Did Pizarro had to kill him when arresting Balboa? I heard he had a collar of gold.
Many places in SF are named after people whose actions we might disapprove of today - how does the left pick its targets? It seems like there are much worse people being commemorated than Justin Herman, or George Washington, whose name was proposed to be removed from Wash H.S.
I recently read a book about Panama that painted Balboa as a remarkable figure, not only because of his frequent brushes with death and exploration accomplishments, but also because he was uniquely fair towards the indigenous people that he encountered. The author seemed to go out of his way to make the point that Balboa was a strong contrast to his harsher contemporaries, such as Francisco Pizarro. I'm not sure what to make of this judgement, mainly because I'm ignorant on the subject, but I'm also suspicious of 'glorifying' (for lack of a better word) historical figures. What does r/askhistorians have to say about Balboa? Regardless, the guy lived a ridiculously dangerous and fascinating life.

Só isso mesmo, surgiu essa dúvida e eu não sei a resposta.
Faz um tempo que venho pensando nisso. zoar rival em má fase até que é legal, mas a rivalidade perde um pouco da magia quando fica desproporsional. O fluminense tbm anda moribundo. Aí o pessoal vem querer forçar a coisa com o Palmeiras, que tem ainda os rivais tradicionais um pouco mais perigosos e sequer corresponte o flerte flamenguista.
Eu falo daquela apreesão que a gente sente, ou costumava sentir, em dia de clássico: Saber se iria chegagar no dia seguinte triunfante ou derrotano no trabalho ou na escola. Não existe mais, o flamengo e o Vasco ,como era previsto, se ferrou.
Enfim, deve ser o período entre temporadas me fazendo pensar besteira.
