Anyone know whether the damned flower and piece of my heart have been discontinued? I can’t find them on the site and they were on my “to try” list.

Almost exactly a year ago I discovered Possets and had no idea that they were doing seasonal samples through Ajevie! I'm in love with the sound of so many and want to make sure I narrow down to some real winners this time around and don't miss out on a house that has done me so well. Here's what I have right now:

• Virginia Oldoini: A fabulous Blue Lilac accord with a touch of white hawthorne, and three white musks.
• Evita Peron: We start off with a very strong and assertive Egyptian musk, followed by a very unusual leather component which conjures up the scent of violets (!). This is accompanied by a dry white amber, and a kiss of ginger.
• JFK and Jackie: A snap of the finest leather, a bit of oakmoss, combined with tabac blonde essence, a whiff of tea, and the warmth of silk.
• Candybox Pretty: Very enjoyable sweet white flowers combined with something I call ""champagne musk"" and carrying a grounding lemon and CANDLEWAX for the background. I chose gardenia and tuberose to carry the floral-sweet of this blend.
• Billet-Doux: The scent of paper with a bit of perfume still lingering in it, a slight zest of the ink while it is still wet, a great deal of melting musk.

I'm a big fan of Wings of an Angel, Seraphim, Dominions, Dance with Me, and Silver Violets. I am unfortunately wary of what I know to be a popular Possets version of rose, but am open to anything with rose that is sufficiently transformed from the version in my sample of My Love is a Red Red Rose. (Candied rose especially seems to be great on me).

So! What do you think of my choices? Is there anything else you'd recommend? Is there anything even nothing like these scents from the Valentines Retour that you wanna scream to the heavens about? I wanna know!

Hi all! Been quite a while since I've posted here, and I've added several new things as I try to get my act together for the new year. Logistical stuff:

• Shipping is $4.00, first class, Paypal G&S.
• Fragrance samples are all the usual "slink" size (so probably ~.8ml when full) unless otherwise noted. I try to price in accordance with retail value and fill level, but sometimes the label placement makes it hard to see how much oil is left; generally speaking, anything I got in a swap is at least 2/3 full, and anything I purchased directly is at least 3/4 full.
• Pending items are marked as such.
• No one in my household has had Covid-19 (and we're vaccinated & boosted), but I wipe everything down prior to shipping out of an abundance of caution.
• I have three cats, who aren't allowed into the room where I keep perfume and makeup. However, I can't promise that no fur manages to sneak its way in :/

So I was totally blown away by my exchange partner’s (u/mirimaru77) generosity and attention to detail! I’ve thanked them with the complete list in a different thread but I was gifted with soooo many amazing scents (and extra treats)that I likely would’ve never tried on my own. Below are my impressions with some bonus poesie samples I received recently.

Alkemia-Silken Tent

Notes: (Candied angelica, chrysanthemums, white flowering Nardo, clove flowers, jasmine-scented rice pudding, blonde caramel, infused with golden amber)

Impression: a floraly, clean, creamy, mellow vanilla with extra umph. Not too strong at all, just right. I see comparisons to this and Poesie’s Madar. I don’t feel they are too similar but I think if you like madar, you’d like this (silken tent leans more floraly)

Alkemia - foxcroft fairgrounds

Description: Cotton Candy, Cream Soda, Vanilla Taffy, Gridling's Funnel Cakes, Powdered Sugar, Crisp Fall Air, Woodsmoke, and a Tendril of Incense.

Impression: lol so I think I wrote to my exchange partner that I really wanted to try this one bc I feel it is SO hyped up. Buttery, warm, cozy vanilla with maybe a hint of red hots candy? The incense is a lot more present on dry down. Very strong and Perfect for fall and a total fairgrounds feel. I understand the hype and would love this in a candle format.

Alkemia - Mon beau sapin

Description: Fresh cut pine, labdanum incense, oakmoss, and rosewood adorned with tart dried apples, Mandarin orange peel, coriander, caraway, woodsmoked figs, Date plums, and a touch of dark aged patchouli

Impression: I would’ve been too intimidated to try this on my but I love it! Herbal and a mulled fall orange cider. Clears my nasal passages without feeling too strong lol. If you want fall feels without gourmand, go for this. Very unisex

Alkemia - Salome

Description: nubile black grapes and plums, skin musk bathed in spilled cognac, and ruthless twist of bitter orange, blended with an ancient Arabian love philtre of crushed vanilla and tonka bean, mysore sandalwood, vetiver, cedar, and red oud.

Impression: very sexy. Dark, spicy fruity, and smooth. Not too intimidating and reminded me of some of the possets scents below.

