A list of puns related to "Quern"
cause Ive been grinding bread since circa 9000-7000bc
Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask; if so I would appreciate redirecting! Not sure where else to go. :)
I've played Myst Exile and Riven on my computer just fine and was looking into purchasing Quern. I noticed on the game specs that it might require a dedicated GPU? My computer is a 2020 MacBook Pro with 16Gb of RAM and the i5 quad-core processor, but the graphics card is integrated: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB.
Was wondering whether anyone more tech-savvy than me could advise me on whether the game would be playable on my machine, or whether I should wait till a later point in time. Would be super grateful for some help!
I'm now addicted to the crack that is puzzle games, and I need my fix bad.
Iβve started Quern twice and put it down at the exact same spot twice. Iβd like to know if itβs worth trying again.
The first thing that bothers me about the game is that they rob you of any sense of agency at the very, very start. The first thing you pick up is a letter that basically says βI have kidnapped you and put you here to solve some puzzles. Once you solve them you will have to decide whether to trust me. By the way, I am almost certainly malevolent.β
So okay, weβre in a second-rate Jβnanin, probably built by Saavedro instead of Atrus. Iβll play along for a while.
The first puzzle is a locked door whose combination is split between two pieces of paper.
The second puzzle is a door whose lock is a frigging sliding block puzzle.
Behind that door you learn about the crystals that show invisible ink. You quickly find a code of random symbols. You also find a keyboard with symbols like the ones in the code, but not the same symbols. Clearly there are different symbols written on the keys in invisible ink, and there are many crystals I could easily bring from that side of the room to this side to see them if this were reality, but I canβt because the game doesnβt let me pick them up.
From here I wander aimlessly for a bit before quitting out of grumpiness.
I want to play Mysty things on my new PC, and this seems the most obvious contender, but Iβm not sure itβs going to work for me. Given my attitude expressed above, am I likely to find anything to change it if I start again and push through this part?
Hey y'all, i was wondering if anyone has made some sort of automatic quern addon for tfc, possibly rf powered. Specifically im looking for 1.7.10, but if someone knows of a 1.12 addon that does this feel free to let me know.
Already finished but didnβt like The Witness. Already finished and liked The Talos Principle, The Turing Test, and others.
EDIT: Sorry, should probably have used the Games - Advanced flair, didnβt know about it.
I have no interest in CSGO/TF2 keys or selling games via PayPal. Willing to trade multiples for games I want, just make an offer! Please don't DM me or start an instant chat until we've agreed a trade in this thread first.
All games are now provided as keys, I will not provide gift links any longer.
Any region locked games will be locked to EU.
Haves:
Fair enough it wasn't in Em City, however when Mondo is killed in the kitchen he says he's still a resident of Em City. So why wasn't he livid about the cop?
Wow, what a ride. This is, hands down, one of THE best adventure games I've ever played. The story is good, there's a nice sense of mystery and discovery, the acting is good, and the puzzles are amazing. Each new room is a new place to explore, to push some buttons and see how the different puzzles react.
I did have to use a walkthrough and some external sites on a few occasions (I really don't like Mastermind-type puzzles), but most of the puzzles are just right: you need a few minutes to get the hang of it, but when you do, you feel awesome.
I've played my fair share of Myst-like games, but this one really clicked with me. On top of that, the environments and the music are top notch.
For a game made by, basically, four students, this is a real treasure :)
Seeing as this is the Myst subreddit I figure almost all of you have played through the Myst games. If you're looking for something to scratch that itch, and haven't tried Quern, now is your chance. It is extremely cheap right now, down 75%.
It is essentially my favorite fan-game ever made with a ton of puzzles, well crafted environments, and even a story I'd consider somewhat inspired by the kinds of stories you'd see in Myst (Determining if the person who's guiding you is worth helping).
It wears its influences prominently (the kickstarter description of the name mentiones Myst by name), and though I do see it mentioned sometimes in conversations about "what to play next", I feel like it is criminally underrated.
If you're wondering what I get out of this, the answer is twofold: First, I'm always looking for more people to play this game as it gives me more people to talk with about something I love. Second, the more of this genre of game that are both good and popular, the higher the chances of more good ones being made.
If any of this sounds good to you, please check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/512790/Quern__Undying_Thoughts/
That was a fun ride! Enjoyed it a bit more than Obduction, IMO.
So, hope this is okay to ask here - I couldn't find a subreddit for Quern and I do have a small question specifically about it, but I imagine many subscribers in this sub have played it.
That said, I threw in the recommendation request to keep it on topic. So please throw those out there. And yes I've played the Witness as well as well as the Room and Da Vinci House. This pandemic has me binging hard.
But anyway my question is as follows. After beating the game I looked at all the achievements and Easter Eggs I missed, which did answer a lot of loose ends for things I didn't know what their function was - except for one.
In the top of the Mechanics room, where the lighthouse controls are and the six lenses to match the receivers, there's a vertical lever switch on the right with three positions. That lever didn't seem to have a function as far as I know, I solved the puzzles there without having any idea what it was doing, I did randomly move it occasionally but it didn't seem to have any effect. The walkthroughs I checked don't mention it either when in that part. Is it a random red herring?
Also in that same room there's some paper charts on the wall with three numbers on it, denoted by roman numerals I-III. I don't remember what the three numbers were, but you'd think something very specific like that would be important that you'd need to use somewhere. Never ended up using it nor did I see mention in the walkthrough. Also a random red herring?
And of course... throw out more recommendations!
quern
noun: A stone hand-mill for grinding grain.
noun: A hand-mill used for grinding pepper, mustard, and the like. Such querns were used even on the table, and as early as the sixteenth century.
verb: To grind.
Word of the day Provided by : wordnik
Man that storyline is funny. Querns being fired for having 2 deaths vs. McManis' body count. Both are pretty bad at their job and the only difference in the drugs and sex was adebisi having a tape. McManis didnt even have it under control when he was there either.
I've played Talos Principle, Quern, Myst and its sequels, and The Room.
I wasn't a huge fan of The Room. Talos Principle, Quern, and the Portal games are probably my favorites.
What other games like these exist? Anything cheap and/or not on Steam?
Zachtronics games are neat but I'm a software developer by trade and sometimes they feel too much like I'm doing my job.
Iβm keen for more games like this that are dripping with atmosphere, are focussed on exploration and require you to solve a series of unique puzzles. e.g. while I loved the Talos Principal, it just felt a bit repetitive after a while with all of the puzzles being based on re-used objects.
Hi! As in the title I am now trying to make a quern base on 1.12.2 version. On wiki it says that I have to use smooth stone but it always gives me smooth stone slabs. Maybe I am using wrong rocks (rocksalt)? I need help, please. Thanks in advance
