A list of puns related to "Yupik Language"
So I've started to work on my typological sketch of a language but I'm struggling to find good sources. By that I mean I have found a lot of publications through my college database, but it's usually only reviews and short abstracts. Examples: A practical grammar of the central Alaskan Yup'ik Eskimo language A Grammatical Sketch of Siberian Yupik Eskimo
Does anyone know how to access those OR does anyone know of different publications on the topic of Yupik languages (Central, Siberian,... don't care, as long as I have something to write from) that are accessible online?
This is another long-shot. I spent some time in the Alaskan bush among the Yupik people, and I'm trying to write an anthropological account of some of the things I learned about their culture. In their language, they have a word that essentially translates to "a haunting experience", such as seeing a ghost or encountering the supernatural in an abandoned building.
I'd love to use that word in the essay, but I can't for the life of me recall it or easily find it online. Any chance someone has the knowledge to help?

Iโm referring to groups like Iroquoian, Muskogean, Siouan, Algonquian, Caddoan, Numic, and so on. Iโve encountered Oceti Sakowin and Haudenosaunee people talking about their dislike of the words โSiouxโ and โIroquoisโ, respectively, so Iโd imagine some of that probably carries over to the language families. And I can also see how Pawnee, Wichita, or Arikara people might get annoyed at their language being called โCaddoanโ when they donโt belong the Caddo Nation.
In addition to terms you dislike, are there any alternatives youโd prefer non-Natives use when describing these linguistic or cultural groupings? I know some peoples in the Arctic have pushed for Inuit-Yupik-Unangan to replace the language family with a slur in its more popular name, but Iโm not aware of other proposals if they exist.
When did the Inuit Aleut migrate into North America. For the longest time, I thought that all people indigenous to the Americas came over a migration some tens of thousands of years ago and later were isolated. I recently learned about the Yupik people, a people group indigenous to Siberia related to the Aleut (linguistically and genetically). This was pretty shocking to me, as I didn't know that there were migrations back out of the Americas so recently that linguistic similarities could be found. One more interesting thing is that certain Tungstic languages have Yupik loanwords. Could anybody explain to me the history of the Inuit and the Aleut and the general consensus in the scientific community?

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

I'm Scottish and like Native American culture: Mohawk Oneida, Lenape, Sioux, Navajo, Blackfoot, Chippewa, Cree, Mi'kmaq, Creek, Cherokee, Saikuz, Tlingit, Haida, Chinook, Yupik, Lenca, Aztec, Selk'nam, Quecha, Incan, Arapaho, Chumash Santa Ynez, Comanche, Yucatec Maya, Amazonians etc. I like them all, very interesting people. I want to know more about Native languages, I know how to say hello in Mohawk (kwekwe) but that's it. How do you say hello in your language? Also what is your people and culture? I'd like to know more about different people. Hello in Scots Gaelic is Halรฒ.
