The album peaked at #63 and had one single 'Young Love' peak at #64 on the Hot 100. Critics at the time were underwhelmed by the release and felt it had 'no distinctive musical personality'.
Fast forward two years to 1984 and Janet wanted to go to college but her father Joseph does not allow it and makes her continue to work on music. So she releases a follow up album with her father still in complete control titled ***'Dream Street'***. The album peaked at #147 on the Billboard 200 and was the only album by Janet to have no songs land on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite her father Joseph believing this would be a commercial success. In an act of rebellion Janet later married her boyfriend at the time James DeBarge.
With back to back flops Janet had to do some major changes if she was to find success as an artist. So in 1985 she left her husband & got an annulment of their marriage, completely severed all of her business affairs from her father Joseph and hired John McClain as her new manager who would be the one to introduce her to legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
Control (1987)
The album made Billboard Hot 100 history, breaking brother Michael's record for longest continuous run on the Hot 100 with singles from one album, a record 65 consecutive weeks.
Sold over 10,000,000 copies Worldwide and peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 list.
Nominated at The Grammy's for the Album of the Year, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for Control and Best R&B Song for What Have You Done For Me Lately.
Nominated for 4 MTV Video Music Awards in 1987 for Best Female Video, Best Overall Performance in a Video and two nominatio
The last time we saw Janet she just released her magnum opus The Velvet Rope, which was a deeply personal album that tackled a lot of serious topics that you can read about HERE . Following the album she had an incredibly successful and highly influential world tour and even had an HBO special for the concert that broke viewership records. Unfortunately after such a taxing and emotionally tumultuous time in Janet's life she did not get a break because her secret marriage was falling apart. In 2000 her long time music and video collaborator Rene Elizondo filed for divorce revealing that they secretly married in 1991 and he was suing Janet for $25 million dollars in spousal support despite there being a prenuptial agreement (Janet ended up settling out of court in 2003 with Rene and it is rumored she paid him $10 million dollars). Along with such a radical shift in her personal life came a radical shift in the pop music landscape since her last album in 1997.
Now entering the new millennium came a new crop of pop stars who defined the standard of popular music. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and many others, as critics referred to them as "pneumatic mini-Janets", were dominating music. So there was intense pressure on Janet on how she was going to reclaim her dance pop throne and what she was going to do musically with such a public divorce but having already done such a heavy album with The Velvet Rope. What ultimately came about was an album centered and themed around Janet's divorce and newly found single life figuring out what it is like to go dating.
Janet spoke about the concept of All For You and said,
> I call my latest release All for You. The You is my fans who've stayed with me and watched me grow; the You is the mysterious force of love that's the source of creativity; and the You is also me. All for You is a suite of songs that helped me move from one emotional level to another. I'm the kind of artist who has no choice but to write what I feel.
> Velvet Rope took me inside my fears and frustrations. All for You has brought me outside, happy on a natural high, convinced that I really can express joy in the face of pain. My moods are changing. If you listen to the CD, you'll hear what I'm going through. There's anger, hur

Hey everyone, happy new year and welcome to Popheadβs AOTY writeup series! This is my second year doing a writeup and Iβm honored to be discussing one of the biggest releases of the hellscape that was 2020 with yβall!
Intro
This is normally where I would write an introduction to the topic of this writeup, but by the time this will be posted weβll be in 2021 where Ariana Grande needs no introduction. To say the past few years have been a whirlwind for our ponytailed popstar would be an understatement. 2018βs sweetener saw her deal with the fallout of the devastating attack on her Manchester concert and celebrate finding a new love with SNL star Pete Davidson (and we all know how that turned out). Just months after sweetenerβs release, Ariana dropped the explosive single βthank u, nextβ followed by an album of the same name. Thank u, next felt heavy with emotions, most notably grief, as it painted a picture of what her life looked like after the dissolution of her engagement to Pete and the tragic loss of ex Mac Miller. Ariana made it no secret that she was facing a lot of pain and was struggling with mental health issues- fans noticed she regularly cried on stage during her sweetener world tour dates, tweeted sentiments like βcan i pls just have one okay day. just one. pls.β, and even posted a scan on her brain on Instagram stories showing the many parts of her brain that had been affected by PTSD. Arianaβs image took a sharp turn from as sugary-sweet as they come to intertwined with trauma, failed relationships, and pain.
After her hugely successful, 101-date Sweetener World Tour, things quieted down a bit for Ariana. But in January of 2020, it was reported that sheβd been seen kissing a mystery man at a bar in LA. This mystery man was later revealed to be Dalton Gomez, a low-profile real estate agent that Ari would quietly date and live with during the COVID-19 pandemic. Arianaβs online presence also drastically changed during this time- the melancholy tweets had subsided and she became muss less interactive with fans directly onli

