A list of puns related to "Unstuck"
Hello, Portland! With more snow in the forecast, I want to share some insight with you after what happened last February. I was amazed with how many people were out on the roads who had never driven in snow and had literally no idea what to do differently, so I'm gonna give you the whole rundown. First, I want to correct a couple commonly stated tips.
"4 wheel drive doesn't mean 4 wheel stop."
I hear this all the time. It's true, but that's because all cars are already all 4 wheel stop. 4 wheel drive actually can help you stop better, but the actual problem is that you're hitting the brakes too hard! Your brakes are much stronger than your engine, and you see how even a little tap of the gas can break traction in the snow. A little tap of the brakes is too much as well. You need only the slightest amount of brake, and as soon as your tires lock up, you need to let off and then ease on them again.
"Start in second gear for better traction."
This doesn't really help. It's not worth it in a manual, and most automatics won't do it anyway. You do want to limit your gears, but not to help with takeoff. This actually goes back to braking. Depending on the vehicle, you will probably want to limit it to second gear. Most cars even with automatics can do this. Unfortunately I don't think a lot of hybrids have a way to do this since they don't have a transmission, but if you can keep your car in a lower gear, it will slow down a lot just by letting off the gas which will help you keep control.
Obviously braking is a big deal when it comes to snow driving. The takeaway is that you need to take a lot longer to slow down and only press the pedal the tiniest amount. It's a lot more obvious how little traction your tires have when you're trying to accelerate, and you have to remember that it is the same when braking. Most people drive with ABS, and if that activates, that's good, but you can still fully lock up your tires in which case you'll need to let off and try again. In case you didn't know, ABS is loud and vibrates the whole car.
The most obvious thing should be that you need to do everything slower. You'll accelerate slower naturally, but you need to give yourself enough time and space to give your brake and steering input slower. A big tip for this is to only do one of those at a time. Slow down before turns and maintain speed through the turns. Don't touch your brake while turning. It's actually best to be slightly on the gas to maintain speed.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβm a slow reader, I donβt sit still very well and get distracted easily so I can only read in short spurts. That being said, I love to read and I am okay with taking several months to finish a book, but sometimes Iβll get stuck (even if Iβm loving the book) and Iβll be thinking about other books I want to read but I have to finish this other long one firstβ¦
I have never considered reading more than one book at once, thinking I wouldnβt be able to keep track or keep up, but now Iβm not sure. How do you deal with this?
completely hypothetical time sensitive question, thanks!
edit: While the ambulance was indeed stuck, we called supe pretty quickly and got a tow. All these responses were very informative and entertaining while we waited in a ditch! Perhaps this can help someone else in the future!
I am the primary founder and dev side of a b2b SaaS. Been at this something like 5 years at this point?
My first 3 years growth was good, was able to keep growing. Had some slow times, but overall steady growth.
My last 12 months has been 100% flat. Work all day at this for my SaaS, but my new clients equal my quitting clients. So end up totally flat. Pretty much working for nothing.
I have reached a level that many posted here would call a success (a bit past 1M ARR). But, after staff and expenses, I am not doing particularly better than I could at a dayjob working for facebook or something.
I am too small and growing too slow to sell for a level I want. But I can't seem to figure out what knob to turn to make growth finally happen. What the heck do I do here?
Random things I have tried:
Moving into a related product, that many of my clients use and would let me increase the price. Turned out to be way too much for our development power, and it was crap, so we burned this.
Going through a marketing employee / different marketing agencies. Marketing agencies are real good at spending money. But I go 6 months with no marketing agency, vs 6 months of spending 20-30k a month with an agency.. growth is no different.
Raising prices to move to bigger clients. Have done this several times, and have a new price lined up for for Jan1. Unsure if pulling the trigger will help anything.
Various partnerships and working with other products in my space. On the whole, this just wastes my time and doesn't seem to actually make me any money.
Changing my product. Hired and fired product managers who gave me no useful insight into what to change about my actual product. Have a survey from every user that has quit my platform. Still no closer to knowing exactly what to change in my product.
Just need to do something. Figure out how to grow. Let me employees run the biz and go found another startup. Something. Seems like I am totally stuck and spinning my wheels here.. what do I do?
