A list of puns related to "Ulnar"
Hi folks! In a semi experienced rope bottom and recently was tying with someone newer to suspension. I had one of my arms tied kind of like a chicken wing, and he suspended me by that on the side.
Eventually i felt i couldn't move my wrist so he took me out and i felt mostly fine, but my wrist was weak and my pinkie and ring finger were tingly. I was doing finger checks throughout, but these things still happen.
I had acupuncture a day later and the day after that, the tingles and numbness are mostly gone.
Problem: the middle of my upper left arm(same arm) is so sore. It hurts when I move it in some positions. It feels like it's in my bone. Touching that spot borderline makes me cry. But it isn't tingly or anything.
I just don't know what that means. Is it nerve damage? Why didn't it bother me prior?
How do I best take care of myself while healing? (Obviously not doing any more rope anytime soon)

CTS got progressively worse for 2.5 years until I finally got the proper diagnosis. We had ruled it out early on because of a clean EMG and NCS until I saw an elbow and wrist specialist who told me that they frequently come back negative even in the case of bad damage like mine (I'm talking curled up twitching fingers and curled up in the fetal position from the pain level). I had surgery on each side and had a significant amount of grip strength and feeling back within minutes of waking up post-op.
I'm on Week 6/7 and have developed ulnar nerve entrapment/inflammation? in BOTH arms. (Burning elbows, some pain along the nerve going to arm, tingling in pinky and ring fingers and sometimes burning when they're bent.)
Is there anything in the routine that could cause this? I think it would be some other activity if it was just one side, but both? I don't think it's a specialist issue just yet but I'm trying to find the source.
I work at a standing desk and play guitar but it seems to coincide with me starting the program. I was only doing one pushup in Energy 2.0 and doing planks (on my hands, not forearms) for Fat Burner 2.0.
I don't feel any pain putting my weight on arms but I really can't think of what other lifestyle habit could cause it in such a short time. Any experiences would be appreciated.
Four months ago I wrote a desperate post about my chronic pain, which you can find here.
I'm a 28 and on November 10, I received subcutaneous ulnar nerve transposition surgery on my right arm. I'll first give real TLDR, then a brief overview, then go into detailed updates about recovery for those who are interested. I put an excruciating amount of detail specifically for anyone who goes through this surgery, because I had so many questions and moments of uncertainty.
TLDR
My EMG was clean but my right ulnar nerve was actually compressed and scarred to my bone (TBD for left one, which is not as bad). The surgery was successful but it seems that the way my surgeon performed the transposition is making recovery much longer than necessary. Recovery has been painful and exhausting, and I was unable to do much for the first 10 days. But TOTALLY worth it!
Key points for anyone getting this surgery:

BRIEF(ISH) OVERVIEW
It turns out that I had been on the surgery waitlist since July 2020 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I had either forgotten or never been told about it. Either way, I received my surgery on November 10, 2021.
Before surgery
After describing my symptoms to my surgeon, he checked for ulnar nerve subluxati
... keep reading on reddit β‘I started feeling the numbness and tingling in my left hand's pinky/ring finger and palm area below those fingers about a week ago. There was no pain at all, and mind you the numbness was very very slight. Starting a couple days ago I've tried to keep my left elbow as straight as possible, especially when I sleep (haven't bought an elbow splint yet so the success of this has probably varied). Also I've been doing these ulnar tunnel syndrome glides every day for the past couple days as well.
Now I don't feel any of the numbness/tingling on my hand at all, EXCEPT for when I bend my elbow all the way. I don't mean only slightly bending my elbow, I mean bending it completely. Whenever I do that I feel a sudden "snap" (for lack of a better word idk) of numbness/tingling on my hand; but other than the times that I've bent my elbow completely, no symptoms at all anymore. With that said, is my left arm ok now? Is it normal to have only rare occasions of numbness/tingling such as when bending the elbow all the way, or should I expect NO numbness/tingling whatsoever for a full recovery?
I've been taking a break from working out and playing video games on my computer to help my hand heal, so I'm just wondering if it's okay for me to continue doing those things at this point of my recovery.
Hi, I'm 42, and I've been diagnosed with Ulnar Neuropathy, so severe in the left arm that if I don't make immediate change I'm told I'll lose the use of my pinky and ring finger permanently.
I've been a lurker here for a long time, and I own dozen of mechanical keyboards.
