So I NEVER do this BUT I feel disappointed and sad and I need more than 3 people's opinions. This is a long story so I apologise in advance and thank you for reading. I'll try to cut out all unnecessary stuff.
So in August 2020, I got into my first relationship ever. But I never expected or imagined it to be a guy online. I ( 22 years old now) met my Now Ex/friend (24 years old now) on a friendship app called: We 3. Yeah yeah I know it's not meant for dating I wasn't planning on falling in love either. We started talking non-stop. The third person never joined and we decided that we don't want him to join either so you moved to WhatsApp.
I know this might sound like a cliché. But for us, it felt like we knew each other way longer than we did. We just clicked. And started to like each other and one day he confessed his feelings and told me not to feel pressured to do anything about it he just wanted to be honest and not keep it to himself. After a long long discussion, we decided to officially be together.
The only downside to this whole story at that point was that I was living and working in SA and he was living and studying in NL. So A long-distance relationship. So over the next few months, our emotional bond grew even stronger. We video called every night and kept the call on until morning. Luckily we didn't have a massive time difference (1 hour in NL winter) We would surprise each other with lunch we ordered and give special messages with it. We would watch movies and football matches together on Skype. Also played a lot of games, Shared very deep and difficult stories from our past Which other people around us don't know about. We even started talking about the far off future like marriage, kids, relocation, etc. Something I also didn't expect for this relationship.
Our initial plan was for me to go visit him in December. Sadly that didn't go through because of Covid. SA went into lockdown. We were both sad and anxious about what would happen next. But he told me that I have nothing to worry about and that he will wait for me no matter what because he still loves me so much.
SOME IMPORTANT CONTENT: I have major trust issues because of things that happened to me in the past. ( but in this day and age who doesn't have trust issues.) But anyway I hate when someone would make promises they can't keep and also not be honest with me. He also didn't like it when someone like himself had a very open and honest relationship. For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
