A list of puns related to "Palpitation"
This study among several others suggest that post COVID tachycardia is a result of decreased parasympathetic activity. Doctors dont really have an answer outside of beta blockers.
Anyone have thoughts? Im considering:
UPDATE (6 days later): I settled on magnesium (50% of RDA), methylfolate/methyl-B12, 400mg SAMe (for depression/fatigue), and 30mg zinc daily. I was started on 12.5mg atenolol daily (the lowest dose) by my cardiologist 5 days ago and have been drinking 12 cups of water a day compared to 6-8 cups I was having before because it seemed like I might be experiencing POTS. My palpitations have improved although they are still present. I have not noticed any huge spikes in heart rate in the past 5 days. Last week I had 2 HR spikes that sent me to the ER, this week I have had zero so far. My resting heart rate is down to the high 60s (was 85-100), my heart rate when I stand up is now ~85 (was 110), and my heart rate when walking around the house at a slow pace is 85-90 (was 110-120). Morning blood pressures are down from 150/90 to 130/90 and they seem to still be improving. Dizziness has improved a moderate amount but fatigue is about the same. Thank you for all the fantastic suggestions.
Let me start by saying Iโm pro-science and pro-vaccine.
I received my second dose of the Pfizer covid vaccine in June. Shortly after, I started to experience heart palpitations. Itโs been 7 months and Iโm still having palpitations several times a day. A 48-hour heart monitor confirmed this. Echocardiogram was normal. Cardiologist said heart palpitations are not one of the reported adverse effects of the Pfizer vaccine. Does anyone know if this has been studied? I canโt find any credible reports.
I came across some online forums with many others experiencing the same thing. Has anyone else experienced heart palpitations after the vaccine? How long did they last? Can anything be done to reduce them (aside from beta blockers)?
I have no other symptoms. Iโm 44, healthy, no prior cardiac issues, no anxiety.
Edit: The purpose of this post was to hear from those with knowledge of the science and others with similar experiences. To be clear, I do not regret getting the vaccine and would do it again. And I would encourage others to as well. Because you know whatโs worse than benign palpitations that may or may not be associated with the vaccine and will probably go away eventually? Getting covid and giving it to someone else who might not survive it. Hateful anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists need not comment.
Last night I noticed it felt like my heart was pounding and doing flips, I have a pulse oximeter and my heart rate was only 80 BPM which is what it normally is and I donโt feel that way so Iโm assuming what I was experience was heart palpitations. I woke up 3 times out of my sleep to my heart pounding and very mild dull chest pains. This shot has really flared up my long covid symptoms big time and Iโve been having issues ever since I got it. Which really upsets me because Iโd rather be fully vaxxed and able to get the booster when it comes time. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow about this so hopefully I can figure something out. In the meantime has anyone experience anything similar? Should I be worried and should I be able to get my 2nd dose?
Iโm triple vaxxed, my first two being Astrazenica and last being Pfizer. No side effects until this week, where a handful of times a day I am very conscious of my heart. Itโs not racing a lot, but itโs like I can feel it coming out of my chest. I did yoga today and my chest felt like it was ripping. Itโs not severe pain, itโs just prolonged and now Iโm fearful. Are the side effects too far gone since my last vaccine to be considered a side effect? Iโm not long recovering from a cold also
I try and limit my refined sugar intake but I couldnโt resist the box of chocolates someone got me yesterday and ate about half of it (100g) a few hours ago. My heart has been racing at around 115bpm, which is a lot higher than my normal resting heart rate which is usually around 60bpm. Does anyone else have this problem?
22F. Iโm almost 9 months in and the only remaining symptom I have left - ectopic beats.
The good news is that I donโt feel an increase. I feel about 1-5 a day only while bending or lying down. The bad news is that itโs been 9 months and itโs still present.
Iโve read a few posts on here that said it went away at month 4 or 5. :(
I had 2 echoes with two different cardiologists and they both said not to worry about it. Also had a Cardiac MRI but nothing showed up. But I canโt seem to stop worrying especially since Iโm so young.
More than being worried, Iโm just upset. I feel no joy and I feel like lifeโs been snatched away at such a young age. Is this how life is gonna be from now onwards?
