“It’s been a while since we’ve spent a night together like this. I was worried you might fall for that new fox on the base,” Arizona confided to Thorson, head on his chest as rays of early morning sunlight filtered in past the wooden shutters of his window.

“She’s certainly a forward woman,” he agreed, running his fingers through her hair. “But I think the display was just as much for her own faction as ours. Calling the Sakura fragmented would be an understatement.”

“I saw the way she was looking at you, but I’d rather not spend these moments talking about her or her sisters,” Arizona decided, stretching before rolling out of bed and opening the window. Thorson didn’t miss the opportunity to take in the view, and she lingered there awhile to let him, feeling the warm breeze on her naked skin. A flurry of activity was already underway down at the docks on account of Captain Stevens’ arrival, along with his convoy fleet. Pacific High Command was no doubt close behind. “I’d rather spend it with you.”

“Ok,” he agreed simply, coming to stand behind her. She sighed happily as his hands traveled over her chest on their way to her navel and hips. “A bit longer.”

“Thank you, Andrew.”

“And we are needing eastern wood, not all of this pine and mahogany, nyaa!” Akashi insisted as she, Brooklyn, and Captain Stevens’ walked along the docks. The minty kitty was particular as ever with her requests, but Stevens was used to it by now.

“Tell you what, little missy. When I’ve confirmed that my boys won’t be sunk on the way to the East Indies, you’ll get your oriental goods. Way I understand it, it’s only you girls who have surrendered, not the Empire.”

“Akashi is a mature woman, nyaa!” she pouted, earning a tittering laugh from Brooklyn. Stevens was spared having to comment one way or another by Thorson’s arrival, the two men saluting one another before Brooklyn presented him with a summary of the shipping manifest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

It finally happened!! After ten years together and two years engaged (thanks covid), our wedding day has finally come and gone. There was an unexpected amount of family drama when we decided to enact covid precautions (namely a vaccine requirement) as well as the stress of postponing our original fall 2020 date, but in the end it was worth every sleepless night of planning. I hope my recap can help a fellow wedditors as they prepare for their big days! I've tried to estimate the costs as best I could but with how random family kept stepping in to help with expenses and how long the planning was (two years) some costs are a little fuzzy.

Breakdown

Venue and Food: Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH ($11,330 for 75 guests + $500 for extra late night hour)

I would encourage anyone and everyone who has ever thought about a mountaintop wedding in New England to check out Loon. We had looked at half a dozen venues; from historic homes to sprawling estates to farms and public parks. We knew we wanted something romantic, nature-forward, and beautiful. On a whim my partner suggested this ski resort his father used to take him and his brothers to when they were young. We drove a few hours north from Boston and while I'd never even considered a ski resort as a venue, I fell instantly in love. It was the gondolas. You ride fifteen minutes up the mountain in a quiet gondola, nestled in the beautiful foliage, before getting to the awe-inspiring summit looking out over the entire White Mountain range. We both knew we'd found our spot. When we sat down to review their packages we were floored at how relatively inexpensive it was - no venue fees, just a price per plate for their in-house catering with options from $100-150 pp! It included private use of their beautiful lodge for the reception, a day-of (really month-of) coordinator, food, appetizers, servers, a full bar, set up and break down, and the mountaintop ceremony. Of course, this was all pre-covid. We'd planned on an event of about 100 people on a Sunday (to save money) for the fall of 2020. When covid hit, we decided fairly early to pull the trigger and postpone a full year. The folks at Loon were unbelievably accommodating. They let us choose any date in 2021 and didn't charge us a penny to postpone - in fact, they let us UPGRADE to a Saturday at the Sunday price. They gr
