A list of puns related to "Pectus"
Pozdrav susjedi,
Hvala svima, poz
For those who were not around last time I showed up:
Academic pediatric surgeon Busy group with about 50-60 pectus cases per year All patients get cryo, including Ravitch Average length of stay 1.5 days No PCA requirement, 3 days (12 pills) given on discharged, usually not finished Max age 25, no max Haller Also do combo with cardiac or chest wall procedures
Currently at a conference where one of the partners is presenting our data re: cryoablation for patients getting the Nuss procedure. It has been a while since I've been able to post on here, so I figured I'd check in and see if there are any new questions out there. Will answer as soon as I'm able.
Pediatricians basically say that heβll most likely have no health issues, and itβs cosmetic. But reading stories here, it seems that people can have health issues despite doctors saying it wonβt. Also, anything did people face self esteem issues?
TL;DR what should I do or not do to help him be healthy and happy!
I took a cat with contrast yesterday of my lungs to rule out blood clot due to Covid and the radiologist noted Iβve pectus excavatum with a baller index of 5.5. I am 31 female and donβt have respiratory issues. I just have occasional pvc if I bend down or lay on my left side. The report doesnβt mention if it is compressing my heart except it is influencing my heart chamber. I am really worried my AP dimension is 4 CM. I am scared it is going to cause heart failure or if it is too late to fix it. The ER doctor did not mention anything.
I am pre-hrt and have been losing weight recently and found out that I have a Pectus Carinatum... the tip of my sternum and my bottom two ribs stick out noticeably.
And because it's normally a childhood-treated thing, and (as far as I can tell) more prevalent in boys.... almost all resources I can find are for parents of teenage boys with the condition. The only thing I was able to find was through Google and it was one person whose breasts were growing out diagonally apart and it was making them feel more dysphoric than just not even having breasts and it left me spooked and anxious.
So I dunno if asking here will do me any good or not, but I wanted to know if any transfems and/or transgirls here had experience with the condition and could give me any insight on whether it would have any significant affect on breast growth... like... making them look weird or something?
I dunno. I'm worried and I don't want a untreated deformity to just make my dysphoria worse in the end, so I wanted to see if anyone else had dealt with this sort of thing.
I have pectus excavatum. Every few months I get a PVC or two, nothing crazy until recently. My chest usually hurts from getting excited or mad over things.
The other day I went to the hospital for constant PVCs, and a very high resting heart rate of 140-150 bpm.
The doctor put me on metoprolol 50mg twice a day
My heart rate has been better but still get a few PVCs.
I'm quite scared that it will kill me. I have horrible anxiety. The random PVCs are scary. I'm aware that others have it much worse though.
I'm seeing a cardiologist on Monday, so hopefully they will find what's wrong and help me
Does anyone else have this condition? Just curious, thank you.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if the VB would still be effective for this type of Pectus that is longer and higher up on the chest?
If so, I have no idea what size and shape of VB to buy as I wouldn't be putting it in the normal spot. Would I have trouble getting it to suction?
Thanks,
Gabe
While there are a lot of physical and mental problems with pectus we shouldnβt ignore the good ones! One of which is that the majority of us are tall! I have never met someone with pectus who is below 6 feet. I am 6β4 (193cm) and my friend is 6β8 (202cm) and we both have pectus! And I definitely donβt have the genes for being tall since my parents are of very average height. I know it might be because some, including myself have small indications of Marfan syndrome and those with Marfan are usually tall and skinny. Whatβs the science behind this? I think this is very interesting but I donβt really have a scientific answer.
How tall are you guys?
Okay probably found my Cup and Band size... but something I have an issue with is my round 3 cm deep pectus excavatum. Any suggestions for bra types to try with that?
Of course I am going to try things on and see what fits but any types you would suggest?
I wanted to know if it's obvious?
My breasts are real, so they cover it up a bit but have also been the reason this issue has been concealed for so long (never really noticed it in my youth). I'm pretty sad about it, though relieved I finally know why I am short of breath at times for no apparent reason. My lung and heart function have been tested, and there are no pathologies, just a bit of "restrictive pulmonary function" due to PE. Are there any women out there who know what conservative treatments are available to help?!

I've had a ribcage deformity my whole life, and I brought it up with my dr because I've been having a lot of pain and fatigue. She doesn't really know much about pectus, so she sent me for Xrays, chest xrays from two different views. Can this actually diagnose pectus? I think I would only be able to see a specialist if the xrays show anything, I don't think she would order a CT or anything since she doesn't know much about it. I know you need CT to get your index and severity determined, but I am hoping xrays could at least get me a diagnosis for a referral.
I am a girl if that affects anything.
(I would just switch docs, but I just switched docs to her after my old primary said pectus is only cosmetic and really only affects boys)
Are there any women who are affected by funnel chest and rib flare like me, so you also don't like to wear a bra because I'm not well developed.
I have this problem, but not so much money, no courage surgery. Sometimes I will wear a Waistband and hope to correct it.
I wear this type, and there is another type of posture correction. https://shopee.ph/Hot-Shapers-Adjustable-Waistband-Hot-Belt-Power-i.50113697.1556679134
We're interested in Pectus Up/Taulinoplasty procedure, but hard to find anyone who's had it done. Anyone have this done? Would love to know everything.
