A list of puns related to "Smartcard"
Needed a fill a new ADHD medication. I'm uninsured so the cost was going to be $160 for 30 pills. Called the drug company, they asked me three questions, and then gave me a policy for 100% coverage, or $0 medication. No verification needed for any of the answers. Good for 1 year.
Drug companies have budgets to give away their medication to people who can't afford it or don't have insurance. If it's a highly competitive medication (like ADHD) they also have 30 pills for free to try it out (in hopes you'll ask your doctor to prescribe their medication).
Don't let cost be the factor in getting the medication you need.
Hi fellow Sysadmins,
A customer of mine had a security audit, and the biggest flaw was authentication... Besides the fact, that they use passwords which a 3 year old could hack, we are now looking into 2FA.
My first thought was to implement Smart Card Login. I tested it in my environment but I had no smartcard laying around, to which i could upload my certificate. My question now is, what kind of smartcards do you guys use for 2FA in the Windows Environment? I saw a smartcard from Gemalto which apperently is supported with nativ windows (https://www.cryptoshop.com/products/smartcards/gemalto-idprime-md-840.html) But 30 Euros seems a bit much for a single card (or is it) - is there a cheeper alternativ?
Small insight about the company we are talking about: I have 3 Users with a Smartcard reader already built-in. My plan is to upload the certificate manually with a minidriver manager.
My customer is in Switzerland. So if anyone is from there, please share you insights and where you aquire such smartcards.
And if i'm beeing stupid and there is a much better way around, please tell me :)
Thanks
Howdy! I'm on a 2020 M1 MBA running macOS 11.6.2 with Kernel: 20.6.0
I'm trying to use my smartcard for web authentication.
The OS recognizes both the reader and the smartcard, but does not read the smartcard beyond that.
Here's what I've tried:
updated the SCR3310 Smart Card Reader
driver.
updated Big Sur to 11.6.2
run diagnostics with % pcsctest
which returns the following: reader recognized, card inserted success and the card ATR. Output below:

Just upgraded to 12.0.1 Monterey. When I go to System Settings > Notifications & Focus there is now "Kerberos" and "SmartCard-Connection" in the list of programs... I did not install any of those and this is an almost clean install so I find it very dodgy. Does anyone know what they are doing here?
Hey all,
Lately management has wanted us to start using smart cards that a third party gives us for authentication. We use IDM and are a pure Linux system (so no AD). I can pull the certs, assign them to the correct user and from our Gnome based RHEL desktops use the ipa cert match to accurately state whose card is in the reader. My issue is when you quit to the lock screen and then try to get into the system with the smart card. I feel like I am missing something in the PAM files but to be honest I don't know enough about it to confidently mess with the gdm-password file and was hoping for a more experienced hand to add a clue. Any thoughts?
As the title says, basically. We plan to go smartcard authentication only for all administrative tasks both on servers and on client PCs. Is there a way to get pass the smartcard through to the client machine, when using ConfigMgr Remote Control, basically as if it were using smartcard redirection as it works in RDP connections?
Hello everyone, I have smartcard reader in my laptop and I want to use it for login..
is it possible to use smartcard for login in KDE?? how can I be able to use it or configure it??
I search on the web, but I find almost nothing, not so much people talk about using smartcard in KDE..
Hii there,
I'm trying to use my smartcard (Yubikey) for encryption (and decryption) of main in Thunderbird.
For this, I'm following the tutorial on the mozilla wiki, unfortunately, this doesn't work for me.
Instead, all I keep seeing is this screen.
I've already confirmed that mail.openpgp.alternative_gpg_path
is set to true
and that GPG itself can find my yubikey just fine.
I've also added the bin_64
directory to my path but to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hey r/Hacking!
Hope youโve had a fantastic day.
Iโm a college student and Iโve got some money lying around I could use to buy some tools to expand my hardware hacking skills.
Iโm aware there exists a LOT of different tools for different things. Iโve done research and found 4 different things that do RFID reading and writing, but couldnโt quite figure out which was the best.
Iโm looking to read/write RF, RFID, NFC, MagStripe and SmartCard and resources I could learn from.
This far, Iโve found the RF One by Hak5 for RF.
Proxmark for RFID and NFC.
MSR605X for MagStripe.
Any SmartCard tools?
Thank you!
I have only recently turned 18 and I haven't got my nic yet so can I get vaccinated? also, I don't want to bother my mother to go to the nadra office with me especially during this pandemic
Edit: I do have a passport
Edit 2: I honestly dont want to go because of the overcrowding and lack of social distancing. I feel like it'll do more harm than good because I might actually contract corona by waiting in line for the vaccine. I have avoided any and all places that might be crowded since the pandemic started. But now I have to go because of university requires the vaccination card
I saw a post from 12 years ago saying that it wasnt added yet.
Has support for/plugins for SmartCards been added to KDE yet?
Is there a simple method/gui that will allow me to read and dump the contents of this smartcard, then write them to another card? I have a usb smartcard reader but haven't had much luck finding open source software.

... keep reading on reddit โกHas anyone deployed a piv smart card based solution for door access as well as for Active Directory? I was tasked with looking into a system for electronically securing our corporate office and I don't want to deploy a solution where a key fob can be copied at the grocery store... I mean something that would work with yubikeys would be ideal but I'm not expecting that. If anyone has done this before I would really appreciate any advice and insight I can get.
So far I have reached out to HID about their pivCLASS solution, but I am open to anything that is reasonably secure.
I would add a newbie flair if I could.
So I made a new Proxmox server, which I want to ssh onto, so I don't have to run between rooms when needing to update, make new user etc etc. But the ssh command just returns 'Permission denied (publickey)'. Here's the output of 'ssh -v xyz': https://pastebin.com/QnDNJJX7
Folder permissions on the servers are fine, so should be the config file, and yes I want to log in using my NitroKey without password.
Thank you so much for your time!
Edit: i looked up my key with ssh-add -l , maybe I did something wrong there?
Edit 2: Even though this is more than embarassing, I'm gonna leave this here if any newbie is making the same mistake....it's ssh-add -L for the key and ssh-add -l for the fingerprint....it works now.
So this is my first ST, basically how do I use the smartcard to get in? ๐๐
