A list of puns related to "Unrounded"
The Japanese /u/ got unrounded and now its fronted closer to an [ ษจ ]
So I was given my final grades for most of my courses (minus philosophy, but that final exam was essay style and I bet its taking forever to mark) and was calculating my current GPA. I got a 90 in one of my courses, but when I calculated it myself it was like an 89.87 or something that rounded up to a 90 in the grade book on OWL. Does that change my GPA for that course? Ex. I get a 3.9 instead of a 4.0 for that course, since an 89.87 is technically under a 90?
This isn't for anything professional and doesn't particularly matter for anything serious, I was just curious. Thanks!
I keep noticing Greeks who seem to "harden" the way they pronounce 'ฮผฮน' relative to what seems to be "standard" (unmarked) pronunciation.
In other words, a word like ฮฝฮฟฮผฮฏฮถฯ is typically pronounced like /noหmi.zo/. And the tendency I observe is for people (who exhibit this feature) to pronounce it as /noหmษจ.zo/, with the /i/ vowel pulled back to the position of a "close/high central unrounded vowel" /ษจ/.
Is this some kind of localized feature or accent (i.e. of Athenian speakers)? Or is it a trend among young people? I seem to hear it most frequently from younger people and, especially, Greek rappers.
Here's a clear example of it from a singer/rapper named Semeli (at the 1:28 mark of a Live Session), where she says, "ฮฮฑ ฮพฮตฮบฮนฮฝฮฎฯฯ ฮผฮต ฮบฮฌฯฮน ฯฮฟฯ ฮฝฮฟฮผฮฏฮถฯ..."
*As an aside (for anyone who might be familiar with Russian), this is very similar to the difference between the "soft" palatalized Russian consonant "ะผะธ" [mสฒi] and the "hard" palatalized Russian consonant in "ะผั" [mษจ].
Although not the most common vowels in the world, the front rounded vowels /y รธ ล/ seem to occur much more frequently than their back unrounded /ษฏ ษค ส/ amongst world languages. Why is this?

I am using Classik Styles
window decorations to make my windows have sharp corners.
What do I need to to, so that "System Tray" and "Task Manager" widgets have sharp corners as well?
I'm fine with editing svg's or modifying the theme or whatever, I just can't figure out what I need to change.
Any info is appreciated, cheers
Hi,
When I do out the calculation I need on my phone I'm multiplying 38x.7 to get 26.6%.
When I use Excel and use the cell that has 38 in it based off of another formula, it's actually 37.5 rounded to 38.
How do I get Excel to actually use the rounded up number (I've used the decrease decimal function) as it can make a big difference in this case overall my calculations being 39.2 as opposed to 39.6 and therefore 40% as my colleagues are doing it the old fashioned way and I need to be in line with their results as such to create fairness.
My only solution so far is to do the calculations manually, or to go back and edit the cells like 38 and just type them in rather than basing them off a formula and wreck the work I've done and confuse myself in future if I need it as a template again.
Using Excel for 365 MSO
And how would that be represented in IPA?
Thanks in advance! :)
(Also not sure which flair's best for this post as there are many)
/e/ is the mid vowel between /i/ and /a/ while /o/ is the mid vowel between /u/ and /a/. /e/ and /o/ are very common. Yet the vowel /ษจ/ which is the mid vowel between /i/ and /u/ is very rare. Why is that?
(In other words, the cardinal vowels /a/, /i/, /u/ are extremely common and so are 2 of the 3 mid point vowels between them: /e/ and /o/. Yet the 3rd mid point vowel /ษจ/ is very rare.)
I'm currently in the process of switching from Windows 10 to Ubuntu. Problem is: I really don't like the UI. I really love the sharp edged corners of Windows 10, but Ubuntu has rounded corners everywhere. Any way of unrounding the corners?
Alternatively, is there a distro that has square corners specifically?
OS Version: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Apparently, /สฬ/ is the semivowel equivalent of the open back unrounded vowel /ษ/, so what would the semivowel equivalent be for the open central unrounded vowel /รค/? And I assume there is no semivocal equivalent for the open front unrounded vowel /a/?

Doesn't that look ugly? Can the number please be rounded down to 300k? It would look a lot better.
I've noticed that a generation of middle class Britons (born around WWI) produced noticeably higher รฆ sounds
see 'as' in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9lmepH9STs
'massive' in https://youtu.be/A2xqgT5mtd0?t=15
'that' in https://youtu.be/qh29gBLoHVU?t=38
Can someone give a more technical explanation as to how to produce this sound and perhaps even speculate on why it disappeared from British speech?
I'm trying to find an easy way to explain to people how to pronounce my Korean surname ๋ฐฉ [paล].
We know that the CP that you seen on your pokemon's stat page is:
MAX (10, floor (Base Atk + Atk IV) * (Base Def + Def IV)^0.5 * (Base Sta + Sta IV)^0.5 * CPM^2 / 10)
In your pokemon storage or gyms you see certain pokemon with the same CP because of this. However, in the system they are actually ordered based on their true CP (including the decimal part that you don't see):
(Base Atk + Atk IV) * (Base Def + Def IV)^0.5 * (Base Sta + Sta IV)^0.5 * CPM^2 / 10)
Not sure if this has been posted before but I just noticed this when calculating the IVs of some of my pokemon. I don't know what they use in the case that two pokemon have exactly identical true CP though.
edit Thanks to doublefelix921, I figured out that the above is incorrect. If you unfavorite or evolve a pokemon, it will go to the bottom of the CP list. I evolved all my weedles in order of CP (from highest to lowest) so the last pokemon evolved is also the pokemon with the lower "True" CP. It is possible that the latest in the gym, etc. would also be a change that causes the pokemon to be at the bottom.
i always loved how they held on to the fact that Steven was grounded from TV and they constantly referenced it.
and when Garnet finally told him he was ungrounded, it was just so unexpected and sweet, haha I loved it! I think I probably said "aww yaaaay!" outloud :)
I have a warforged Fragment of the Dark Star heroic as a warlock, is there a way to see it's stats? In game it still rounds to 4%, so it looks identical to the non warforged. I was wondering if it was worth upgrading with Valor as a priority (I don't tend to use it on a lot of fights) but I can't even see what it would upgrade to as the numbers don't change!
Tl;dr Is there a way to see unrounded stats on items?
I booted up my laptop and all icons are rounded now. I used to be able to disable a flag, but I am not seeing the option any longer.
I know that in simple cases you can just go and look on the workshop tab, but it would be convenient to see whether the "+6" that you get for a given resources is actually +5.5 or +6.49.
And in the case where you're crafting blueprints with CAD or whatever, it's not easy to get the information any other way.
