>The Republican National Committee (RNC) is taking aim at the organization that for more than three decades has hosted and produced the presidential and vice presidential general election debates.
>In a letter from the RNC to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) that Fox News obtained on Thursday, the committee said that it will require its presidential candidates running in the 2024 election cycle to pledge not to participate in debates run by the CPD.
>If the RNC follows through with their pledge, it could likely lead to a massive shift in how presidential and vice presidential general election debates are conducted.
>The RNCβs letter, which was first reported by the New York Times, was fueled by longstanding complaints from then-President Donald Trump and GOP officials over how the 2020 presidential debates were conducted. And the letter was sent after months of talks between the RNC and the commission.
...
>The move by the RNC requiring Republican presidential candidates to refuse to take part in CPD debates is expected to be voted on by committee members when the RNC holds its winter meeting early next month in Salt Lake City, Utah.
To put it bluntly, I feel like the DNC keeps fucking everything up (cough cough 2016), and backing Tom Perez and Beto O'Rourke as governor candidates is the final straw. Just by looking at party registration numbers and people's opinions on policy positions, we should be winning easily. Instead, the DNC keeps fucking a lot of shit up, from funding Amy McGrath in 2020 to constantly pissing off progressives (cough cough 2016 Primaries and what they did to Ben Jealous) to making the strategy Trump bad (he is) when Biden is unpopular to not responding to the GOP's attempts to court some voters through issues like education.
So, do you believe that the DNC is incompetent compared to the RNC? And if you believe so, what do you think we (or the DNC) could do to make the DNC competent.
Iβve heard people say tucking the chin isnβt a proper defense but are you actually just supposed to put your arm over their jaw or what do you do?
Seems city officials are courting the RNC to come to town for 2024. Trying to make this ... non political.... but it strikes me that any city that hosts the RNC in 2024 is asking for trouble. Regardless of the moral aspect of hosting the GOP in its current state, it seems to me the shit show that is likely to surround it may be the last thing any city would want.
What's the role of integrity (party), good faith, conviction, position, ideas, debate? Traditionally speaking. Is it a winnable strategy? Is it disheartening, boring, frustrating, valid? Is obstruction, contrarianism the future of politics?
*I gladly concede at least a version of this question concerning the DNC as functionally representative of the left is equally valid but this is ask conservatives so I thought I'd ask.
A day or 2 before New Year's a dude slapped an RNC on me which he had more with his forearm straight across my throat than a blood choke on the sides, I escaped but not before he was grinding on my Adams Apple for about 5-10 seconds. A day or 2 later I had a sore throat, took a bunch of vitamin C and some other cold meds, been doing that and over a week later it's still sore. It's not covid (I had it less than 3 months ago but just to be safe used an at home test and it came up negative) and I thought it was some other random type of bug at first but I don't have any other symptoms, plus I can count on one hand the number of times I've been sick in my life and it hasn't gone away in 2-3 days with a ton of vitamin C and sleep. The sore throat is getting better but very slowly and gradually (right now it's fine most of the time but flares up when I eat something spicy or acidic or if I have to talk a lot).
Am I totally off base for thinking it might be some sort of minor physical injury caused by the RNC attempt and just needs time to heal? Has this happened to anyone else? Haven't trained since it happened thinking I might have been sick but if if it's just something caused by the RNC that would explain why I don't have any other symptoms as well as why it seems to be healing steadily but very slowly, it would also mean I can train safely (maybe just tap extra quick to neck attacks). Only thing is it isn't painful when I press on my throat from the outside which I would expect to be the case in that event. Internet BJJ people, I come to you for medical advice.
