Kendra Morris recently released Sleep Flight, a spellbinding new piece created specifically for the World Collage Day show which combines collage animation and music. 10 exclusive non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of the artwork were created, which include a high-definition version of the music video and a music file of Morris’s song of the same name. No other versions of this song will ever be released, as it is solely available through the purchase of the NFT. The physical Sleep Flight artwork - one of the highlights of the exhibit - sold within minutes of the NFTs being promoted on OpenSea.

Trigonal interstitial sites can occur in close packed planes found in HCP, FCC, and rhombohedral close-packed Sm-type crystals.
Are there any examples where trigonal interstitial sites actually matter? Even in hydrogen storage, it seems like hydrogen goes to octahedral and tetrahedral sites.
Does anyone know any practical example where the trigonal interstitial site is used?
This is what I spent hours today trying to find.
I couldn't find any information on this (not even r/math, *gasp*), so I decided to solve this myself. The trigonal antiprism is a specific octahedron in which 2 parallel triangles are separated by alternating triangles, akin to a prism. The trickiness to solving the volume has to do with the shape. This octahedron can be thought of as being composed of 2 rectangular oblique pyramids. After scouring online for an hour, I figured there wasn't much to say on how to determine the height without a 3D modeling program. So, I solved for the height of this pyramid using the laws of sines & cosines & integrated it into the calculation for the antiprism. I plugged what I got into Wolfram Alpha & got an astonishingly simple equation: s²/6•sqrt(12l²-s²). Since the volume of the pyramid comprises half the volume of the trigonal antiprism, the equation for an oblique rectangular pyramid is s²/12•sqrt(12l²-s²).
I used Desmos to check my work & also graph a cool net of the trigonal antiprism for variables s & l; s is the "short" equilateral side making up the 2 opposite faces while l is the "long" altitude of the isosceles triangles making up the antiprism shape. This entire endeavor was to help design a computer case that I thought looked cool & had a large surface area while not taking up too much desk space (I'm looking at you, rectangular prism).
