Does anyone know when application submission closes? I want to apply to work as a copy editor, but I need to get some things together first and was wondering if anyone knows when the absolute last day to submit might be. Thanks in advance!
I've talked to many students and alums who feel the same. There needs to be an initiative to get it shut down or at least have the discussion about why it does more harm than good. I have yet to read an article reflecting the feelings of the UTA community not affiliated with CAP about CAP
UTD has stopped CAP years ago and it has done wonders for its reputation and morale. Why can't UTA do the same?
UTA is on the verge of universally being a top tier institution but some things got to change before it does. CAP students hurt our retention rates, graduation rates, and the morale of the university. I have nothing personally against CAP students but it's disrespectful to hear and see how most of them dread being at UTA . The CAP program helps create this false narrative that UTA is inferior and a second-class institution when I don't feel it is .... just look at our accomplished alumni and world-class facilities.
Students who didn't get into UT Austin their freshmen year need to go to Austin Community College and transfer in from there ... that makes the most sense to me.
The Shorthorn's Community Voices Info Session: Friday, September 6 from Noon to 1pm
Hi, everyone. My name is Jacob Reyes, opinion editor for The Shorthorn. One of my goals this semester is to make sure our opinion section is as unique and diverse as the student body here at UTA.
Community Voices is our volunteer op-ed program that allows students and alumni alike to write columns about the issues that matter to them. Past columnists have been recognized with national and statewide awards and more.
We're hosting an open house tomorrow at noon in The Shorthorn newsroom located in the UC basement. We will have drinks and snacks provided.
If you believe that we at The Shorthorn do not represent your concerns or values this is an opportunity to change that. I hope to meet you all in person tomorrow. Thank you.
