A list of puns related to "Santa Cruz"
Besides who you think will also try to make a compact truck. Who do you hope will make one? Personally I'm hoping Subaru is gonna take another swing at the Baja.
Edit: I suppose I shoulda said "trucks" π
Airbnb hosts in the City of Santa Cruz are required to get permits and charge an Transient Occupancy Tax (just like hotels and motels). The city limits the total number of permits to 250. I took a look today and there are 300+ listings.
If you're interested in a deeper dive, Inside Airbnb has managed to get data, which airbnb refuses to make public.
Personally I believe that Airbnb takes housing off the market, inflates rental and home prices and puts local hotels/motels at a disadvantage if they dont collect the required tax. Airbnb has signed "voluntary collection agreements" with a number of cities and counties. This is where the company automatically collects and submits the occupancy tax, and requires a City registration number before someone can create a listing. We should do this too.

With the cost of housing so high, what is the viable path for someone to become housed here? Shelter, counseling, medical care, mental health care/rehab, job training, and then go make $50/hr?
Itβs such a steep curve that it seems inhuman to me to allow people to sleep in the streets and woods. How is that good for them?
Would there be a better place in the country with more affordable rental housing? Where service work can support the cost of living?
It just seems wrong to me. This isnβt about nimby or unsightly camps..itβs humanity. How can someone be expected to get a foothold in this economy?
Starting as of today, Wednesdays at 5:30 PM, we'll be having a gay men's volleyball gathering. All skill levels welcome, even if you've never even touched a volleyball! There will be covid precautions observed. We meet at the last court closest to the boardwalk at Santa Cruz Main Beach. I've attached a photo that shows where the court is, forgive the tackiness, I just threw it together fairly quickly.
Hope to see you there!
Looking for recommendations for your favorite playground. We have been going to the same few a bit too much lately and want to change it up!
As a sLV resident this is not very comforting, and is infuriating.
Question: Can supervisor Bruce McPherson do anything to help his district make it through this fire season?
"And then if you look at this same map, you can see wires on the map that are in the Boulder Creek area inching up from that Silicon Valley side up into the mountains and down a little bit towards Santa Cruz and by Boulder Creek. And this is one of the riskiest electric circuits in the entire state, according to PG&E and the PUC, in terms of causing potentially another wildfire this year. This is a section of line that PG&E has promised in a corrective action plan to go out and look at and clear branches away from power lines.Β "

UCSC gives me 0 aid because I donβt qualify for neither FAFSA nor California Dream Act. If I live on campus my cost of attendance will be like 30-35k. I really donβt want to go in debt for a bachelors degree in CS. What would you suggest me to do? Will I be guaranteed admission if I transfer from a community college? Any advice will be highly appreciated!
Can anyone help me remember the name/location of this weird bar in the Santa Cruz mountains (Felton, Scottβs Valley, Ben Lomond areas maybe??) Or was I just having a really weird fever dream?
Here is what I remember (Iβm being 100% sincere) - it was a little dive bar with a small indoor swimming pool and it was located right next to a spring with salmon? Or maybe something like a salmon hatchery? And thatβs all I know. Does this exist? Am I crazy?