So When i was around 2 or 3 years old, I was diagnosed with pectus excavatum, as I grew older ive been noticing that my right sternum is different, its higher than the other one, while the one on left is normal ( i think) I have the pectus excavatum rib flare but i dont have that hole in the chest anymore, when i try to push my right sternum inside so its the same height as the other, that same hole appears again, even deeper. Im 15 and Im having a bad time, for the last 5 years i would never take my shirt off, when i was going to a swimming pool ( not by my choice) i would always cover my chest. I love calisthenics and working out but it makes no sense doing it when youre still gonna look like a freak. Im looking for a way to fix this without a surgery, does anyone know if i can do something about it?
But I won't...
At least, I know I won't.
I've put it off since forever and I'll put it off again.
But in the meantime, there's probably like 70-1000 other me's out there (people having similar situations) suffering immensely because they didn't have just a small detail right to help them.
Guys I just wanna say it outloud raw here because that's as good as I can get myself to do I think to help those me's out there.
Coronary Artery Spasm.
This thing sucks and it happens to me all the time because of my pectus, didn't start happening until my later years though 23-32 progressively worse, worse with smoking and other things (caffeine, etc) I thankfully quit long ago.
Took me forever to figure out that that was what was going on, :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mctx-FkdQ-c This is the best video I have on it.
Sometimes you have to dig the Pectus Device into your skin so that it's like stretched out a bit before the suction starts, skin is stretchy and you need to account for this otherwise you just get a bunch of skin sucked up and not the BONE you're trying to move.
For new users it really hurts a lot at the start and every sensation can be kinda scary, these are all sensations you need to work hard to interpret I believe, so that you can know how to adjust your vaccum bell.
however, only about a month ago did I actually attempt to move my bell vaccum device slightly lower down, so that the thicker silicon walls wouldn't give and maybe I could get my sturnum to actually come up finally.
Sure enough it did... I have risen up almost everything else but that sturnum, and the best thing is that once I did that It immediately solved my coronary artery spasms, I could just throw my device on to fix it at the time and now they've gotten just so much better throughout the day.
It's frigging scary man!
I swear there is probably a genetic level comprehension of this coronary artery spasm thing because it's what leads to heart attacks, when you feel this sensation you truly know something is wrong with your body and it really messes with your entire life, your entire mood and attitude about anything can change from this sensation constantly occurring I swear it's awful, I really do need to make a video sometime and not just this crappy post but for now here. I hope it helps.
I am a Trans woman (~2.5 years feminizing HRT) with Pectus excavatum (also known as a Funnel Chest). I have attempted to google about how Corsets and Pectus excavatum but turned up no results. are there any safety concerns to take in mind when purchasing a corset?
Anyone here with fairly bad pectus get covid? How was it? Anyone any links to studies on pectus and covid.
36 male, getting worried about getting covid now.
Background - I wore underwired bras for most of my life, from high school through college, and a couple years ago started wearing mainly sports bras due to getting a job that required a lot of moving/lifting/running. Now I'd like to get some cute wired bras, as all of mine are 5-10 years old and not a great fit anymore.
Shape details - I have pectus excavatum, which seems to be somewhat severe - I can fit basically my whole fist down inside my chest, and can fit 4 fingers in between my breasts, which I assume makes me very wide spaced. I also have the rib flares which comes with PE, it's especially flared on the left side, although I think the entire left side of my rib cage is twisted instead of the flare just being one rib. My left breast appears bigger than my right, although I think the tissue is roughly the same size and it's just because my ribs flare out much further on the left side. I've never had a gore tack and the wires don't go around my whole breast in the center since none of them are designed to curve inward.
When I leaned over as instructed in the shape guide, in front of a mirror, I think I am full on bottom, and center full on the left breast, but outer full on the right breast. I saw This picture on the subreddit as a picture of conical breasts, and I think that's pretty similar to what mine look like. They seem to be set low down on my chest and I have to loosen the straps all the way out on basically all of my bras.
I thought I was shallow and ordered a bunch of the recommended shallow bras, because of the 1" difference between my standing and leaning bust measurements. I see a lot of people saying on this subreddit, that indicates shallow shape, but I'm not 100% sure. I definitely need some projection by the wires.
I always wore 36B, after buying some 36Bs from Victoria's Secret that had extremely loose bands and getting confused, I found ABTF and measured myself - I am still not sure if I'm measuring myself right. Originally when I measured my underbust I followed the instructions literally and measured without going down towards my sternum, and got 32D, but when I went shopping, all the bands were way too tight, pulling my breasts up in the middle. After measuring so that the tape stays on my skin, going down towards the center of my chest, I got 34C, with the following measurements:
33, 32.5, 32, 35.5, 36.5, 35.5.
I bought a lot of 34C (and a few 32D/36B)
... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβm not sure if this is the Pectus or not, but my Pulmonologist said I have an βObstruction in my airways or throatβ and said I probably also have Vocal cord Dysfunction. Is this a result of pectus?
Side note my Pectus goes about 2.5 to 3 inches inward.
What does Obstruction in the airways mean?
I have fairly severe pectus, not sure of the haller index, but regardless, Iβve seen people with pectus more severe than mine have great results. I donβt even care if it isnβt fully eliminated, just largely mitigated. Iβve been thinking since I want to start working out that I would do pectus/chest/posture specific exercises, but I want to know some other things. So far I have vacuum bell, wearing a back brace, sleeping with no pillow, and exercise. What other non surgical treatments are there?
