A list of puns related to "Scuba Skills"
Thought I'd write a few observations since I'm a scuba diver IRL and the subject of Subnautica vs. actual diving/the ocean seems to come up here and on other forums a lot. One of the things I most enjoy about this game is getting to "play dive" without having to consider the constraints of real-life diving, while still getting to use some real-life diving skills.
One particular shoutout to the programmers, tho: the sound is amazing! Yes, your breathing really sounds that loud when you're diving. I also love how stalkers hang out in the kelp forests near the shallows, which some species of shark do IRL. and also! That they seem based on a prehistoric shark called Helicoprion.
Diving skills I use in the game:
Obviously there's a lot that's extremely unrealistic which I love, since the game is awesome. But if I were going to make a couple of suggestions as to minor details which might add a touch of realism:
I have a sim in Isla Paradiso (it works, miraculously) who has the Deep Sea Diver ambition. I haven't played Island Paradise EP in a while, so I'm still not clear about stuff related to it.
I wanna make my sim have the scuba diving skill, but if I try to scuba dive, it's says it's too dangerous for him. But every dive spot is a high level area, so I don't know where to start. There's nothing about this skill in the lessons section. I don't think there are classes for it, at least from what I've seen. So I'd like some help, thanks
I am going to be swim/dive testing and then interviewing for a job if I pass the swim/dive test. I got certified last August, and I haven't had an opportunity to go diving since. I know that it's just going to be simple dive skills. Have any of you taken a test like this or have any good advice on how I can prepare myself for it? I really appreciate any help you can give me.
Iβm new here and looking for any advice, tips, or tricks.
I have anxiety, but it does not typically prevent me from doing things. Iβm a lifelong swimmer and was on a swim team throughout jr high/high schoolβ¦meaning I love the water. I decided to learn to scuba because my partner dives and Iβd love to do it together. I took my first class and quit halfway through due to anxiety. The act of going underwater is difficult and makes me feel very panicky. My instructor was calming and patient but once I started panicking, I could not βlevel outβ enough to go back under. Flash forward to now, 3 months later, and I tried again but with s private lesson. Day 1 went well, a little anxiousness before going under but got comfortable quickly and managed to go through the skills pretty easily. Day 2 was not so great though. I became freaked out while learning to take my mask off completely and putting it back on. I calmed down but then hit a wall when learning to take off my BCD underwater. I just could not make myself go back under and stay under. I know Iβm breathing but for some reason, messing with my mask or gear for the skills freaks me out and then Iβm done.
I really want to learn this and I believe I can, but donβt know why my anxiety is acting up and blocking me so bad. Is that a sign that I shouldnβt continue? Had this happened to anyone else?
Tl, Dr: Iβm leaning to scuba but having anxiety underwater. Any suggestions to combat this?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