I was wondering if any of you had luck with something I'm thinking of: as you know the trouble with Ulnar Neuropathy is that you can't bend your elbows - so your arms need to be straight, ideally by your side.
Has anyone tried using a split keyboard and 'tape it' to each side of a chair and type vertically? I can touch time as 80wpm easy so I'm thinking a 'weird' setup would drop me to 50 and that's still acceptable.
This shit is so frustrating, it's not overly painful but I'm afraid I will cause more damage if I flex or extend my arm too much.
Has anyone had it what can i do?
I had it about 1 month ago for 3 months prior it calmed down on its own, and now is back consequently after underhand lat pull downs, what does that even mean LOL?
Anyway any advice would be nice, my doctor says rest it that's the only thing :/
Hey Ortho bros!
So, I was wondering about ulnar neuropathy management from exam-prospective (Step 2), because I saw some sort of controversy between UTD and Medscape, and I would appreciate your guidance.
UpToDate:
"In that trial, 70 patients with mild or moderate symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome were randomly assigned to night splinting, stretching exercises, or control groups. At six months, there were no significant differences among the groups in any of the outcome measures"
Medscape:
"For initial conservative treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome, use of an elbow pad or night splinting for a 3-month trial period is recommended. [153, 154] If symptoms do not improve with splinting, daytime immobilization for 3 weeks should be considered. Surgical release may be warranted if the symptoms do not improve with conservative treatment."
Generally speaking, should we use the conservative treatment or go with surgery ?
Thanks
Hello all,
I was wondering if there was anything else i can do to fix my pinched nerve from a work injury I have just finished my covered physio for it and i am still having the numbness in my finger and off and on pain in in shoulder and for arm before this i was quite active with the RR from bodyweightfitness so i was wondering if there is anything else i can supplement to relive this issue. Injury happened in Sept started physio in Oct which just ended
from physio i was given these stretches and exercises
any help would be very much appreciated
Heya, been dealing with tendon+nerve rsi in both arms for years, tho slowly getting better. No pain at rest is normal for me now. However...
I laid down weird for a while (bending my neck too much) and a few hours later my left arm started hurting from the elbow to the ring and pinky finger. I'm guessing the position pinched my ulnar nerve or something. That's the only thing i can think of that could trigger it.
It absolutely sucks, i basically can't use my arm at all now bc any bending or load on it is very painful. I'm back to the one-armed days at the start of my RSI but with the opposite arm π I was hoping that i could sleep it off but it's still here the day after.
No access to doctors right now, so I'm asking if anyone else had this experience here. Is there anything i can do to help my arm? Or is this something i just need to wait out, soothe with ice etc? I'm scared to stretch like normal.
Had my Ulnar submascular transposition from nearly 4 months ago
I feel like a rubber band stretching whenever I extend my wrist
I thought it could be fixed with physical therapy and stretches but it doesn't help so far
is that normal? also I don't know what's stretching a nerve or a muscle? it just feels like a rubber band and it pinches really hard when i over extend it
Female, 35. 170lbs. White. High blood pressure. On meds for HBP. Ulnar pain and tingling in right pinky finger though that hasn't been a big problem lately.
I have had ulnar nerve issues since March 2021. I did OT and ultrasound therapy from April until July 2021. I was bracing my elbow straight and my wrist straight. I had an EMG in August. The EMG said it was a mild to moderate injury somewhere in my forearm. Pain in wrist and pinky on right hand. Went to special ortho Dr October 4th 2021. Since I can't take NSAIDs he recommended Voltaren for the pain and inflammation. It work for 2 months but now I am experiencing more pain. Now in the back of my elbow as well. The brace I am wearing is starting to deform underneath my forearm and cause loss of hair as well from constant use. I try to keep my arm straight at night with a pillow.
Appreciate any advice. Ask any questions and I'll try to respond. All the Dr I have seen because of this have mentioned steroid shots but keep avoiding it as a treatment since they don't know where the inflammation is.
Is nerve pain (specifically like an aching pain with a heated sensation and a sharp pain in my wrist if I bent it down) normal for healing nerves or is it something to be concerned over?
How many of you have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel or ulnar nerve entrapment on your EMGs? I believe mine showed on the NCS but Iβm curious how many have gotten the same diagnosis.
