A list of puns related to "Rosemaling"
Iβm looking for any art classes that would teach Rosemaling. I didnβt find anything online, any suggestions or places to call would be greatly appreciated.
For my November theme this year I decided I wanted to learn how to do rosemaling. I'm not a very good painter and I didn't know anything about it before I started, other than the vague idea that it was kind of swoopy / ornate Scandinavian folk art. I foolishly decided I would do one spread for each of my pages for November in a different style of rosemaling (there's lots of regional styles). This meant I had to learn (for a certain definition of the term learn) 9 different styles of rosemaling (i have 9 spreads in my november pages). I am NOT an expert, and these should not be taken as real genuine examples of each art style- just my amateur attempts at homages! <3 Here is my guided tour through this month in my journal.
General info:
Rosemaling is a style of decorative folk art painting native to Norway, which developed in the mid 1700s and flourished until the mid 1800s. It originated with the Baroque and Rococo styles of art/architecture, which made their way north and then took on a life of it's own once painters started to branch off from the Rococo style. Almost every branch of rosemaling features C and S scrolls, the acanthus vine, flowing shapes, flowers / foliage, and sometimes scenes/landscapes. Rosemaling became popular in the lowlands of Norway and has different styles in different regions. (Many more than nine.). Here are some examples of rosemaling, including several master works which I tried to do studies/copies of in my journal: Rosemaling inspo

Telemark - cover page/quote
For this page I copied a masterwork by Ethel Kvalheim. I used gouache paints for all these spreads, and some succeeded better than others. One expert defines telemark style as follows: "The asymmetrical Telemark style is defined by the signature C-scroll which forms the framework from which all other elements in the design grow. This C shaped scroll grows from a root and becomes supported by intertwining C and S shapes which emerge from it. All elements, from the fantasy-like flowers to the elaborate line work and whimsical embellishing detail stem from the root. The flow and movement that are created can be described by words like lyrical, joyful and exuberant." - Andrea Herkert
Halling/ Hallingdal style - Goals/2 main habits
This is my goals / two main trackers of the month. I went with the Hallingdal style for this spread: "The strikin

My first work in the Frozen fandom! Please read and review, I'd love to know what you guys think :)
Hello again! The books you all recommended were well received, thank you.
The next part of my project involves decorating a room represent Norway, and students participate in an activity that represents Norway.
For example, the man doing Japan is recreating a Japanese Tea Ceremony. The woman doing Puerto Rico is teaching everyone salsa dancing.
I'm completely at a loss for what to do to decorate! Here's my train of thought, and I need info and advice on all accounts: 1. "Celebrate May 17!". Need ideas on decoration and typical activities (YouTube led me to a lot of binge drinking, so I'll be grabbing Mead, since I can't find any Norwegian spirits). 2. Rosemaling - it's originally from Norway and students can do some basic movements if I get some paints and such. What I don't have are EXAMPLES (pictures or a building with rosemaling in Norway, pictures of famous landmarks in Norway with Rosemaling, plates, etc.). Anything else you guys can think of (my only restriction is I am in Florida, USA and it's currently 100 degrees Fahrenheit- not even fake snow survives.)
Does anyone have any ideas about where to find a pattern for a rosemaling-style cross stitch? My best friend is getting married in June and I'd love to make him something with a traditional Norwegian design, but I'm not finding much out there and I don't think I could design it myself. Thanks!
I can't find any identifying marks. It's fairly petite, maybe child-sized? It's about 3' tall. It looks hand painted. It's not in great shape, so I doubt it has much value, but I would appreciate any info on when/where it might be from. I'm in the upper midwest, so we have a lot of Scandinavian heritage. Would you call this rosemaling? There is some damage to the top surface, and to the feet. Is there something I could/should do to protect these areas to prevent further damage? Any recommendations on cleaning it up a bit without hurting it? Thank you!
I'm looking for someone in the Twin Cities area (I'm in Eagan) who is good at rosemaling (the scandinavian art form) who can help me on a smaller project.
I inherited a chest from my grandmother, and there is a shelf in it that I'd like to paint the front to say "In Memory Of Mae Styrlund" with some rosemaling. it's 41" x 3".
If you, or someone you know could help me out, that would be wonderful! Thanks so much!
I'm walking through a DigitalTutors course called Introduction to Maya 2015, which involves building a model of a mech. I thought of a custom design and decided I'd try to make an Arendelle-styled mech. :)

Hey everyone,
I'd like to get your thoughts on my Dad's situation. He's a recently retired engineer (and enjoying the lack of pressure). He's a long-term hobbyist woodworker with a well equipped shop. He loves woodworking.
He's made most of the furniture at my parent's place, and much of the furniture for me and my brother.
He's now facing an existential crisis.
For the last year and a bit, the shop has basically sat idle. He's frustrated and more than a little depressed by all this. It seems to come down to the following factors:
