A list of puns related to "Typhus"
So a pretty hilarious part of Warhawk i haven't seen anyone talk about yet is the batshit Typhus subplot. So Mort and Typhus are having their usual arguments, Mort wants to stay put in the starport and send bummer vibes at Dorn for fun, while Typhus wants to push on to the palace and is worried they will get attacked if they stay put. Mort disagrees and sends Typhus to do the duty of retaking the Astronomicon for the Traitors. Typhus disobeys orders and instead hides his company a few miles outside the port. Not to help, or ambush the Whitescars, he does nothing when the Khan attacks, he hides his company just so he can pop out to say "i told you so" to the Deathguard survivors who stagger out of the port. He lets his Primarch get beheaded and the astronomicon possibly be lit just for that pleasure of saying "i knew best" to to a bunch of line soldier Deathguard survivors, none of whom were there for his conversation with Mort.
So now Dorn has recovered and loyalist reinforcements might be incoming, all because of petty ass Typhus, hero of the imperium.
Today I played my first game with my Tau crusade list. We did a 3 player game 2v1. My tau at 25 my friends necrons at 25 vs our other friends 50pl Terminus Est forces. Me being Tau the Necrons went more melee heavy (took tesla immortals everything else was melee)
I dropped my crisis bodyguards in his back line, my Coldstar advanced all the way into his back line. Wiped a 20man pox walker squad and 3 of a 5man Plague marines squad.
Death guard turn 1 he dropped his Deathshroud and Typhus back by my Coldstar. He charged with death shroud, Coldstar (with 4 FB) rolled 3 6s in over watch killing 2 of the 3 death shroud. He survived the solo DS melee with 1 wound.
My turn 2 the 3 body guards dump their 27 CIB shots into Typhus leaving him on 1 wound after saves. My gun drone fires his 4 shots, rolls 3 5s to hit. Then rolls 2 5s to wound. DG player had no CP left for re rolls after burning all 7 in turn 1, rolls a 1 on one of the saves. Dead Typhus.
Moral of the story kids? Even a lonely gun drone can kill the chosen of Nurgle for the Grearer Good!
So a single Plague Marine wouldn't pose enough firepower to do too much damage, and a combined military action would kill him pretty quick I believe. Realistically, I'm sure the military would treat the marine as if an alien landed on earth, so a ton of quarantines around him immediately after death and other precautions. But this would also mean we would want to dissect and study the body I assume. Would the marine be carrying enough disease to infect a large enough population to pose an extinction level disaster? Would Typhus be enough to cause extinction?
The Masters, Bidding is absolutely one of the best short stories in 40k. Recently, I've seen people talking about it, and bringing up Emmesh-Aiye and his mutilated child-slaves and how he died furious because he couldn't make them suffer more. And sure, that's a thing and all.
But we forget what is important. What is absolutely key. The reason that Emmesh-Aiye is absolutely the most valid. That is, the fact that his story to tell was entirely about the time he humiliated, defeated, and completely clowned on Typhus.
Context: The idea of the story is that several Chaos Space Marines-Khrove of the Thousand Sons, Hodir of the Night Lords, and Drachmus of the Word Bearers-have gathered to try to get a bunch of soulstones from the dreadnaught Chengrel. To get the soulstones, they must give a tale of a great victory of theirs in addition to whatever their payment is.
*βMy court and I were dancing our celebration of the ruin of the maiden world Ethuaraine when word came to me that Typhus, that bitter little soul, was mustering his plague fleet for some great work. The news pricked my wits, woke me to possibilities. What a conquest! What a victory to lay at the feet of the Ecstatic Prince! What new doors might be opened to my consciousness in reward!*
*βMy sweet daemon-consorts slid their barbs into my senses and cast visions into my eyes and words into my ears. They showed me Typhusβs contention with some mighty Imperial preacher, who had led a great host of his faithful to claim a world whose own faith was already claimed elsewhere. They showed me Typhus raising his tattered banner in the fray, the confrontation that drove the Imperial invaders back, and the tiny clutch of eggs under the preacherβs skin, undetected among the sting-welts from Typhusβs unhallowed Destroyer swarm, incubating in him even as their parent swarm lived in Typhusβs own flesh. Soon the upstart swarm had made a hollow wreck of the upstart missionaryβs body but yet had not taken his life, and now Typhus was preparing to follow the failed crusade back home, wither the manβs hive down around him and take him away with them, reborn into an endless life of servitude to despair.*
*βHow repugnant a fate! How bountiful my Thirsting Mistressβs generosity that allowed me to make him mine instead! Truly I am the instrument of magnificence!*
*βMy visions showed me the Terminus Est leading Typhusβs fleet out of its anchorage, and we flew like darts to remain ahead of them. We found his doom