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
Illmatic is half of Nas' demo tape and half newly recorded material:
demo tape https://www.okayplayer.com/news/nas-pre-illmatic-demo-mp3-album-stream.html
Just Another Day In The Projects and I'm A Villain went into NY State of Mind; Nas will Prevail went into It Ain't Hard to Tell
Nas lost his rhyme book when he got to the studio to record and he was just freestyling with AZ during that session, which birthed Life's a Bitch based off the strength of AZ's verse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8520n-PyLPA
Nas remembered a lot of his previous rhymes and rehashed his old rhymes with newly written ones for Illmatic. Nas ended up getting his rhyme book back after Illmatic dropped (because he wrote his address in it) and Nas noticed that his newly rehashed rhymes were better/more potent than what was in the book, so it was actually a "silver lining moment", which gave him the 5 mics
It was written is half Illmatic style and half commercial
the album cuts had illmatic-style rhymes but with updated beats and production
Nas saw that a lot of people were trying to copy his style off Illmatic including AZ, etc
Nas was in competition with Biggie to go platinum because Biggie took home all the rewards in 1994, and that's why tried the commercial route yet sampled whodini and had lauryn hill, who was not pop at the time
The Firm and Qb's Finest compilation projects were half Nas and half who he was introducing
The Firm album only had 4 tracks with Nas rapping on it because he was trying to put everyone else on -- a lot of Firm stuff wound up on mixtapes and didn't make the album
QB's finest had 8 tracks with Nas rapping on it while putting everyone else on
I Am was half leaked material and half newly recorded material
half of Nas' double album leaked and Nas had a month and a half to record new shit http://www.mtv.com/news/511979/nas-tracks-leaked-on-net/ before his album dropped
Small World, Money Is My Bitch, Dr. Knockboots, and We Will Survive made the album from the leaks
STOP reposting that concept I Am double album tracklist saying it's the OG tracklist...the OG tracklist for I Am's double album had limited features: Nas recorded his tracks featuring DMX, Aaliyah, Scarface, and Diddy after the leak. I've also heard that the joints with premier were also not on the OG double album tracklist, which means the OG tracklist didn't have 'life is what you make it', 'you wont see me tonight', 'favor for a favor', 'ha

Music Style: Alternative R&B influenced by Dance, Electronic, Downtempo, Hip-Hop, and 90's R&B.
I remember coming across Rochelle Jordan sometime last year. I saw her album 1021 on rateyourmusic and it had great reviews. I put it in the back of my head to listen later. When I came around to listening to it, I regretted not listening to it sooner. Her music was the perfect blend of R&B that channeled that 90's while still having her own modern touch to it. Rochelle is the closest we have to a modern-day Aaliyah on a vocal scale. However, we will get to more of that later.
Rochelle Jordan is in her own lane in the Toronto R&B scene. Toronto R&B has been synonymous with the somber deep bass 808's sound with reverbed vocals. Some good examples of this is Come And See Me (PARTYNEXTDOOR's PARTYNEXTDOOR3 (P3)), With Me (Dvsn's SEPT 5th), Crew Love (Drake's Take Care), Meant 2 Me (Kenney Rd.'s Summer Drive Pt2), Love Bomb (THEHONESTGUY's Love Songs For No One), Rain or Shine (Kibra's And It Was Good), and Love & War (RAAHiiM's Fear of the Unknown). While Rochelle's Music has these elements, her music also has a futuristic electronic aspect to them. This puts Rochelle in the same group as Gaelle, Kelela, Roses Gabor, FKA Twigs, Dawn Richard, etc. Rochelle's music incorporates sounds like Drum n Bass (Killah, Love You Good), House (Next 2 You, All Over Again, Ease Your Mind, Oblivious), 2-Step (Something, Broken Steel), Footwork ([There You G
