Most of South Asia has a drastically reduced fertility rate. ( Number of children a woman will bear) India has a TFR of 2.2-2.3. Sri Lanka has a TFR of 2.2 Bangladesh has a TFR of 2.01

Does this increasing population pose a worry?
If self-respecting, devout Malayali Hindus are not having 2-3 kids on average, they are doing a great disservice to their future generations. Otherwise but especially in a democracy, demographics is the single most important point if you want to retain power. Politicians will pander to those who can contribute the most votes.
Yet, NOT A SINGLE HINDU LEADER in Kerala (I'd pleasantly like to be corrected) has the guts to tell Hindus to have more kids.
According to the Census of 2011, the TFR is as follows:
1.53 Hindus, 1.7 Christians, 2.3 Muslims
Nair TFR was 1.47 was 2000 and is likely much lower 11 years later. SC Hindus were at 1.485 in 2011, ST were at 1.629. This clearly shows that regardless of wealth or caste, the TFR is much lower than Muslims and even lower than Christians, who are considered to be economically well-off.
