A list of puns related to "Traineeship"
Hey everyone, first a little bit of history for context. I'm 26 right now, and 2 years ago I finished a game development degree. in the first two years of the degree, we messed around with different languages like action Script, web devstack(HTML, js, CSS, JSON ), python, etc etc. exploring programming concepts within them. eventually, somewhere in the second year, I decided to stick with unity and c# as my preferred choice, because it was the most comfortable to use for me and also because it was the most supported set of tools supported by the teachers in case I had questions
what I mean to say is that I think I know most of the basics of coding and some advanced concepts, but still have many holes in my knowledge about coding as the result of some concepts not being very prominent in game development (at least not on the scale I experienced). the concepts in question are networking, databases, LINQ, automated tests and security, among other things which I can't name from the top of my head.
now the thing is, game dev jobs aren't paid as well as software development jobs here, it makes about a 1k a month difference. if not, much more depending on the company.
now I've been thinking about following a bachelor (cs / .net degree) to expand upon my skillset and catch up on the things I've missed that'd make my skills more suitable for 'normal / business' software development. but as I've been looking around for jobs I've also come across paid traineeships that take in total 2 years with an admittedly fairly meagre (relatively) salary of 2.5k, whereas I see job listings for unity/c# work (creating VR/AR/mobile apps, not games) for around 3-3.5k. but I feel like if do that I'd be kind of skewing my skill set more and more in the direction I'm already in, that said many companies provide free training for new skills, so I could try and convince staff that getting .NET training would be useful and learn it on the job I imagine.
that said, getting a unity based job would require me to do a bunch of prep work, which could take me at least a few months. and I definitely won't immediately be picking up .NET on the job from the get-go, first comes integrating into the team, etc, etc. and although I potentially could, I doubt I'll be wanting to spend a lot of my free time learning .NET. I've got other hobbies too like making music, and or playing video and board games with friends. the entry point for this route is also quite a bit higher. and I'm not su
... keep reading on reddit β‘I checked out their fb, website and recruitment agencies but they don't have any programs for internship/traineeship. In fact, I cant find many internship/traineeship programs at all on the Internet. How do I intern then? I am about to start the final semester and we need to do internship.
Hello I'm in my final year and I'm planning to take a gap year to build my portfolio in UX design as I only realised that I want to pursue this when I was in year3 so I didn't have enough time to gain some industry experience. I'm wondering which would be a better option in terms of the learning opportunities? Based on the opportunities that I've found so far, it really concerns me if the company does not have a good eye for design as I'm not sure how capable they are as a mentor and also how open they will be to new ideas. If anybody have completed a UX design traineeship pls share with me your experience as well!!
Happy Monday morning, fellow state blorpers.
I am currently an OA1 out of my probationary period and recently received two canvasses for traineeships:
Payroll Assistant Trainee (DMV)
Law Dept Document Specialist Trainee 1
I currently work in an office that currently allows 50% work from home, and the office itself is pretty quiet, so my cube feels relatively safe. At this point in time, I have no idea when the OA2 exam will be offered again, and I don't want to be stuck as a 6 for any longer than I have to be. Does anyone in these agencies or who has been in these positions have any advice?
Mainly, I'm wondering how friendly the DMV and the Law Department are to working from home, and whether or not these traineeships are worth the stress. It's definitely a better career opportunity, but I want some ideas before I respond. Thanks for any advice.
Hi everyone! After applying randomly, I was very surprisingly selected for the Bluebook traineeship starting next March. I have a BA in Translation and a MA in International Relations, and I am mostly focusing on comms. I am 27 already, since I took two years off to work between BA and MA (although I kept working during my MA too). I just finished another internship (I graduated in March 2021) in communications at a pretty important feminist NGO, which was a great but very frustrating experience, mostly because I was paid very little and again I had to work two jobs to pay my bills. All this background info is to explain my true question: is the famous Bluebook traineeship worth the trouble of moving to another country and doing what is basically another low-wage traineeship? Does it really help building a career if not in the EU, at least in Bruxelles? Or is it useful mainly for some sectors only (public affairs, policy analysis, etc.)? Thanks a lot for your help!!
Hello everyone!