Anyone else having palpitations this long?
Iโm a 40 yr old healthy female. After my second covid vaccine I had racing, pounding heart, difficulty catching my breath, dizziness that lasted for hours immediately afterward. It went away the next day and I had regular side effects. Then a week later it came back and would come off and on for the next week. Since then I have had palpitations off and on. Iโve had many blood tests, ECGs and 24hr heart monitoring that yielded nothing. Iโm concerned about this reaction will be more serious if I get my booster shot. Should I get my booster shot? And if so, should I be closely monitored afterward?
Hi everyone,
Iโm just looking to hear others experiences. My boyfriend (26M) received his booster shot 2 weeks ago! About 2 days later he complained to me about this sensation in his chest where his heart drops or skips a beat. I thought it sounded like heart palpitations, but he didnโt have any other symptoms so we waited to see if it would go away. Fast forward 2 weeks and it hasnโt, although itโs not consistent.
Last night he developed hives all over his body, ranging from his head to his feet. Even slightly on his face and his eyes! He is being seen at the ER today. We canโt pinpoint what they are from, but Iโm worried this is a delayed reaction to the moderna booster!
Iโm pro-vax and have my shots myself! Iโm just wondering if you think these events are related?
So I got my 1st/2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine in May/June 2021. Everything felt fine after my 2nd dose. A few months later in October I experienced a couple days of constant heart palpitations. After the 2nd straight day of this I went to the hospital at the advice of my local telehealth service. Blood work came back fine and the doctor caught the palpitations on the ECG but said they would go away in a few days (which they did, for a short while). Fast forward to today, and I've been experiencing heart palpitations almost daily since November. Now sometimes I also feel some chest and arm pain. Went back to the hospital in December and the doctor said everything was fine again. I noticed that now the palpitations mostly happen at night when I'm sitting or lying down in bed. I tried taking magnesium supplements as some suggested in this sub but so far they have been ineffective. I have an appointment with a cardiologist in 5 months (due to huge backlog I assume). I'm wondering what else I can do or if anyone has any suggestion to try and curb this. I am a healthy 27y/o male with no prior heart conditions or ailments.
My girlfriend Brittney has had an irregular heartbeat for the last few days. She has seen a doctor and they said everything is fine and sent her home. It isn't fine because I can hear it myself and it happens often. She will likely be going to the hospital but will have to wait 15+ hours to see someone. She is anxious and worried about it. All I can do is pray.
In Jesus name I pray that she feels better and I ask you to pray as well if you feel compelled to do so.
Thank you everyone and God Bless. Please feel free to leave a prayer request in the comments if you'd like. I will pray for you as well. The power of prayer is truly underrated. Thanks again.
Iโm not sure if itโs related to GERD. But wanted to know if anyone experiences heart palps along with GERD?
So last night i had a resting heart rate of 182, jumping back and forth from 60-180ish for hours. I felt extremely unwell, hot all over and it was a terrifying experience to say the least. I tried to call 101 but collapsed and called 999 instead, explaining my situation to the responder and apologising incase i was wasting his time. I was told theres an 11 hour wait for ambulances or any kind of assistance and to get an uber if i "was actually worried". In the condition i was in there was no chance of me getting an uber let alone getting on the app so i just laid on my floor for a few hours shaking and seizing up. Waking up the next day its very apparent to me now that they took quite alot of information over the phone such as my name, age and address. Am i likely to have any repurcussions from calling 999?
Hi all,
Came here a few days ago since coming down with what I can only describe as POTS-like symptoms since Monday. I went for a 5k walk on Sunday since my isolation had finished and ever since then, not been right.
I was wondering if anyone had any solutions, remedies or tips for managing palpitations specifically? Everything else I can deal with; SOB, insomnia, etc. but the palpitations are really affecting my quality of life at the moment. Any time I stand up and move around they start. Can be anywhere from immediately after to 20 minutes, but they always come. Iโm just over 2 weeks since I tested positive for Covid so the doctors arenโt really willing to investigate any further at the moment.
