A list of puns related to "Ribbon Microphone"
I have 4 vintage microphones still in the original packaging. Reslo Celeste-RBH/WS, English Ribbon Microphones from the 60's. The boxes still have a paper seal around them. I would love to sell them, but I don't want to open the boxes. I saw one at reverb.com for $495.00. My question is, what are these worth still in the box, unopened? https://imgur.com/0sIJu4W https://imgur.com/1YLyK6t
Hey everyone!
Looking into SRE RV1 ribbon mics for my studio. (Stereo room mics)
just wondering if there's any other options worth looking into before I bite the bullet.. I can't really afford to drop $4k, so mid level budget?
Thanks everyone!
Hey guys, I just recently finished constructing my first Ribbon microphone. I ended up designing the mic myself but found this old BBC document online that helped quite a bit and enlightened me on some topics concerning the mic that I otherwise would have overlooked.

I thought my first mic would be pretty garbage and would serve more as the first of many, but I've already found it to be quite the useful tool in the studio for recording percussion and even in front of the bass drum (with a pop filter in front of it of course).
The specs on my mic were:
ribbon length: 2"
ribbon width: 0.22"
Transformer used: Lundhall LL2912
I think my ribbon may have been tensioned a little too loose so it has quite a hyped low end and not as accurate of a high end as i would like. I'm going to make another mic in the future and hopefully iron out some of the problems I found in the original.
I would love to hear about anybody else's experiences in making their own ribbon mics. Also what do people think of the cinemag CM9888 transformer for ribbon mics? I'm thinking about using that as my transformer in the my next mic.
Does anyone know where I can find this to buy ?
Hey all,
For the last 3 years i've been making ribbon microphones... refining the design and slowly building a small business as i've sold quite a few now.
I've made my share of music throughout my teens/20's, playing/writing/recording and releasing all my own stuff, but now my passion has shifted to making these mics as good as I possibly can and hopefully making a living from it in the process.
Just thought id share this here as it shows my little recording setup and demo's the mics too. Guitar and vocals are through my mics, the rest was done "in the box".
Thanks heaps for checking it out!

The ribbon cable in the built-in microphone has been cut. Help Me...
Hey guys, this is my first post in this community to discuss about a custom ribbon microphone. So Iβm planning to build my very own ribbon microphone from scratch, with household items and recycling materials. This is going to be dirt cheap but yet itβs going to have a very nice quality microphone that sounds expensive. I pretty much got the materials i need.
Any of you guys/girls you would like to ask or discuss about it, feel free to comment ππ
Both were used for one recording session and put into storage. The combo recorded brass + strings absolutely incredibly, fwiw.
Near mint condition on both items. Arrow does not include a thunderbolt cable. Mic comes with shock mount + hard case.
Asking $310 + s/h for the UA Arrow interface
SOLD Asking $120 + s/h for the Sterling ST170 Ribbon Condenser Microphone
Will offer a slight discount if purchasing both.
I have an old Altec 639B ribbon mic with some slight damage to two of the bars on its frame. No idea if it works or what itβs worth. Anybody know anything about it? Altec639B