So I was offered a traineeship (below $2.5k) in June and got confirm in December - with a salary of just nice $2500, trying to apply for a credit card, I did submit my traineeship + employment contract
Is there any chance it would be approved? Since technically I have been in the company for more than 3 monthsβ¦
Hallo Reddit!
I'm a 3rd year university student. I was offered a traineeship program in another country, but that would make my university degree 1 year longer. Aside from that, I'm really scared to take the traineeship because I feel underprepared, being the job in R+D.
Should I take it? Maybe wait a few years to get more experience in the field and then reapply?
I am currently a M/C employee with a few years of experience in contracts. I'm unhappy at my current agency and would like to pursue other positions with the state, and it looks like most of the openings require a 2-year traineeship.
So what does it mean to be a trainee? Is it just starting at a lower salary grade, or does it impact your benefits too? Is it like the probationary periods where you can't accrue or use time off?
Any insight is much appreciated.
Hey guys abyone has experienced with the sgunited traineeship thing? I gotta ask how it goes and if its worth a go esepcially for those after ORD. Thankiew
"Doing an Apprenticeship or Traineeship at 27?"
I'm considering doing an apprenticeship or traineeship next year in either a Locksmith or electronic trades equipment. Now, I know these may not be the best choices but I haven't officially come up with my top choices yet. I'm going to try to come up with a top-five then work from there.
Does anyone here know a med student who took part to this program?
A good friend of mine would like to have an internship abroad through this program. If you did so, how did you find the hosting center? Did you contact them one by one or did you follow a list of participating hospitals?
Thanks for the help!
Hi again everyone,
I just had a few questions on corporate law firm traineeships, as my last question here received a lot of good responses and in case anyone has experience applying to them. I'm considering applying to one for 2023, as it looks like Matheson is still open (and Maples have their internship open)
Can you apply before having sat any FE1 exams at all? I'm currently preparing for my first sitting, but applications for Matheson's 2023 traineeship will close before the March sitting
In the case that the answer to question 1 is yes, do they ask you the specific FE1 subjects your studying for the next sitting? I say this because while I've started a company law prep course (and three other subject courses) I'm considering switching company out for something else, possibly tort, but my concern would be that a corporate law firm may interpret that as a lack of interest in company law and that it could hurt me in the application process.
Thanks!
Imagine you got pre-selected for translation traineeship both at the European Commission (Blue Book) and at the European Council, which one would you choose? For the Blue Book, working for a DGT, you may be eligible to participate in the Pilot Junior Professionals Programme, and get a 2 year contract as an AD5 after the traineeship. The Council does not offer such opportunity, but Iβve heard the trainees are sometimes invited to sit the tests and get a position later.
Would like to know which traineeship is more valued? Where is it more likely to get a position after the traineeship?
Hi, im a student from Italy of hydraulic engineering , i would like find a placement in Europe for my intership, iβve to find an enterprise, associated study , research institute , private or public, iβve tried to find it by websites but i found Nothing in my study area , so iβm asking your help, if you have some suggestion to find a placement, because being a student with no experience , i have no idea and i dont have any contact. I would like improve my digital skill, expeccialy about numerical modelling
My husband is looking to make a career move, he is in his early 30βs, and has spent the last 10 years working in childcare. He is burnt out, and the pay sucks (~$49,000 pa).
He is interested into getting into IT, working for a help desk or similar eventually. I see that there are IT traineeships around, and a Microsoft specific traineeship, are there worth doing, or would he be better getting some qualifications independently? Iβd love to hear peopleβs experiences, if anyone has any! :)
Has anybody gone for Erasmus supported paid internship/ traineeship in Italy? Or somebody here from Italy in the field of geodesy?
I've been on a web development training course (England) for over half a year now. Recently they've said they've started training me up for a role at their company and have started to give me billed client work, which I've honestly been finding quite difficult and stressful since I have to account for every minute worked with a logged note. I have to attend this for 40 hours a week and the only money I get is UC. I'm feeling pretty stressed out about this so I just wanted to know what other peoples thoughts were.
My girlfriend is soon to start their traineeship and I want to get them something nice for their start.
What types of things would you recommend?
All the help online is mostly directed towards guys (wallets etc).
