A list of puns related to "Silphium"
At least according to wikipedia, Silphium was used as abortion medicine, among other uses.
I find it interesting that it is a healing item then, knowing (assuming) Selene wasn't exactly the best mother and would maybe have rather not had Helios. I think some databank entry is pretty explicit about Selene or Theia being neglecting towards their offspring.
I'm absolutely gutted. I have been trying and failing for weeks to beat Ixion so I can make it past Biome 2 and I just can't beat him no matter how many times I've tried. I can mostly breeze through the first two phases of the fight, but when it gets to the third phase I am finding it impossible to predict his attack patterns, which makes me panic, which all but guarantees defeat. I really thought I had him this time. I had the odds stacked in my favour but I think maybe that got into my head a little bit and I ended up taking completely unnecessary damage in the first 2 phases of the boss fight which I can normally get through without getting hit at all since his attacks are much more uniform and predictable. Used both my silphium containers within the first 2 minutes of the third phase of the battle, my astronaut figurine had already revived me by the time Ixion's health bar was halfway gone, and within 2 minutes of frantically trying to phase and jump and run away from his attacks I was done. Again. I don't know if I have the heart to try again.
Please, does anyone have any useful tips or tricks? Is there a way to proceed without beating Ixion or am I stuck in Biome 2 forever? :(
EDIT: 24 hours later, for anyone else who stumbles on this post, I did it! I finally defeated Ixion!!! I'm so happy!
So what's the general consensus? I know that both are extremely powerful but which is better? Ideally you'll have enough obs to buy both but what if you don't? What actually gives you more health? Obviously, the Astronaut is amazing because "it just works" without having to manually use it but I actually think the vile may restore more health. Thanks, All.
From Wikipedia: Silphium is an unidentified plant that was used in classical antiquity as a seasoning, perfume, aphrodisiac, and medicine. It also was used as a contraceptive by ancient Greeks and Romans.
Just saw the second ending of the game. The weird pregnant monster in the wheelchair, the child dying, her ship being a metaphor for her child.
Now I read that she's been walking around all game consuming contraceptives. That can't be a coincidence by HM
I haven't seen this posted anywhere on here but for those that are reaching the final boss and might not have what it takes there are actually 2 health pickups available to you during the fight. In the playfield there are two tall rocky sticks. One all the way left, and one right-ish of center. If you break/melee these sticks they will drop a Large Silphium. You can use this before the fights start to increase your integrity (if you're full), or save it for the fight and fill up when low. You can melee them before the fights start too so they don't get in the way of a dodge.
Not my footage / SPOLIER ALERT. You can see the player bump into what I'm talking about at 51 seconds.

Maybe they balanced the ship resting with more health available?
edit: just beat Phrike!!