From reading some of the posts in here and watching some of the videos on vitamin stacks, Iโve decided to start taking vitamin C, selenium, zinc and quercitin, in addition to already taking vitamin D since the initial onset of POTS symptoms.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Whatโs worked for you, if anything? Thanks in advance ๐
I pretty much wake up with heart palpitations and shakyness every morning. Especially if something suddenly wakes me up. Does anyone have this? Why does this happen?
Iโm getting there woke up in horrible sweats and rls along with horrible rage and anger. Cutting down again today been cutting 2 grams per week. Wds are manageable yet uncomfortable. This kratom shit is a beast man anyone reading this thinking it will be a good supplement DONT DO IT! Was having horrible heart palpitations and chest pains kind of scary and I just found out kratom can cause heart problems. Not sure if that is a fact but anyone else had heart issues with kratom??
Since aug 2021 I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia, esphogitis, gastritis by my endoscopy procedure . I was given nothing but ppi for the problem. Back then I did not experience heart palpitations.
Fast forward October 2021 I started having heart palpitations that would travel to my neck after eating a meal, stand up too fast, and lifting and bending. I heard magnesium help palpitations so I started supplementing and it do help when the palpitations are going. However itโs not a permanent treatment. I have palpitations I donโt care how โharmlessโ they seem they are horrible and effect my day to day life. Iโm willing to get whatever surgery necessary.
My heart is easily excitable: standing up, taking stairs, an anxious moment, exercising, etc. It will start racing like it's doing the 100m sprint.
I noticed it will often slam back down after being excitable. Goes from very fast small beats to a sudden pause and thump, pause and thump, pause and thump. This often increases the likelihood I'll have some PVCs thrown in and I'll often 'feel' these palpitations in my chest, body, head. It feels like my heart is struggling to pump or find a rhythm. This is when I'll feel a little off and lightheaded until it passes.
It seems like a strong sinus arrythmia. So when my heart is excitable, a long breath in causes my heart to speed up drastically. My breath out then slams the brakes for a few hard beats. My heart's rhythm then feels caught between going very fast and going very slow. I'm sure the combination of these two things is causing my lightheadness amongst other things, though I'm told most people have this, mine just feels exaggerated. Anyone else or am I losing my mind.
ECGs and monitors haven't shown anything to worry a Doctor. Hoping this sounds somewhat familiar and someone else experiences or understands this.
Hello. So I am 20 years old and started minox on Sept 29.2021. Iโve been experiencing a higher resting heart rate (Around 90-105) recently. Since like the new year. I workout 5-6 days a week and am pretty fit. Im 5โ6โ and 153 Lb. I have had 2 heart palpitations that were noticeable since wednesday of this post. I went to the Er yesterday where they performed and Ekg, Urine test and blood test. Everything came back normal and i was discharged a few hours later. My Bp and Heart rate at the Er was around 100-105 and 139/80
Today i was lucky to visit a cardiologist and he did another Ekg, Bp and heart rate check. My blood pressure today was 120/78, Heart rate was 70 and Ekg was sinus (normal). After discussing with him he agreed to get me on a holter monitor, perform a stress test and echocardiogram next week. He does believe that this whole thing is anxiety driven and potentially minox driven.
I am also experiencing anxiety i believe which may add to this affect. I would definitely say i am always anxious about something.
So today I decided to quit minox. And see if it helps. Because prior to all of this I had no history of heart issues what so ever, In fact my resting heart rate used to be around 65-70. Also i donโt smoke anymore ( i used to vape from age 17-19) I am now 20. And i drink occasionally (maybe 2-3 times per month.
Has this happened to anyone else? I am honestly really scared for myself and never experienced anything like this and Iโm only 20 years old. Anyone insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
The sensation of my heart randomly pounding harder at random intervals makes me acutely aware of being alive. Then, when the rhythm returns to normal, the first deep breath is extra relaxing. A great sensation to remind you of how fleeting life is and calmness.
Yesterday I had heart palpitations on and off all day and into the night. They are really scary. To be fair, Iโve been having issues with heart palps because I recently just got off benzos and thatโs known to cause heart palps. I just didnโt know if COVID could exasperate it. I was recently in the hospital (pre-COVID) for heart palps and everything checked out ok.