Can anyone share their experiences working with Datacom Melbourne (not their call centers) or can anyone whoβs done the Microsoft Traineeship Program in Victoria give a review? Canβt find much online.
Hi all, using a throwaway in case my handle gets recognised. I'm in a bit of a moral dilemma. I'm a uni fresh grad who started a traineeship with a company in June, and the duration will last til early December. Things were ok at first but recently I feel that workload has increased tremendously and I'm not really learning anything new, just doing same old things over and over again. The reason for increase in workload is that the interns we had and another trainee all left at the same time, just before we took on a new project.
I seem to be able to withdraw from the traineeship if I'm offered a full time job elsewhere. The reason I'm having a dilemma is because my supervisor is nice and seems to be overworked, so if I leave they will have to take on more workload, which makes me feel a little guilty. Although I say they are nice, I think quite bad at giving instructions ( one day says this, another day says that). I also don't foresee them hiring me at the end of the traineeship. Alot of the things I do can't be put into my portfolio as well, since all of it is under strict NDA. I don't really feel well with my coworkers also, been eating lunch alone haha. My friend says the logical thing to do is to start applying and leave if I get the chance but I can't shake the feeling of guilt and abandonment.
What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!
Edit: thank you all for your insights! I'll be updating my resume to prepare to send it off to other companies soon. Wish me luck! Haha
EDIT: They phoned me and unfortunately offered me the job. I thanked them and said that a complication had come up as Iβd been accepted for university in 3 months. They still want me to work for them for those 3 months β I thought they wouldnβt after mentioning uni, so I didnβt even mention that I may want to do an internship next month (at least I havenβt been accepted for it yet). I was labelled the asshole, but I think this is largely because many of the comments were assuming that Iβd already accepted, whereas the question was specifically if I was the asshole for not mentioning it in the interview β either way though, the company doesnβt seem to think Iβm an asshole since they still want me to do the job. Asshole or not, thank you all for your responses.
I have been claiming benefits throughout the pandemic, however I am going to start University in 3 months.
As I will be starting university soon, my work coach stopped putting me forward for traineeships and internships because he said I βwouldnβt get the full benefit,β which I agreed with. However, I was offered an interview for one Iβd already been put forward for and attended.
The interviewer seemed to really like me, and was impressed by my work experience, so stopped trying to work out if Iβm right for the company and instead started trying to convince me that the company is a great place to work at. He also was apologising that there would be a two week period before it started. I have now been asked to call him back. I think these are all signs that I may have gotten the job β and it seems like a great place to work.
HOWEVER, itβs a 6 month traineeship, and I start University in 3 months. It wouldnβt feel right accepting the job when somebody else could get the opportunity and the company (that seems really friendly) would need to recruit again. Iβm also very likely to be offered an internship at the start of next month that is related to my degree, which would reduce the time I work there to just a few weeks (if this all goes to plan) - this is basically the dream job.
Personally I wouldnβt mind working for a short time, as it would build my experience β but Iβm concerned about this morally and whether it would look bad to future employers that I left after such a short time.
I should call back the company as they will be waiting so Iβm very stressed about this.
Am I the asshole for not mentioning this in the interview? It wasnβt malicious, but I wouldnβt have even applied for this myse
... keep reading on reddit β‘Has anyone faced issues when resigning from a traineeship program?
Iβve been offered a perm role in another company and did my due diligence β speaking to my supervisors, informing my intent to resign and submitting my resignation letter via email.
I was told that the resignation is subject to βgovernmentβs approvalβ and the date for my last day may be extended from the standard 1-month notice period. For example, I tendered on 17 Aug with the last day on 18 Aug but it would be extended to a later date.
I just think these two points contradict all the SGUnited traineeship FAQs and comments online. Importantly, I've already accepted the perm job offer and my first day would be affected if I don't find a solution soon.
Any thoughts are much appreciated!
Hi all!
I'm in charge of the whip round for a work friend who's away to begin his traineeship as a Solicitor. Budget is likely to be around Β£100 and the current idea is either a nice Cross pen and/or some vouchers towards some workwear.
I'm looking to see if anyone here has any suggestions or anything else that may be of use to him or if I'm on the right path?
