A list of puns related to "Romans 5"
The Collapse of Rome is a debasement inflation story indicating how history rhymes. We are seeing the pattern emerging RIGHT NOW IN THE USA, EUROPE & ELSEWHERE.
The graphic below doesn't tell the entire story. The main parallel between Rome and US is as follows. Their ruling class held 99% of the wealth while the 1% or common citizens were distracted with Coliseum Games and kept happy with just enough wheat to make bread. Aka panem et circenses
Today in USA the 1% are satisfied with Celebrity worship, Streaming Netflix / Hulu, Social media (this sub and WSS YouTube ok) Concerts, Stadium Events, i.e. NOTHING HAS CHANGED - SEE BELOW

Canada now leads Russia 1-0. An FAA win vs Medvedev would secure their spot in the finals against Spain. If not then it will be taken to a deciding doubles tiebraker.
The next book we're reading is Romans, an epistle written by Paul to the church in Roman. He hasn't visited them yet and I think this letter was meant to prepare them for his visit. Experts are able to come up with a good estimate for when Paul wrote this letter thanks to Romans 15:17-33 and Acts 20:2-3. Paul probably wrote this while at Corinth between 56 and 58 AD.
The book is known for being systematic and logical, with emphasis on Christian doctrine. It's primary focus is on the salvation offered through Jesus. He starts off outlining that everyone is a sinner and need saving. The Law can't save them from sin (although it still has its place), only Jesus can do that through his atoning death. Those who believe have an assurance of their salvation and are transformed by the good news.
What are your prior experiences with Romans? Is there anything you're looking forward to discussing? Any difficult passages? Favorite passages?
I've been meaning to post this for quite a while (this was originally titled "New Year, New Me, New Coins" to give you an idea of how well my resolutions are going) but instead this will be my inaugural post on r/CoinSales. I've gotten consistently good feedback on it which shall not be named and I hope to continue that trend on this new sub.
In essence, I am purging much of my ancients collection to fund the purchasing of new, more interesting coins. There are some old coins here that I've tried to sell before, to which I have applied deep price reductions. The new coins include some former collection pieces (all very high grade) and some very nice sand-patinated coins found in the Middle East.

#Romans 5:12-21
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinnedβ
13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyoneβs account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did Godβs grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one manβs sin: The judgement followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive Godβs abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
##Discussion and Questions
This section is contrasting Adam's power (bringing sin and death) with Jesus' power (bringing forgiveness and life).
We first start with verse 12 which, along with Romans 3, gives us the idea of "Total Depravity of Man". Total depravity is closely linked to original sin. "Original sin" means that we are all tainted by sin. No one is born sinless. We see that in this verse "all sinned". Total depravity does not mean utter depravity, that every human being is as bad as that person could possibly be. No, it applies even to good and moral atheists. It means that everything we do is tainted with sin. It also means that as a result of the Fall we are not able to love and seek God, nor do we even want to. Our natural inclination is to reject God and

In the previous chapters Paul began by discussion the sinfulness of humanity, and Godβs response to it in sending His son to save us. Chapter four emphasized that salvation is not through the law, but through faith. It held up Abraham as the quintessential example of faith, as the obstacles to his faith were reviewed.
In todayβs reading, Paul begins to examine the results of that salvation, both immediate and hoped for.
>Peace with God Through Faith
>
>5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because Godβs love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
>
>6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous personβthough perhaps for a good person one would dare even to dieβ 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
The first result that Paul brings up in verse 1 is that we have βpeace with God.β Objectively, what does it mean that we have peace with God. How does having peace with God affect your life personally?
Having peace with God does not guaranteed a life without struggle; in verse 3 Paul says that we will have sufferings and that we are to rejoice in them, because they will lead to good things in those who are justified, who have peace with God. Do you find yourself rejoicing in sufferings? Have you seen this cycle (Suffering -> endurance -> character -> hope) in your life?
In verse 6 we are told that Christ died for the ungodly βat the right time.β What time is
I must admit that Iβm not a convinced universalist, but Romans 5 is throwing me for a loop. I donβt see how this can be interpreted as anything but universalist. Has anyone been offered infernalist interpretations of Romans 5?
