This hole in my backyard has bees flying in and out all day. When I look up ground nesting bees I only find pictures of "solitary" bees in dirt patches surrounded by soil. The question: What type of bee is this, if they are not miner bees?

This is the Blue Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa caerulea) - A relatively large species, growing close to an inch in length. It is non-aggressive, solitary and burrows into a tree to make its nest. Its honey is much thicker and denser having a peanut butter consistency.