Description: animal crackers, warm milk, cashmere blankets, white amber.

Impression: try this out if you’re into vanillas that lean more skin like. Kinda similar to silken tent but not as floral and slightly more v

Hi! Hoping to scrounge up some extra Christmas money, so putting up some of my scents that haven't been getting as much love this year. Open to bundle deals.

Snow Witch: Hinterland $5 (Far afield from her home this is where a witch harvests her spell supplies. Wild woodland roses, loamy forest floor, wild-gathered green mosses, and golden vetiver.)

Ganesh: $16 (A large, joyous snoutful of coconut cake is snugly wrapped in honey, vanilla, Indonesian clove, green coconut, and a warm blend of spices.)

This Is Not Canada: $20 (Sweet, jammy Canadian fir absolute and wildcrafted Canadian black spruce, suffused by three golden ambers.)

Hermes: $14 (Ripe apricots dipped in sugar, warm patchouli, ylang ylang, vanilla bean, neroli, dandelion honey, gasoline, wild jasmine, yellow roses, fast-beating wings, and motor oil.)

Les Cannes de Joie: $10 (A mashup of Fille de Joie (delicate lavender marshmallows and yellow peaches cured in a vanilla absolute bottle) and Candy Cane (wild-harvested sweet peppermint with French vanilla extract and a hint of bright white musk)).

Ghosting: $18 (The refined, elegant essence of chilled champagne, sparkling mineral water, white coconut, and soft, creamy gardenia petals.)

The Female Soul of Night: $16 (This is all soft edged, animalic muskiness, civety veils, floral hallucinations of jasmine, and wet longing night.)

Buckle up, it's the Big One.

If you had asked me a year ago which house I had the most of, I would say BPAL or Deep Midnight but now it's Possets, by far. I'm not sure what it is that captured me about this house but I always enjoy trying new things from them. So what is a Possets party like? I don't know why, but I feel like there would be a lot of art teachers and people who wear hiking sandals with every outfit at this party. The host has many cats wandering around, or maybe the cats themselves were on the guest list. There is DEFINITELY a charcuterie board and no shortage of delicious snacks and wine of course.

I've talked about a few of these in past reviews, so instead of rehashing my thoughts I'll link to that review and say whether or not I feel the same.

Sterling Swizzle Stick - A bitter amber plays the champagne role along with a tot of vanilla of the more dry variety, muhuhu adds a definite metallic tang and it's all finished off with the pink in pink champagne (the lees of the grapes) - I've collected a ton of old Possets bottles and none of them seemed off in any way, but I can't help but wonder if this one has gone bad. It smells like an old house that was abandoned during construction. I see on the Possets forum that it had a buttery vanilla opening, but I'm mostly getting the popsicle stick that is mentioned on the drydown. The label says 2015, so maybe some components have just faded away with age. After it's completely dry, I do actually smell some vanilla that reminds me of Lady and a Baby Unicorn. (Spring Retour)

Morgan Le Fey - Dark and richly incense-filled, heavy with spice and not tame, Morgan le Fey is the most unusual of the Possets' Arthur Collection and supremely attractive. Flowers meet patchouli and collide with spices - Hmm, spiced coffee? Definitely strong clove. I don't really get a ton of patchouli or anything floral, it's just a dark, spicy clove scent. It smells like a bundle of fragrant herbs hung up on a witch's door, one of those scents that I wouldn't mind smelling in my home but not necessarily on myself. After a while, it starts smelling like something I would use to dry rub brisket with. (Permanent Catalog)

Abraxas - Honey offerings, incense smoke from great pots of smudging resins - I look at the honey note in this and I'm afraid. But really, this is so so wonderful. It's so thick and boozy, and actually reminds me of wine or something. I can't say it re

Before I spend my precious $$ on scents I might not like, I wanted to get your thoughts on a few Possets scents! These are the ones I'm looking at:

I really don't want anything powdery. I have Hedone from Hexennacht and so far that one is a bit powdery on the skin (if someone could tell me if that's the honey or the red musk, that'd be v helpful). I also have Spectre, Santal Vanille and Apparition from them. They probably need more resting, but these three smell pretty similar. A nice vanilla scent but I want something maybe deeper or more woody but not masculine.

Possets is one of the houses I have great luck with. I know folks don't like how the web site is set up but I can deal with it because of the love I have for the scents.

Possets manages it's back catalog well with it's seasonal Retours and Orphans. Collections stay up for 3 months or so, and come back around annually so that reduces the FOMO for me.

So, I've been waiting for their Fall Retour to land, and it did today!!

I picked out 5 scents (a limit I set before I visited the site.)