Disclaimer I'm not a medical professional, this is just my experience. Long story short,
I no longer feel pain or significant pain from the nerve. I have returned to full time gym and do not feel any discomfort when doing 99% of exercises, push ups being the main movement that may sometimes irritate me. I'm glad I did not op for surgery as I am satisfied where I am right now being able to do pretty much everything I could do before without symptoms.
Down below are a few things I've changed over the past few months that I think have significantly helped with my recovery
Sleeping on my back
Daily resisted chin tucks with rotation
eating a healthy diet (high protein, no processed foods)
drinking alot of water (minimum 1L per every 25kg i weigh)
staying positive and not thinking too much about it
I have been diagnosed with bilateral subluxation and will have my first surgery early next year. My problem is that I have quite intense pain when typing or using a mouse. The pain is in the inside of my elbow and radiates down to my little finger as it worsens and my forearm becomes achy. Has anyone experienced similar pain and if so how did you manage it? Drugs or exercises? I currently take 300mg pregabalin and that was good at first but seems less effective after several months.
Been feeling numbness and tingling in my left pinky and ring fingers and the palm below those fingers for a little more than a week now. I suspect I have ulnar neuropathy, so I've been doing ulnar nerve glides. When I first started doing them I didn't feel anything when doing them'; but now, when I do them, the tingling becomes more intense in my palm, and it feels like something is "popping" out in the palm (not really sure how to describe it).
I read online that I shouldn't be feeling that, and that I should stop doing the glides. When I went to my doctor today, he told me that I should be feeling that. He then printed me instructions on some ulnar nerve glides, and the instructions themselves say, "If this exercise causes numbness, tingling, or pain in your hand, ease off of the stretch. You should not have symptoms as you stretch. If you cannot back off enough so that you can do the exercise without symptoms, stop doing the exercise right away."
So what's right? Should I be feeling this "popping" in my palm when I do these exercises? Or should I not be feeling it, which means I should refrain from doing these exercises?
I am recovering from what i suspect is a minor case of ulnar and radial tunnel in both of my arms. I was fortunate enough to be able to rest and let my arms recover for a few months. I'd say I am 70% healed now. However, I still have pain in my "funny bone" area of my elbows and pain in the opposite side of my elbows as well.
I read a post on here a while ago that said that people often bend their arms in their sleep and it can make arm pain worse. A nerve brace will keep their arms straight even if they roll around in their sleep like me. I'm looking to buy a nerve brace from an online store like amazon or any kind of medical supplies website.
Which one do you recommend? Any under 50$ Canadian (for one brace)?
About two years ago, I was feeling pretty much a daily ache at my wrist and traveling a bit upwards. It wasn't severe pain, just a persistent and distracting ache. Eventually, it popped somewhere I'd never popped on my wrist before: the ulnar side. The ache mostly subsided from there forward, but especially if I was popping that side of the wrist. Now, I crack my wrist by pressing down on the ulna or twisting it outward, and I can often crack it multiple times in quick succession. I've never met anyone else who cracks their wrist in this way, and I've only ever popped my other wrist like this once. Does anyone know what this is or do something similar?
i have been dealing with these for around 5 months. i was able to recognize the problem before it got to the point of numbness/ excruciating pain. i reduced the amount of stuff i do (like using computer, weightlifting, etc) by a whole bunch for 3 months to give my arms a chance to heal.
for the last 2 months, i have been slowly increasing the work i do. but i've hit a wall where my condition isn't getting any better. i still feel some pain, and have to take too many breaks.
i will go to a physiotherapist soon for advice on nerve glides. i had carpal tunnel a few years ago, and he gave me a nerve glide that helped with it. I'm hoping he can give me some excersizes to help with my arms.
I am also interested in getting a nerve brace to wear when sleeping. i toss and turn a lot during my sleep and often wake up to find my arms bent. Which ones do you recommend? I am on a budget, so i'd like to buy 2 braces for less than 100 Canadian Dollars.
I feel pretty good right now. Can anyone who got this operation tell me how long the numbness on their fingers lasted? My left pinky and ring finger are still pretty numb. Anything else I should be aware of?
I am getting surgery on my left arm in 2 weeks. It has been about 1 year since I could use a computer/drive.
What is the surgery like, and how does recovery look like? I have pain in my elbows, that crawls up my biceps, and under my shoulder blades bi-laterally. Doing the left arm first, hopefully I will be able to have normal function again.