I havenโt had these before, but I got the vax on dec. 27 and since then Iโve had a crazy amount of long covid issues flare up and now starting last night I can feel my heart pounding constantly even when my heart rate isnโt going very high. Iโve never felt this before either. I already called my doctor and they scheduled me an appointment for tomorrow at 1 pm but told me if anything gets worse between now and then to go to the ER. Iโm really scared. Anyone else experience this?
Ok I am pretty sure itโs PSVT right now ๐ฐ
I had free 120 ~ 83% (6 days out) UWAS 2 ~ 237 ( 3 days out) UWAS 1 ~ 247 (25 days out) UWAS 1 ~ 237 ( 6 months out)
Somehow all of a sudden, I feel like crap! This long wait is such a nightmare and need to know I am not the only one, pooping my pants ๐คง
Went to the ER twice in one week because I had symptoms of a heart attack and had to wear a heart monitor for two weeks.
Iโve been on TRT for about 10 months now with a steady 120 mg per week. I have to be honest though and say that Iโve been pinning fairly infrequently as Iโm still testing out what works best.
I would pin 3x a week and feel okay, but miss a pinning day every now and then and it would throw everything off. I had a much easier time dedicating to pin 2x a day, but I would have a harder time falling asleep at night as I could feel my heart beating through my chest.
Iโve also noticed I have become slightly more short-tempered, which isnโt necessarily a bad thing. However, it does get in the way by elevating my anxiety, which ultimately caused my first panic attack to occur.
I was just laying down in bed while I could feel my heart beating through my chest. It was a pretty stressful day at work, and it didnโt help that I pinned 60mg the night before and took 20mg Adderall in the morning. Itโs also a WFH job so my work environment is pretty sedentary.
Anyways, out of nowhere while laying down, my heart rate jumps to 160-180 bpm and I feel numbness shooting down my left arm. I immediately get up and call 911 and tell them Iโm having a heart attack or panic attack. My girlfriend looks and me and freaks out at how pale I look. I felt like I was going to die right there, but I eventually calm myself down and told the operator to not send an ambulance because the hospital is literally a block away from our apartment. My heart is still beating ferociously at this point and my girlfriend drives us over to the ER, where they examine me.
After tons of tests done (EKG, Troponin, Chest X-Rays) they concluded it was a stress-induced panic attack. There were still some things that alarmed me like high blood pressure and the sedentary lifestyle that could actually cause a heart attack. I had another ER visit later that week but it was essentially the same story that happened.
Since then, Iโve donated 500mL of blood and increased my cardio and volume in the gym. But I still get that feeling that I might end up having a heart attack in the middle of the night and canโt seem to shake it off.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Iโd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this. Thanks
After my second dose of Moderna ~6 months a ended up in the ER for heart palpations and fast heart rate. I was diagnosed with Anxiety (though no prior symptoms) and after beginning SSRIs the symptoms went away. Maybe is a coincidence but I am really hesitant to take the Booster given my past experience. Did anyone else have similar symptoms after the second dose and then get boosted?
I have been stressed since the beginning of 2020. I have had an abortion, lost a close friend, and then this pandemic hit. I havenโt had so many stressors at once like that before. Last year I went to so many doctors (rheumatologist, neurologist, gynecologist, orthopedic surgeon, GP, cardiologist, pulmonologist). I had a chest X-ray, breathing function test, 3 ECGs, heart ultrasound, 2 heart monitors for 7 days each, transvaginal ultrasound, left breast ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound( few cysts not concerning), 5 blood tests different months always including CBC, Metabolic panel, Magnesium, glucose, thyroid, cholesterol, CRP, ESR, lipid, ANA, B12, B6, DHEAS, urine tests, full spine MRI( some disc issues but isnโt the cause of my pains)
I always worry about my heart even though Iโm told Iโm fine. I always check it when I walk around and get up from sitting etc. My resting can go down to the low 60s when itโs time for bed. When I sit itโs around 80s.
I have been having so many symptoms since then and I still do.