Bat Fur Cloak (Reformulated) -This is a comforting somewhat perfumy blend with delicate fruits and a shot of some sweet and rich treat. Unusual, unisex and really compelling. Foody/gourmand.

Gingerwitch - Dark cake gingerbread and almond, deep juvenile musk and heady invitations.

Jurogumo (Japanese Spider Demon) - A powerful vanilla musk the likes of the one used in Dance With Me (VERY seductive yet subtle and cloud-like), and rich cardamom,and finally the nectar of peaches squeezed in the summer sun and concentrated to make a sugary peach liquor.

Lumps of Delight - Pellucid blocks of frosted yielding goodness, something which sticks in your teeth and you don't want to get rid of it. Slightly rosy, or is that lemony? It doesn't matter. This candy is like a swoon.

Psychopumpkin - This is pumpkin, slathered in spice and encrusted with sugar. This is pumpkin in its glory, thick and deep, tumbling in honey and caramel. Foody and wicked.

Anyone else going to take the plunge and grab some Fall scents from Possets or decants from Ajevies?

DISO: Possets OAR kitty scents (check ISO tab for details), ZOMG Smells Pyment

I adore Possets and have a very high hit rate with this house and thought I'd treat myself to a few Fall Retour scents, but I missed the chance to order decants from Ajevie. I'm interested in these scents, any info would be helpful:

Black Hole (Vetiver and black pepper, lavender and earth, a "black" patchouli, a slight slight slight bit of tarragon) - I love lavender and vetiver as notes, black pepper, patch, and Possets' earth note can go either way. I'm just really curious how they all come together in this and if it reads as dark and mysterious (yes) or a bit "mainstreamy masc" (no thanks).

Dance of the Heretics (Slightly smoky, rich, and redolent. Seductive and smooth but surprisingly familiar and innocent. Five ambers, crystal skin musk, a very small amount of white pepper, and incense) - First off, I love the name and that carries a bit of weight. I'd be super curious to hear how this compares to Arcana's Haint (or and of the Haint-y Craves). Personally, I find Haint a bit intense and shrill and would love something similar but a little mellower.

She Who Presides Over Gardens (Chlorophyll like fragrance, an accord which smells a lot like the exhalations of leaves in a hot house, distant flowers just the hint of them and not a floral composition at all. A brush of earth and the trance of humidity. An earthy smell in a very green way) - I desperately want something that smells exactly like a greenhouse. Could this be it?

I'm new to the indie perfume community and had only tried Alkemia fragrances up until recently. However, I recently got a few packages in from a variety of houses so I'm going to do a little first impressions/reviews.

For the record, I lean toward feminine scents that are sweet but not overly gourmand.

Alkemia:

Silken Tent: Candied angelica, Chrysanthemum, Nardo, Jasmine-scented rice pudding, Blonde caramel, Golden amber

Review: I was recommended this multiple times after posting about my love of Alkemia's Ghost Fire, but unfortunately, this scent didn't wow me. In my opinion, Alkemia scents tend to be quite strong even in the sample bottles, but for some reason, I can barely smell Silken Tent. It definitely is not bad by any means, but I'm only able to get a vague sweet floral even after resting it for a few weeks. I did wear this once all day and found that it eventually turned kind of sour on my skin, which is sad because I really wanted to love this. 2 out 5 Stars

Salome: oriental florals, cognac, dark plum, vanilla, botanical pheromones, and red oud

Review: The oud is quite strong in this one. This is kind of an odd scent (not stereotypically perfumey) and definitely not something I would wear, but I don't hate it. It's just not me. Overall, this one smells very herbaceous, like the type of herb you might put on top of some focaccia or in some kind of tincture. There's a certain dark, witchiness to this. 2.5 out 5 Stars

Femme Sauvage: Wild blackberries, Sensual Musk, Dark patchouli, Warm ambers

Review: Unfortunately, the blackberry note smells really fake-- much more like grape medicine than blackberry. This gets a little better after being on the skin for a while and the fake blackberry fades into the background while the patchouli and musk take over, but still pretty disappointing. :( 1.5 out of 5 Stars

Nui Cobalt:

Little Brown Rabbit: Nutmeg and tonka bean nuzzle up against fluffy marshmallow, cotton flower, pink pepper, and a trace of carrot seed.

Review: I really like this! This smells mostly like a warm bowl of maple syrup and brown sugar oatmeal. I definitely get the carrot seed note after the dry down, which overall transforms the scent into a very realistic carrot cake. Compared to Alkemia, the Nui Cobalt scents are much lighter and have less throw, which is a little disappointing. However, I still really enjoy this scent and can still smell it after around 3 hours. 4 out of 5 Stars
