A list of puns related to "Romilly"
Hi all!
I recently discovered the name Romilly and I really like it! I have a few questions though-how is it pronounced? My initial guess is RAHM-illy but now I am wondering if it Rome-illy
My second question: is this traditionally a boyβs name, girls name, or gender neutral?
Thank you!
Just wanted to give the heads up, it has been revealed that MM author Romilly King has at least one (confirmed, by paragraph-to-paragraph comparisons) book that was plagiarizing a fan-fiction. They are an author with very little information about themselves in bios and produce one book a month, so it would not be surprising if there might be other works that are plagiarized, but I cannot claim they have been.
Here is the link with the comparisons. This book has already been reported and taken down from Amazon because the fanfic author contacted them. I would rethink supporting this author with your money - even if you can't/won't read the original fanfic writing, at least drop Kudos/likes because their good writing should be celebrated!
ETA: Two more books have been taken down from Amazon for being plagiarized.
So this might have been asked before, but do you guys think
(based off the rules of time dilation in this movie which might be exaggerated lol)
that Romilly, who was supposedly orbiting the planet while the crew shouldnβt have to wait so long? Isnβt it about proximity to the black hole, not proximity to the surface of the planet? Is it just that he maybe waited 2 or 3 years, a faster clock compared to Earth but not as fast as being on the planet? Or did the ground crew really launch from that far away?
We are struggling greatly to name a girl!
We both like this name but I get the sense my partner would like something more normal. I like names like Clementine/Ottilie. Partner does not appear to like much, but does like Violet.
Any help greatly welcomed- weβve asked before and found to really helpful.
We named our daughter Romilly Zillah. Sadly, she was still orn at 30 weeks due to a major infection.
We are hoping to do another embryo transfer in about a month, so wanting to refresh my list and would love some new ideas!
I prefer names that are rare but not weird. I live in NZ so our charts are a bit different, and only go to #100.
Because she isn't with us, the name doesn't have to 'go' with it 100%, but I would like similar feels.
My current front runners are: Girls - Ariadne, Neroli, Paloma, Thaisa Boys - Rafferty, Sterling, Griffin, Lagden

It would be an infinitely rare opportunity to witness real life live slow motion without the manipulation of frame rates. He would have been able to watch them for literal decades and have them move at a almost imperceptible speed compared to him.
A short scenario that just popped into my head:
Assuming that Endurance and Ranger both had a long-range transmitter/receiver strong enough to reach each other from down on Miller (water planet) and able to communicate in real time, how would Cooper/Brand hear Romilly talking since their clocks run at such different speeds? If he kept talking, would it be super fast gibberish like pressing a fast-forward button?
The easiest answer would probably be "communications" wouldn't work due to Gargantua influence however if we disregard that, it's still an interesting scenario. Despite watching the movie numerous times, the concept of relativity in practice is still mind-blowing to me.
This has probably been discussed before but im new to this subreddit so
When the crew got back from Millerβs planet,Romilly waited at the hatch and said βIt has been 23 yearsβ is this in a literal sense that Romilly himself waited for 23 years? Or is he being cynical and saying βGuys the people on earth waited for 23 years! Why were you wasting time?β. And on what area was the time dillation took effect? Did the Endurance got affected or no?
Just before Dr. Romilly is killed by the booby trap set by Dr. Mann, TARS can be heard yelling, "STEP BACK PROFESSOR, STEP BACK!" because he must be able to sense the impending explosion/hear KIPP saying "please don't". I don't know why, but TARS yelling to try and save the professor always gets to me when I watch Interstellar. Anyone else moved by this scene?
So my husband suggested Romilly to me last night and I think I kind of like it but I donβt know if itβs a bit too out there?
I like the idea of the nickname Romy.
OH really likes Romilly Juliette but Iβm not sure if itβs a bit of a mouthful?
Our other girls names that we really like are Eloise and Ivy.
Naming babies is way harder than I ever thought it would be! I think Iβve just gone over so many names Iβm not sure what I like anymore!
Edit to add pronunciation: Rom-i-lee, like Emily but Romilly
After analyzing the situation a little, I came up with my theory about Tars and his percentage of honesty.
At the beginning of the film we see Cooper asking Tars about his level of honesty and Tars responds that his honesty is in 90% because being totally honest is not always the most diplomatic or the safest thing with sentimental beings.
By this he means that humans are guided by sentimentally, for example the importance we have for certain people or objects.
With this in mind. Later in the movie when the crew arrives at the planet of Dr. Mann, we find out that Mann was a coward for having altered the data of the planet and therefore he destroyed KIPP [his tactical unit] and plant a bomb for the one who tries to access the console.
For bad luck it is the character of Romilly who has to detonate that bomb.
TARS at the time was the one that accompanied Romilly moments before the explosion. Even Tars is the one who seconds earlier, warns him of the explosion. And soon after the explosion, dr. Mann escapes in the ranger.
Meanwhile, Dr. Brand, who had just rescued Cooper, they were back to the base, to pick up Tars and Romilly. When Cooper and brand arrive at the base, you can see tars coming out of the base that had just exploded and then get on the lander, then Tars mentions that Romilly was dead.
Keeping all of the above in mind.
I think Romilly was not dead, possibly agonizing or very hurt.
My reasons.
The journey that Dr. Brand made to the rescue of Cooper at the base of dr. Mann was a little long.
Why was Tars still inside the destroyed base all that time? Possibly checking the state of Romilly, trying to save him.
In that case. Why did not Tars take him out of the base? Possibly he was stuck between some of the artifacts fallen from the base.
Now believing that Romilly remains alive after the explosion and is very hurt and unable to move from his position.
Dr. Brand, Copper and Case on the way to pick up Tars and Romilly.
Tars then thinks that if he tells Copper and Brand that Romilly is still alive (agonizing), that could lead to the possibility that they stop to think if they save him, giving the dr.mann an advantage to reach the Endurance.
Remembering that Tars has in his programming a 90% of honesty for the reason that it is not always the most diplomatic or sure with sentimental beings to be completely honest.
Maybe
... keep reading on reddit β‘All throughout Brockhamptons discography the production has been insane and literally one of a kind. This has got me thinking who would I wanna see on a Romil/Bari beat. First person who comes to my mind is Denzel Curry. Some others would be Syd, JID, Ferg, or Frank Ocean. They can easily make a rappin beat but they also kill making more chill beats. Who would yβall like to see Romil and Bari produce for ?

What do you think of it? What gender do you associate it with? Is it usable?
I recently discovered it via this sub. My tastes tend to be in the recognizable-as-a-real-name-but-Iβve-never-met-one territory so I canβt decide if I actually like Romilly or not.
I'm re watching this movie for the millionth time, and I noticed something pretty cool. I don't know how many years did Romilly waited without sleeping, I'm guessing a lot since he has grey hair on his beard. The Dr Mann comic (Absolute Zero) doesn't state how many years passed for him before making that horrific decision to sent the thumbs up signal, but it sure seems to be less years than Rom.
Anyway, I think it's pretty badass the way Rom handles "seeing another face", like "Hey", and Dr Mann starts sobbing uncontrollably.
Rom is awesome and ends up dying horribly, I felt kinda sad for him.