-skipped beat feelings every day(It happens randomly! I can have it during exercise, after exercise, when I eat, when at rest)
-high heart rate when I just get up from sitting walk around itโs in the 110s
-sensitive skin when I take my clothes off hard or rub my skin itโs just noticeable but not painful
-random quick head pains sometimes either side
-tight upper back always cracks
-costcondritis left side tender always under left breast
Heart dr says my skipped beats are benign and that I have heart anxiety. My GP says I have an anxiety disorder.
Does anyone have any of this?! I donโt know what to do anymore. My mind is always thinking negative. I want to try meditation, but I donโt know any good ones to start with that really help with my mind.
I am 28F. got my first and single dose of the vaccine on 3 Jan. Since 16 Jan have been experiencing above symptoms and it has not gone away. Never had such in the past that lasted more than a day. Havenโt changed anything in my diet/ lifestyle in the past 2 weeks. Do you think it is related to the vaccine? Should I be worried and should I see a doctor?
Hey y'all. Just discovered this feed! I'm 32 years old and lifetime noburper. (Outside the accidental one a few times per year and ones while vomiting LOL) wondering if anyone else gets these symptoms: Since I was a teenager I have experienced "skipped heart beats" that seem to come and go in frequency. Nowadays as I got older, they became an almost daily occurrence that I've tied back to gastrointestinal upset/diet issues. The palpitations are directly related to my bodys position and overall stomach tension/fullness. More gas/upset stomach=more palpitations. More gurgles tend to happen on days I get more heart flutters. Had my heart checked out, everythings good! Had an upper endoscopy recently and discovered I have a small hiatal hernia! Thinking this is contributing to my particular symptoms as well. (Side note: I had my tonsils and adenoids out as a child, wondering if this could be linked to my inability to burp)
Cut out dairy and that helped a lot! Now eating less gluten and that is also seeming to help! My diet change has seriously been the only thing to get me to days without any symptoms! Trying to figure out the right/wrong foods and best supplements. (Do you guys use beano to help with gas?)
Love you fellow noburperz!
Iโve been suffering from heart palpitations and have been having extrasystoles / high heart rate for about 5 months now. My cardiologists said that my symptoms arenโt dangerous after they took an ECG. One cardiologist recommended me to take Magnesium.
I took 600 mg Magnesiumcitrate for 3 months, then stopped. My palpitations got a lot better and at times completely disappeared.
Once i started taking 600 mg Magnesium oxide a couple of days ago, my heart rate increased further (up to 180 bpm when i walk the stairs) and my palpitations got a lot worse again.
Those are the symptoms of Magnesium deficiency if iโm not mistaken, but iโm now only getting them when i supplement Magnesium.
Why is that? Iโm 18 years old and i weigh 154 lbs. Also, i donโt have a potassium deficiency.
Thanks for any help :)
Iโve started TRT a week ago doing 100 test cyp, started daily and now gone EOD. Throughout the week I have noticed that I have progressively been getting a harder heartbeat. Itโs causing me a lot of anxiety because it feels very uncomfortable and itโs also wrecking the quality of my sleep.
So I have struggled with palpitations for some time and have had all the tests required which show that my heart is healthy, with no irregular beats but very strong beats. Heart health isnโt a concern here. However, my heart does get triggered by some supplements and weightlifting.
Incredibly annoyingly, although as anticipated, I believe the testosterone is causing this palpitation. A heavy heartbeat all day long - no irregular rhythms, just heavy pounding. Iโve ordered a thyroid test as I realised my doctors havenโt checked for fT4 and fT3, just incase itโs that although I reckon it probably isnโt that.
I did a post before coming on TRT a week ago expressing this concern. I gather that similar reactions happen to some people. Now itโs happening I weighing up what I should do. Being only a week in I know that if I stopped soon I probably wouldnโt have to deal with too much suppression. But obviously the longer I stay on the greater crash will be when I come off.
I guess the question is, is this temporary or if Iโm getting this now will it not resolve?
Hey everyone, do any of you suffer palpitations/heart flutters/PVCs from your hiatal hernia? I notice I get them from laying a certain way, certain movements, even turning my head a certain way or breathing in too deep. I, also, can get them when I suck my stomach in and out or if I use the bathroom I can get them from the muscles in my abdomen contracting. I, also, got them last night while sleeping. I eventually got up and used the restroom, and it seemed emptying my bowels relieved the pressure and they went away. Of course anxiety/adrenaline bursts can cause them too.
