Is this a flea? Found in dog’s water bowl. All animals in house are on flea treatment. No blood when we smushed it. Was alive in bowl but not jumping. We poured dawn on it before smushing it.
Water Fleas (Daphnia) in Primary Clarifier
Has anyone else ever seen this? There were a bunch of water fleas swarming in our primary clarifier this afternoon. They seemed to be really attracted to grease. I've attached a video of them in the primary around some grease. There were much more around the clarifier, clouds of them. We also grabbed some and put it in a beaker. I attached a video of that, too. I took a couple pictures of them under the microscope. I had to change to a 4x objective lens to get a picture zoomed out enough. I know they're used for WET testing. I don't know what to think of it. I guess our primary must not have much toxicity. I also observed more cyclops copepods in the mixed liquor today.

So after our little shrimp town got killed by toxic flea treatment (warning to owners) we have one survivor of around 60 shrimp. It highlighted we didn’t know as much as we thought about keeping shrimp, Any helpful tips. Must have products, also what water conditioner do you use, ours has run out.

I’ve never cleaned a skull before. I harvested a quite fresh squirrel head yesterday but it has fleas on it. I plan to skin it first. Can I blanch it in order to kill them? I don’t want to get fleas myself, you see. I also don’t want to damage it and read that small bones can warp in boiling water.
