A list of puns related to "Orange Roughy"
Was wondering if anyone had these series floating around:
I tried a few torrent sites, but to no avail, and there is virtually nothing on utube either.
Prefer HD, however beggars cannot be choosers.
Really appreciate it.
Anyone have this?
Cheers
I like orange roughy but haven't been able to find it anywhere near me for years. Based on what I've heard and read, this is because the fish is endangered due to overfishing and its long maturation age (23-40 years).
Having said that, I occasionally come across fish labeled as "orange roughy" for sale, such as this:
https://www.dillons.com/p/kroger-wild-caught-orange-roughy-fillet/0001111096123?fulfillment=SHIP
It tastes like I remember orange roughy tasting, but is it really orange roughy?
Are the restrictions on fishing orange roughy strictly enforced or are there fishing operations that still fish it despite its endangered status and sell to grocery stores such as Dillons/Kroger?
If the restrictions are enforced and no one is actively fishing it right now, then what fish is being labeled as "orange roughy" as in the example above? If it's a more commonly available fish, then I'd like to buy some and knowing its alternate name would probably make it easier to find.
Probably 10-15 years ago, I feel like my mom used to make it every once in a while, and occasionally Iβd see it in a restaurant.
I was talking to someone earlier today when I realized I havenβt seen it in years. Am I just in a region where they donβt really get it now? Or is it not sold for some reason?
My local Kroger carries Orange Roughy. I was hesitant to buy it because of mercury issues and the fact that it is practically "endangered." I was getting disillusioned with the other fish I was trying (Salmon, Mahi Mahi, Cod, Flounder) so I thought, let me try this. I tried it with some breading and oh my this was the most delicious fish I have ever eaten. I wish that there weren't issues with this fish. It's awesome, I just love the taste. It reminds me of Alaskan Pollock but a little stronger taste and firmer.
Not sure what I'm going to do about Orange Roughy in the future, but it was a very pleasant first try. I haven't tried Halibut yet but I heard that's good. It's just so expensive.
I usually bake a tilapia filet with either pesto and parmesan or lime and cilantro, then serve with veggies - nothing inspiring. Found frozen Orange Roughy at the grocery store last weekend and would like to try something other than just baking it and serving with a side of greens.
Does anybody have a favorite kind of white fish recipe to share?
Also: I didn't find out that I contributed to the decline of this species until I started looking for recipes online. I will (guiltily) eat my filets and never buy it again after .... but I at least want it to taste good!
Texture reply to me.

Orange Roughy with Asparragus and Sweet potato :) - Here's the nutritional info breakdown.

Recipe here:
Chop about 1/4 of the onion and 1/2 a red bell pepper - i like them in strips and set aside. Then slice about 1/2 sweet potato or 1/3 depending on how bit it is and separate the asparragus spear from their bottom. Then on a cookie bake pan, put some parchment paper and lay the sweet potato and asparragus on it. Moist a brush a little bit with some olive oil and brush it on the veggies, and then add some salt and pepper. Put them in the oven for broil at 375F for about 17 minutes.
Now, on a non-stick pan, put 1/4 tbsp of butter, let it melt and throw in the red bell pepper and the onion. Stir around for about 4-6 minutes, depending on how cooked you like the onion and set aside.
To prepare the orange roughy, set it aside on a chopping board or plate, coat it lightly with light mayo, and add lemon pepper and salt. Put the orange roughy in the pan where you cooked the bell pepper and onion , and put a lid on it, medium heat and let it sit for about 6-8 mins. Flip around, put the onion/pepper back and stir for a bit, maybe another 5-6 minutes more.
Serve together with the Asparragus and sweet potato for a delicious meal, add a piece of bread if you want.
Hope you all enjoy.
