A list of puns related to "Schlumberger"
Iβm a recent ChE grad that took a job with Schlumberger as a field engineer. I just found out that I wonβt actually be doing any real engineering and the position is mostly labor-intensive working with pressure equipment.
I donβt want to waste 3 more years and be an undesirable candidate for other companies. Should I try to move within the company since Iβve already started training here or just jump ship altogether and start applying to different companies? Iβm more interested in process engineering, software development, or project management. Apparently the software team here is looking for help right now so I was considering asking them to let me join them.

Reconnaissance Energy Africa (Recon Africa) has made presentations at two events over the last two weeks. These include the following:
Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain Conference on September 14-15, 2021
Virtual Program: https://africa.pesgb.org.uk/virtual-programme/
Africa E&P Summit and Exhibition on September 22-23, 2021 (Leading Independent African E&P)

Summit Speakers: https://www.frontierenergy.network/events/africa-e-p-summit-2021/speakers
Program Request Form: https://www.frontierenergy.network/events/africa-e-p-summit-2021/agenda
The second conference, which was held in London, was sponsored by several O&G majors including ExxonMobil, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, CNOCC, TotalEnergies, and Schlumberger. Many of these companies are currently active in the area, including offshore Namibia, and this provides the opportunity for synergies and infrastructure cost savings in what could be the worldβs next oil hotspot.
This post includes four sections of resources:
Β· Transcribed versions of the presentations of CEO Scot Evans and Structural Geologist Dr. James Granath along with slides presented by Petroleum Commissioner Maggy Shino.
Β· Current exploration in offshore Namibia by Exxon, Shell, and TotalEnergies.
Β· Upcoming events featuring presentations by Recon Africa and Namibian officials.
Β· Selections from the Encore Recon Africa Discord Library.
PRESENTATION TRANSCRIPTS & SLIDES
The Scot Evans presentation included many of the items found in the investor presentation on Recon Africaβs web site along with some recent updates about 2D seismic, which he said is now 2/3 complete (probably over 75% if you add a week of work). If you would like to review the latest investor presentation, which was last updated in August 2021, you can find it here:

Most of the poeple who has completed their 18 months at field ends being placed at SLB manufacturing plant as a design engineer based on my LinkedIn research. T&F offer is great ( pay will be in USD) & I will have opportunity to work in overseas ( currently I'm in Asia & I want to leave my home country).
In the meantime, I am currently working in an European MNC for onshore & Offshore EPCC project as a key account manager. So, I'm basically doing technical sales ( totally not related to my Master's in Petroleum Engineering). However, the company is great & everyone is very supportive. The pay is also great despite being paid in local currency ( Not USD). I have asked my manager for me to be promoted & to be placed in overseas, however he mentioned that I will have to wait 3 years to get an overseas placement ( though shorter is possible depending on my performance). Nonetheless, I am enjoying my work so far as sales doesn't really involve too much of technical knowledge.
I am currently at a crossroad on where should I go. Should I leave my current job in sales & take on Slb's offer offer or should I stay in EPCC sales line ? I have always been a top performer in everything that I do so I forsee getting an overseas placement sooner than 3 year period. What is your opinion ? Any suggestions ?
(Raptor jokes , pepper your Angus, & Sancho jokes are all welcomed :D)
I'm a Junior studying Mechanical Engineering. I just received a Design based Internship offer from General Motors; however, I have to accept/decline a Manufacturing Processes Internship from Schlumberger by Wed, Oct 27. Although I am more interested in exploring the automotive industry, I'm concerned by the fact that the GM internship is set to be working from home. I would rather do some hands on work with Schlumberger since I would most likely get better experience, but ultimately like GM better as a career choice. Any advice regarding interning with either company would be greatly appreciated!

Introduction to Neutrons:
For oil and gas companies, helium-3 is an essential component in neutron logging tools used worldwide.
>βHelium-3 is used in neutron detectors for neutron porosity tools, which are one of the key instruments used to locate hydrocarbons, estimate petroleum reserves and make production decisions,β said Brad Roscoe, scientific advise and nuclear program manager at Schlumberger-Doll Research in Cambridge, Mass.
>
>βThe neutron device is particularly used to establish the rock and fluid parameters which help determine these properties,β he added.
>
>Downhole neutron tools measure the amount of HYDROGEN in rock pores as an indication of porosity.
>
>βSince the neutron porosity measurement is a key measurement,β Roscoe said, βit is run in almost every oil and gas well in the world.β

Discussion:
Water (H2O) has a high concentration of Hydrogen. Helium is basically two types; HE-3 and HE-4. Helium-3 (3He see also helion) is a light, stable isotope of helium with two protons and one neutron and the most common isotope, helium-4, having two protons and two neutrons in contrast.
Gas has a much, much lower density than water, so apparent density porosity will calculate higher than the true porosity. Neutron porosity calculates lower because gas also has a lower hydrogen index than water. Thus, apparent density and neutron porosity are "off" in opposite directions in a gas zone, resulting in large crossover (neutron values much less than density values) in the conventional log display. This difference is termed the "gas effect." [Note - there may also be some fluids present and it is determined in a similar manner.]
To get an imaginary concept, a mental image as it were, of how the neutron tool works; imagine a room filled with mouse traps, triggered and loaded with ping-pong balls. The tool sends out some "neutrons" as ping-pong balls and they strike the traps which sets them off and causes a chain reaction with more balls hitting the traps and then more and more. So the concept is you send a few neutrons and got many many back - hence fluid. Now, sparsely place a few loaded mouse traps randomly ab

I did see an article that said there were some disagreements in the cartel, which signals they MAY NOT ramp up production at all, but I think we will see they stick to the 400 bpd they seemed to agree on yesterday.
I think this OPEC meeting signaled that crude is going to have an opportunity to leg up again, as US shale is not in a place to compete, giving OPEC control of the market for another few months. I believe $80 Brent is going to be here before the summer is over and ITM calls for 3-6 months out will be fairly easy money. These stocks have already seen significant runs up, but have not kept up pace with the rise of crude oil.
Schlumberger and halliburton are both in a position to do well following this OPEC news. I did not buy shares, instead chose to buy slightly otm calls for 6 months out.
am big on Exxon, but as inventories deplete, I believe we will see more gains on the services side of things rather than refiners and producers. I still am long shares/calls Exxon, Devon and Suncor though.
I do still like the pipelines, mainly enbridge as well. The OIH is also a fantastic way to play this, but the options are very expensive which I believe signals the upside risk of near term crude volatility.