Maybe itโs from vagus nerve irritation or from the hernia sliding and causing them. Any thoughts?
I am considering MDing, but in my short bout of research I can't seem to find specifics on the connection of niacin and my heart issue, palpitations. I do see that niacin can cause them which leads me to believe that it can exasperate them, but I'm no doctor. When I do have a palpitation episode it can cause me anxiety and, in severe episodes - which are rare for me, light headedness which can cause that anxiety to skyrocket. I have found my palpitation triggers, such as heavy caffeine intake, and avoid them as much as possible, but sometimes my heartbeat just wants to be felt throughout my entire chest lol If I start MDing should I consider not adding the niacin or would it be wise to try taking niacin regularly before I begin MDing to get my body used to it and see if it could be a potential trigger? Is it something I should avoid altogether and just MD with the fungi?
Who here gets skipped beats or pounding when they stand up or move around? Iโve had a holter, ecg, bloods etc been told Iโm fine but a lot of the time I could stand up and my heart will either skip, pound or race and wonโt stop till I sit down. Doesnโt happen all of the time which is good but when it does it feels like Iโm going to die. Like even today while walking to work (8-10 min walk) I was almost there and I felt a huge skip in the middle of my chest and I started panicking I had to sit down in the lobby on the chair till my heart calmed down. Is it normal to have palpitations like this with anxiety? Or like taking a deep breath sometimes makes my heart skip, I w also had my heart skip several beats in a row which wasnโt caught on my 7 day holter. Can someone pls explain they are going through the same thing or have and gotten through it :( sick of worrying about my heart every single day itโs ruining my life. Canโt drink, exercise over this I just want to be normal again :( Iโm too aware of my heart beating I hate it.
For the past month or so Iโve been dealing with random heart palpitations. When it first happened I freaked the fuck out and convinced myself that I was going to die. The anxiety definitely came after the palpitations. At least thatโs how it felt. After that I was fine for a couple weeks, until I got another โfitโ of heart palpitations. I would get one or so โlurchโ in my chest per minute. It felt like a fish flopping around. Fast forward another few days, and Iโm having a panic attack on an airplane due to a huge heart palpitation. I thought I was going to die. I had been anxious all day prior to this, but the palpitation set me off. That experience kind of set me on a downhill path. Im now anxious about my health all of the time, and when I got a heart palp every once in a while it makes me lose my shit even more.
For the past week or so Iโve been getting these heart palpitation fits. Iโll be fine for a few days, almost feeling like maybe Iโm back to normal, until the next morning I have a palpitation, and then throughout the rest of the day Iโll be extremely anxious, and having consistent bursts of heart palpitations (5 or 10 within a few minutes, and then nothing for an hour).
I know it might seem dumb, but I hate these things. They spike my anxiety to another level, and make everyday living miserable.
Any similar experiences or words of advice would be great. Thanks
UPDATE: AlasโฆI made an appointment w/ a different dr because mine had a family emergency come up. I didnโt want to wait for an appointment in January. SoโฆI went to this other dr and he didnโt agree to do the dDimer blood test or POTS testโฆhe said first the anxiety has to be resolved and then can tackle symptoms. Soโฆidk. I feel nervous.
He prescribed me an anti-anxiety medication. I guess I can try itโฆside effects include dizziness, nausea and fatigueโฆ:/
Iโm scared, I thought they were gone now. I got the vaccine in June and during the week after especially, I experienced heart palpitations, heart racing. I got tests done by my dr, but all EKG blood tests etc all came back fine.
They chalked it up to anxiety, which I admittedly do have a tendency towards, but it seems like efforts at meditation and mindfulness donโt help much; wouldnโt they help if it is anxiety?
Recently theyโve started up again, not as bad as before but bad. Iโll be lying in bed totally relaxed and my heart will just start going fast. It happens even when Iโm mentally calm/happy or thinking of nothing much.
Sometimes itโs accompanied by pain in my heart area, or a sortof burning sensation. Iโm scared!! 33f, vegetarian and exercising, good BMI, no preexisting conditions.
Has this happened to anyone else and did you find a solution? Please, I need help.