I've always identified as an organized person (but not a neat person) and since moving into a bigger home about 5 years ago I left the "one thing in, one thing out" mentality and yearly purge behind me, as I have a lot more space than my condo.
My house now has *a lot* of clutter. Some of it's junk, some of it isn't. I am in desperate need of getting my space in order for my mental health but I every time I start, each area/section I tackle takes hours, leaving me with lots of things that I'm not sure have a place (or where it is). Feeling like I'm not completing anything is discouraging and makes me avoid wanting to continue.
Does anyone have any tips or resources to share? I've got 4 days before I go back to work and would love to feel a sense of accomplishment and calm. I've made a lot of progress in the last couple of months facing addiction and depression head-on, and I know cutting the 'junk' out of various areas of my life will be another great step in the right direction.
Some specific areas I'm struggling with:
(Note, I posted this in the minimalism sub as well)
Often I've found that a good Kdrama that fits the issues/themes of something you're going through helps a LOT. Watching Something in the Rain and Chocolate rn and they reallllly make you grapple with how ridiculous getting stuck, overthinking, not changing things or getting away from people who are toxic >!(ahem. the mother, the grandma/family).!<
But it's also kinda depressing after a binge. Can anyone recommend some good Kdramas that you feel, but involve people taking that leap of faith? Like in many good stories they have plenty of things holding them back but they go for it anyways, are passionate and compassionate, etc? Basically the opposite of being whiny.
Not Itaewon class or It's Okay Not to Be Okay I've seen them too many times. But series that make you really feel uplifted, like you can do things.
As well as more like Something in the Rain and Chocolate which are mindblowingly frustrating but, unfortunately often extremely realistic.
My Binge list for winter break so far is:
Chocolate
Persona
Move to Heaven
My Mister
Navillera
Lost
Something in the Rain
So you know how in Chocolate>! where they're pushed together constantly but avoid those chances? Basically something that feels real where people take those chances they're given and make!< more for themselves and are super ambitious, see the best in the world but not insane.
Also, how do I get Korean subtitles on Netflix more often?
Basically last semester I was too hesitant, stayed places and with people when I knew it was bad for me because I was scared to step out, stayed inside for weeks due to crippling anxiety/overthinking and the feeling that everything would go wrong out there. Which, you know. 2020-2021, local crime rates, finding out I have a nifty disease that they think could suddenly go very bad very fast but they don't have a treatment for because they'll have to research it- on me-or do major surgery and meds that would make Covid a pretty done deal, losing people to Covid, almost being kidnapped. so.
Not incredibly far from possibility, but some of these dramas have been a great reminder that you can miss out on great things if you don't take a leap of faith. I haven't worked my butt off to survive all of these medical crises just to sit inside and be anxious. So, I want something that really makes you feel the leap of faith and all the good that happens when you take it and have hope.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I found mid/large cap stocks to day trade. Had a plan last night to short Rivian and I didn't because I keep going for the home run.
I wanted to go long on a particular $12 stock but realized it was better to short ,however, I did neither after watching the stock tank.
Stock had over 69 million volume and kept decreasing from $17 to $11.50 or so.
So...not sticking to my plan, I missed out on decent plays.
Since I didn't stick to my plan, I didn't trade today. Didn't wanna lose. Taking a step to regroup for Monday.
Lesson: It's better not to trade than to lose. Stick to less volatile stocks until you increase bankroll..FOMO will cause you more money than not trading for the day.
Stick to your game plan.
Have you been stuck? What do you do when stuck?
Trying to compose a list of stuff to have in case it happens, I donβt have snow tires but I do have fairly new all season tires from last January (cheapo ones) and Iβm driving a lot more than usual this year, co-parenting in Minnetonka, work in Lakeville while home is in Shakopee.
Anyone happen to have a list of caves that unstuck works? Have found it to be easiest to build next to dropship, mine caves and do unstuck option.
I have started one, but wasn't sure if there is one out there.
I don't mean frozen as in seized, I mean frozen as in iced up to the point of immobility. If I have someone bring me a little butane torch can I used in in the holes of steel wheels? I really just don't know what to do here.
Hey guys, my friends and I have been playing Outer Wilds, trading information and so on. We're both stuck now, and nothing we can do seems to progress us. What is the best way to go forward?
Here's our guide, a few places are incomplete but that's cause only one of us explored them
Preferably without having to open it up
