A list of puns related to "Totara"
Does anyone know if any online store sells totara berries? After moving away from the top of north island years ago, I miss cooking w them/making strawberry and totara jam.
TL:DR decent days walk, fairly easy off track section except for 200m from hell.
Trip report: Mangatarere Valley Road β Totara Creek via off-track nav β Totara Flats Hut - Sayers Hut β Mangatarere
Photos here. .
This trip is based around the 1999 NZ Topo 50 map (accessible on MapsPast ) that shows a track from the ridge above Sayers hut down to Totara Creek. Iβd heard this referred to as the fastest route into Totara Flats hut, noted a bit of markings around the turnoff on a previous trip and wanted to give it a go. I convinced two friends to give this loop a go as a daytrip, we were pretty well-experienced with off-track nav and quite fit and fast.
Unfortunately technical issues meant I lost my gpx file with some of the finer details. Total distance was 16km
Total walk time incl short breaks: 6hr50min Mangatarere to βjunctionβ: 1hr20min Total time from junction to Totara Creek: 2hr15min Time spent trying to go just the last 200m before Totara Creek: 1hr10min Mangatarere to Totara Flats Hut: 3hr50min Totara Flats Hut to Sayers hut (river crossing): 30min Sayers Hut to Mangatarere: 2hr30min
Mangatarere Valley Road is not in great shape, its got some massive potholes along it. The ford has been rebuilt within the past year, but it still a little dicey getting onto and off it, so Iβm not sure Iβd take a car with standard clearance along there. Roadend is super basic, no toilet or shelter, just a map.
Thereβs a small creek to cross first off, and then the track climbs solidly for about a km, before easing off a bit for the next couple of kilometres. Thereβs some great birdlife around there, heaps of kereru, and we swore we heard a Kakariki. It was a great sunny day but still freezing cold, there was some snow around 700m.
At the top of the ridge there is a bit of a visible track heading off to the North, marked with a bit of tin foil on a branch and then pink flagging tape. From there, there is a faint track similar to a ground trail that is fairly easy to follow most of the way down, we only needed to pull out the map and compass a couple of times to make sure we were on the right baring. Thereβs patches with really good metal blazes, and patches where weβd see none for quite a while. The turn down the spur to the North-West is well marked with an arrow made of metal blazes, and travel down continues to be fairly easy until about 200m south-east of Totara Creek, where we just

Hey all I want to get outdoors a bit this summer and I want to do an overnight tramp because I haven't done one before. I was looking at totara flats as it's not too far out and it seems popular.
I've done a bit of hiking but mostly shorter 2-3 hour day trips. My fitness isn't awful (can run 5km, 10km on flat low wind conditions) but I've never done a tramp with a pack on with gear.
I have the gear for the most part just trying to work out a good first tramp. Cheers!

Hi, We are looking for our first home and Totara Park is one of the suburbs that we are interested in. We have always been around Jville and sort of used to short commutes (we are a bit spoiled maybe :/ ) I work in the city but have an option to work from home up to two days a week, which would be good if we go for a place like Upper Hutt. How is the commute from Totara Park to CBD? Is the area generally good for a young family with kids?
Thanks

One of my clients is potentially looking for a new LMS. Docebo and Totara are both on our short list, partly because they both have the ability to subdivide users into completely separate groups. (This organization provides training to multiple clients, all of whom need their own training with zero interaction and separate reports.)
I have heard positive feedback about both systems, but most of that was 5+ years ago. I'm wondering who has more recent experiences with either of these systems. If so, how has your overall experience been? How has the customer service been if you had problems? If you're using Totara, which partner are you working with?
On a related note, I'm open to any other LMS that can provide all of this out of the box:
We'll manage with fake email addresses and manual password resets if we have to, but the separate audiences is a deal breaker.
